Background history Alright. So I broke my Pro1's screen. I don't know how the remaining scratches came to be, but the first one was the Pro1 falling off outside my bath tube (there was no water involved). I ordered a replacement as suggested on AliExpress. I ordered the screen on the 29th of December, it arrived on the 20th of January, I believe. I did not get to it until today. Replacing the screen The actual display seems to be the same as the one for the Elephone U / U Pro models. Replacing the screen is - probably - rather easy, though I managed to make some mistak

I finally replaced the screen - and took some photos (using my daughter's S8) while at it. Will post them as well as some comments today or tomorrow, so stay tuned. One thing ahead: the Elephone U screen fits perfectly.

Hm... never had these issues and I am using Fitefox for Android as my primary browser, though I also barely ever browse for a hour straight.

Actually I am of the opinion, that I might not have to open the lower part of the phone. In theory I would open the upper part with just the screen. But I will take pictures regardless of whatever I have to open to replace it.

Screen arrived in perfecr condition and looks like a perfect fit. Will report once I got to replacing it.

Ah. Tbh I would have bought this phone with any camera above say Galaxy S5 quality or so.. I really don't care how good the camera is - it works good enough.

No, the screen still works, but is broken. And the other screen still did not arrive yet. I'll take pictures once I replaced the screen.

Heh, I would gladly assist, but the screen of my pro1 is still broken, though the Elephone U screen should arrive within a few days. Too bad support did not seem to find a way to help me... Once I manage to replace the screen (given it fits), I'll make a few images (given they work out nicely).

If you paid with a credit card, you usually have a certain period of time revoking the payment so I'd kindly ask them again to please return the money and tell them they have e.g. 2 weeks to do so (set a certain amount of time). If nothing has happened by then, just ask your credit card provider to take the money back because of an undelivered product.

Well - I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't possible, obviously. Besides: I haven't waited that long for a new keyboard phone. Up until mid-last-year I used my Priv. I really haven't ever found anyone in a forum so vold saying that if I hadn't bought a device from a reseller, I would be supporting the company more... I still bought the pro1 at nearly full price and certainly around 70+ Euro more than pre-orderers have paid. So if FxTec doesn't treat me like someone, who pre-ordered, why should I wait like one? Which is why I decided to jump ships (but still get their device).

Welcome to the real world... honestly the only drawback of me buying the phone from a reseller (for FxTec) is that they got slightly less bucks from that device. But so what? Don't be so self-righteous - your behavior reminds me of a fanatic. This was not about instant gratification, but about cheaper price + sooner at my house vs higher price + I don't know when it arrives... Except I had to pay 736 Euro for waiting longer instead of paying 721 Euro and get it right away. Look, I want FxTec to succeed, but why should I double cut on something just for their sake? It was their decision to deliver devices to reseller before I get mine, so I don't see a problem here. @silversolver

Sorry, but I pity you for thinking I have cheated. All I did wws to use an opportunity and I did wait almost 2 months. It's not like I bought an iPhone instead. And if you were to believe in karma, you wouldn't sort-of say that I deserve the broken screen. But I am sure you don't and I don't either. I understand that you are simply upset for not having your phone already - I wish you and all the others would've already gotten your phones.

Okay so.. the refund for the device I never got from FxTec is back. From what I can deduce from my emails it took them about 2 weeks. I confirmed their email asking whether I really want to cancel my order and get a refund on the 21st of December and got my money onto my credit card on the 2nd of January. If you take all the holidays into account, I must say FxTec was very fast on this matter. Now I am waiting for them to find a solution to my broken display replacement. 1. I disagree: they make writing easier. While I agree that the layout is anything but straightforward and sometimes I do not even know how to type a particular letter, most of the type it really is convienient. 2. I haven't used a screen protector and to be honest I do not know how the screen broke. It got its first scratch at the top-right of the front, because I dropped it accidentally. But the way it looks now... I really don't know how it happened. FxTec support is on vacations till the 2nd of January...

Sorry to ask again, but are you sure this one is expected to fit? Where did you get that information?

Somehow I managed to break the glass surface of the screen. The touchscreen itself works just fine. But what do I do now?

If this is the layout I get, it is more or less the right one. Edit: just tried it. The layout is not entirely random, but many cyrillic letters are somewhere different from where they should be. Still nice that it works at all.

Average usage (some video, some music, some browsing, emails and games) works for around 36 hours at the moment.

Another thing is, that those who actually got their device, are less likely to vote - simply because they are busy, while those waiting for one are more likely to vote as they are rather unsatisfied with the status quo. To give you a plastic example: I am busy with Christmas, family and my pro1 (in that order), so I did not feel like voting, because the poll does not really help.

What if I want to type in e.g. Russian on a QWERTZ keyboard?

I wish they had an issue tracker.
