  1. Glad you wrote this, I was considering trying it too but sounds a bit scary.
  2. Interesting! Used both SIM slots just to be safe. Got annoyed by the constant network traffic (google unstoppable updates...) before i managed to get VoWifi to do anything but never used it anyway, so no big loss if it doesn't work.
  3. After some messing with AUR I managed to get EDL installed and have made the backups. Anyone know if this applies to the Pro1x? (found in /e/os install guide) Warning: Make sure that you can send and receive SMS and place and receive calls (also via WiFi and LTE, if available), otherwise it will not work on /e/OS as well. Additionally, some devices require that VoLTE/VoWiFi be utilized once on stock to provision IMS.
  4. Thanks Hook. adb devices works in stock but adb shell find /dev/block/platform -name “by-name” -exec ls -Al -Z –color {} \; find: -exec without \; "adb reboot recovery" works. Skip dead robot. Then "adb devices" returns unauthorized. Skip step 5 then. adb shell find /dev/block/platform -name “by-name” -exec ls -Al -Z –color {} \; error: closed Probably because it is not authorised. Chosing ADB sideload makes "adb devices" return "sideload", but as above the find thing still doesn't work. Is "closed".
  5. Dead robot passed - thanks! Now looking at recovery, looks just like Hook's screenshot: Next should be step 5 - select advanced and enable ADB? Tried choosing "Apply update from ADB" but adb shell find /dev/block/platform -name “by-name” -exec ls -Al -Z –color {} \; * daemon not running; starting now at tcp:5037 * daemon started successfully error: closed "adb reboot recovery" did reboot the phone back to the dead robot 🙃
  6. Computer fixed, back to looking at this. I now see that before I can backup using adb I need a recovery (suggested from Lineage) but there is a big warning to backup before flashing. Even though 2 years on I see no mention of a successful method of restoring? I'm sure this would have made sense many years ago when the Pro1x should have arrived but I've not done anything phone related for a long time so it is confusing. Which is the correct thing to do? 1 - Flash something and forget the backup. The phone is so old it will never be sold and I have no interest in carrying a ful
  7. Thanks, reinstalled that but hasn't fixed adb. I have tried lots to fix the computer but definitely need to reinstall. Problem is I don't have anything installed to burn a dvd and my only USB stick died long ago while being used to record TV. Installing Gentoo in a chroot will take while but might be my best option 🙃
  8. I received my Pro1x maybe a month ago, switched it on (eventually...) to confirm it works and put it back in the box. Today I decided to try and play with it. Tried to backup using adb as detailed here but before step 5 I saw a dead (sleeping?) robot in the middle of the screen. So I tried to setup edl to use this guide instead but it wont install (log of the end of output attatched) Tried to update my system in the hope of fixing that as it has been neglected for months and that failed too... So back to adb. Which is now broken with the error below adb: error while loading shared l
  9. I've bought a Cubot King Kong Mini 2 and put Lineage on it - loving how small it is and with a weird keyboard (MessagEase) there are no downsides. Safe to say the Pro1 X will never be my daily phone even if it arrived tomorrow and I was lucky enough to have everything work perfectly. This message is as useful as their "update" so doesn't seem wrong to post it here 😞
  10. Me too! Hopefully sometime this year 🤣
  11. I'm sure the donation link works great, but does the work the donation is rewarding? Ducksoup and MrPib have installed it so that's a good start...
  12. And finally there's a donation button - the devs are real 😃 Not clicking it until someone tests it though, I would but still waiting...
  13. Thanks Casey, you too. Lets hope the update says something other than "after CNY" though it doesn't really matter as the Expansys third party handling service will do whatever they want, and like a lazy teenager that typically is as little as possible.
  14. Interesting answer but I'm pretty sure they just want it to work the same as a USB stick, like most phones do. Also desoldering anything on any device is definitely going to void your warranty 🤣
  15. That is concerning - you'd think being a UK based company this would be one place that it worked at least acceptably.
  16. Assuming the pads are ripped off you need to follow the traces to find somewhere to solder to. If they end in holes they will continue on the other side so take a pic of both sides without moving the camera then flip one and make it semi-transparent in a graphics program (gimp is free). Or post the pics and I'll have a look 🙂
  17. Many months ago (August?) they gave up on the idea of shipping with alternate OSes, to mass complaints. As long as they don't come with flat batteries having sat in the warehouse for months I'll be happy and as you know what it runs it seems they do 😃
  18. Wow, not a complete "mistake" with the some will be sent before Christmas in the last update.
  19. 100 of the budget version is a day is impressive especially as there's no Japanese keyboard. Maybe they can sell all the ones that don't work (maybe they work better with Japanese bands?) and make us some good ones for next Christmas.
  20. The way I look at it is that if I'd bought a different phone two years ago instead of backing the Pro1x it may well be broken and need replacing by now. Instead I've continued to use the phone that was already annoyingly half broken so in terms of money per year it has kinda paid for itself. I'm still expecting it to arrive sometime and even if it only works as a pocket computer (maybe with an external wi-fi antenna) it should still be useful alongside the small phone I'm now resigned to buying.
  21. If you want a community to work on something you need to give them the hardware. The few who did get their IGG perk delivered were not the most enthusiastic "Early Bird" orderers or those with the "Secret Community Perk" available through XDA they were seemingly chosen at random so that can't have helped. Then (if you believe the updates) anyone who was working on it was told to stop until they had a stable stock image, which as of today's update they're still "working on". Sounds like they've had three months and got nowhere - it must be really broken!
  22. Obvious no, but it is available - see the guide from Casey with a link.
  23. I haven't read anyone saying it gets worse (if that's even possible?) so it's probably worth trying? From the last update on IGG the battery issue is the big one so sounds like they're done fixing reception, though it's not explicitly mentioned. Why I have no idea but that could be said about something in most of the updates so we'll have to wait and see!
  24. Hi Björn, welcome to the "waiting" club! There have been updates since August - see the Indigogo page. The last one says shipping will hopefully be complete by Christmas though we'll have to wait and see if that actually happens.
  25. Assuming this field will now be shown/requested when you first sign in is there perhaps an option for a default that could say "write your device info here" @Casey?
