Key2 owner - worth upgrading?

I guess neither of you read till the very last line about ditching the Pro 1, meaning I'm currently using one, lol. -
Key2 owner - worth upgrading?
ToniCipriani replied to phoebus2000's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
As a Priv owner... Had to pull out my Priv the other day because the indoor reception was so much better and I had an important phone call to take. Immediately I was reminded how much better that keyboard was. No cramped hands when typing and the touch-scroll was second to none. The novelty of landscape on the Pro1 wore off for me. It was indeed good for remote desktop and terminal scenarios but those aren't common use cases. More than half of my apps don't work with landscape (and the apologists here will insist it's "bad coding"). I'm actually tempted to switch back, and if that alle -
I got one crash today which made me late for an appointment because my phone was sitting at the "Draw your pattern to unlock your Android" boot screen. I can't tell for sure if it was due to the Wi-Fi bug though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Logcat isn't showing much. Only one a bit suspicious is WeChat (I know, I don't want to use it either but no choice for a few people I talk to) which was updated on Sept 3rd and quite chatty, and another more obvious one that looks like a crash, but I don't see it part of the drain: My SOT time at 35% is now just a bare 2 hours.

Got the update, but it seems like my battery life took a nosedive. The drain on idle is almost equivalent to me playing a game yesterday. https://imgur.com/a/9pWlBDD

Pixel 4a - $349/C$479 for S730G/6GB/128GB
ToniCipriani replied to ToniCipriani's topic in General Discussion
I'll pay another $100 on top if they do this. Heck, I would pay even more than a Pro 1 after using a Pro 1. -
https://blog.google/products/pixel/pixel4a-new-helpful-google-phone/ Thoughts? Aside from the lack of a keyboard, I think the price is right. This type of spec may be good for a cheaper Pro 1 variant, or even a smaller, lighter one. I'd gladly add $1-200 for a physical keyboard premium.

QWERTY. Using Swiftkey at the moment.

There's a section under Keyboard settings for Keyboard Helper shortcuts, but I can't seem to figure out what that "Magifier/Search" key is. Tried the Fx key and it isn't it.

Auto-capitalisation on physical keyboard
ToniCipriani replied to MalteM's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Not testing for a corner case that likely won't happen to 99% of the devices isn't exactly "poorly coded" but rather a design decision. -

And I'm actually getting cramps reaching for the left side of the keyboard on the Pro 1. But I rather live with that than to only have a touch keyboard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But I've said this before and I'll say it again: landscape works best if it's a desktop like app. On a phone it just doesn't work when most apps just end up forcing you back into portrait. I've only used the keyboard extensively with RDP-esque apps at this point. -
Auto-capitalisation on physical keyboard

Frankly if typing speed was what I was after then I really wouldn't have got the Pro 1 at all. It's about the keyboard feel but the Pro 1 is actually helping me wean off the PKB at this point. -

I guess you didn't use the swipe down gesture for accents. -

And this, is why a portrait slider is superior. I much prefer using my BlackBerry Priv than my Pro1, but I can't pass up the performance difference. -

The keyboard itself doesn't have the functionality, it comes down to the keyboard software you pair it with. Swiftkey provides the said functionality. -
at&t AT&T dropping support for 3G and Pro1?
ToniCipriani replied to lizardgai4's topic in General Discussion
"Mistakenly" sent out a message to try to get people to re-sign their 2-year contracts in the midst of a pandemic where connectivity is crucial... totally a mistake. I'm sorry but I have zero faith in any US/Canadian carrier not trying to screw with their customer base on a daily basis. -

ToniCipriani replied to lizardgai4's topic in General Discussion
Well it didn't help that "3G" could either mean 3GPP/UMTS or 3GPP2/1xEVDO where both are vastly different. -

Not exactly strange. For calls to work on LTE, it needs VoLTE, which is a different standard. But so far I've seen, it has been a complete shitshow in North American networks. A lot of times it's only on a subset of their own phones sold that works. North American carriers do this kind of bullshit all the time. Device whitelisting, slowing or outright not providing updates, you name it. They seem to only care about locking you into a new contract every 2 years with "new" hardware. Whereas my 4 year old, North American market BlackBerry Priv which has been out of support and pro -
Spontaneous reboots - discssion on possible causes
ToniCipriani replied to VaZso's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
The past 48 hours or so my phone spontaneously rebooted around 3 times. BUT I also seem to find out that if I use the Debug shortcut (Power + Volume Down) it rebooted my phone as well, so I do wonder if some of the reboots were actually triggered by the hard keys in the pocket and not actually spontaneous. Captured a debug report anyways, not sure if FXtec/IdeaLTE wants to look at it. -
Tested ESC key and no more crackling sounds in Mario Kart.

And to add to that the sheer amount of said bugs are actually already fixed already on a third-party project (Lineage). They can only blame certification so much at this point.

What is your dream OS for this phone?
ToniCipriani replied to altomes's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I already got some Linux apps working with Termux. -

Just get rid of the bugs in the stock software and I'm good. -
I don't know how much of a myth when I have one, and since day 1 I got it I never got more than a day usage. I thought the battery was bad after 3 years of usage, so I replaced it and it didn't do one bit to increase life.
