  1. The slant key doesn't work at all on mine. It just types P when I press Slant+P instead of Slash. And I'm referring to this on the product page, I'm pretty sure this qualifies as "selling feature": I was under the impression pressing the Fx key + whatever shortcut at the launcher would start it, but apparently not. It just brings me to the home screen.
  2. So I can't search this thread... what's the official word on typing slashes/question marks/curly braces? I was looking to use this for some coding work but without a lot of the symbols this isn't gonna work. Also what's the way to get the launcher shortcuts working?
  3. I got a few updates after setting mine up and now at March 2020.
  4. Jeez... what the hell did I buy, this thing cost more than my Priv. I can't type slashes with the keyboard, the promised, selling feature of the shortcuts didn't work. And the "workaround" is to flash a completely different OS. Sigh.
  5. So I figured it out. Turns out, somehow for Tasker to work with the sensor, "Landscape orientation lock" must be kept enabled.
  6. I literally took it out of the box today. Only thing I did was update it to EEA_20200306.
  7. I just installed Tasker in mine, seems like the Keyboard Out state is not working. Usually on my Priv when the slider is open or closed, the Keyboard Out state would indicate this, but doesn't seem to work on mine.
  8. So I just got mine, and just an hour into it, I'm missing my Priv. Having a "full-sized" keyboard is good but it's not practical for daily mobile use. I find myself stretching to for keys on the left side because of the cluster of keys before the home row. Edge detection is horrid. I constantly accidentally activate the screen when using the numeric row, in fact I locked out my corporate account entering a password because of this. I feel using a curved screen was a very bad design choice here, you need more gap between the keyboard and the edge of the screen. Landscape usag
  9. I was so close to getting that phone back then, the Relay. Got one that was unlocked, it kept chewing SD cards and corrupting all the data on it, not sure why. Had to return it and ended up down the dark, dark, BlackBerry route and got a Classic.
  10. Since F(x)tec and Expansys decided to use FedEx, going to try to avoid the scam FedEx/UPS/DHL are running for brokerage fees... https://trueler.com/2010/11/24/self-clear-shipment-cbsa-avoid-ups-brokerage-fee/ So far step 1 is successful, I was able to get the commerical invoice from Fedex. Called their billing department and got it after a brief hold with the agent. CBSA says the office have reduced hours (6-10), so hopefully I can get it cleared in time. Gonna have to keep an eye on the package when it hits Canada and ask them to hold the shipment. EDIT: So I did a little more
  11. Coincidentally, BlackBerry decides to brick my Hub+ this morning by pushing that buggy Hub update to the Play Store as release, then I got my stock assignment from F(x)tec. Had to spend my morning on APKMirror just to roll back my updates and get it working again.
  12. Received the email. Hopefully it's Monday June 8th rather than Monday May 8th, 2023. QWERTY Order# 34XXX, entered Aug 31st, paid Sept 8th.
  13. ...so back on topic, I just got a stock assignment email. But it says I'll get courier info by "Monday, the 8th of May". Checked my calendar, I'm assuming that's May 8th 2023 since that's the next May 8th with a Monday?
  14. I've been using my Priv for 2 different companies for BYOD already. One with BlackBerry Work, another with straight up Exchange EWS.
  15. I mentioned earlier that community support isn't exactly an option for some of us who use our devices as BYOD for work. There are device security checks where third party OSes where bootloader unlocking, rooting is not allowed.
  16. Funny you say that... because precisely their software is what's killing my Priv. I was on the Hub+ Suite beta, around April they pushed some update and completely killed my email and calendar functionality, crashing the moment I opened anything. So pretty much the software was useless, hence I rolled back to their release channel version of the apps to restore it. Right after I did that, the weird random reboot issues I had all came back. Reported these to them, and BlackBerry's response? "We're shutting down the Beta Program Forums". I'm seriously considering de-BlackBerrying my ph
  17. That's pretty much a canned response at this point.
  18. My phone is not as critical these days, so I'll give it another month before I request for a refund. My carrier is dying to give me credits to give me another phone. A year ago, spec for price the Pro 1 was still OK to justify (mind you I paid less than half for the same spec in an Essential PH1 almost 2 years ago), but I'm not sure if I can justify the same thing now just for the keyboard, especially for one that's not actually in the orientation that I want it to slide in.
  19. You're preaching this to someone who's still using a Priv. The OS version absolutely does matter. Just the past few weeks I saw so many apps just randomly break off features, including BlackBerry's own software, and they are not responding to bugfix feedback. I can only think this will just get worse as developers stop focusing on Marshmallow. To have a brand new phone you're effectively cutting lifespan, which in turn factors in how much you pay for it. If it's a $100-200 prepaid Android I can see the lack of support but not a $700+ phone. The SoC would've still worked if the ther
  20. Downside to that is I can't use it as a BYOD device. Corporate software has stuff like bootloader and root checks, so custom OSes likely won't fly.
  21. And I hope they are still keeping busy with updating the software as well. The hardware is 3 generations behind and OS is 1 version behind. At the very least they can add value and show they are committed to providing updates, thus assuring us that there will be a good support lifespan despite the delay. Otherwise the premium for the keyboard is way too much.
  22. I paid in August and I even stopped getting the "update" emails.
  23. FWIW the pandemic started in China back in November.
  24. Yeah, we're half way through the week now. Any estimate on when the rest of the preorders would get an assignment?
