Only if not even having the hardware counts as a hardware problem!2 points

Your are one Year old now, I was hoping you d have grown up a little more, to a shipped order, or even a received order. But you are just a Pre Order, you can't do anything by yourself, and sometimes i really wondering "What s the Point". Fx Tec, got me last year with their news about OTA update, I told my self, wow those guys are really pros. I think you all remember this one: Then came most fraudulous email ever at the start of August And yet I fell for it and paid... Shipping in early September, what a joke, now you can tell it, when you got all the money1 point

You're preaching this to someone who's still using a Priv. The OS version absolutely does matter. Just the past few weeks I saw so many apps just randomly break off features, including BlackBerry's own software, and they are not responding to bugfix feedback. I can only think this will just get worse as developers stop focusing on Marshmallow. To have a brand new phone you're effectively cutting lifespan, which in turn factors in how much you pay for it. If it's a $100-200 prepaid Android I can see the lack of support but not a $700+ phone. The SoC would've still worked if the ther1 point

Downside to that is I can't use it as a BYOD device. Corporate software has stuff like bootloader and root checks, so custom OSes likely won't fly.1 point

Not yet, but several people have already indicated that they are interested in it, but for their part, it still depends on something... I am open to any good offer, whoever pays first will take it :)1 point

Can you take all the pictures again with the Pro1 camera? It might do a better job. 😅 Seriously, thanks a lot for taking the time to take them and post them online. LOL! Might depend on the cat. Yeah, I wonder if a coating of something would do exactly that (provide enough protection for very brief water exposure).1 point

Thanks for taking the time to take the photos and post the pictures. I haven't been active much otherwise I would have posted earlier when you had it apart, etc. Hope putting it back together worked well and the cat didn't feast on the guts. :-) I laughed about the gray spheroid. :-)1 point

@tdm or @Loader009 could either of you provide instructions for how to build my own images? I don't have my device yet, but at least I can automate the image building process. Note I also opened up a GitHub issue with this request. P.S. Has anyone tried using the Pro 1 on Sprint? Or better yet, the Pro 1 on Sprint with Lineage?1 point

I sent the email out seeking a service replacement, and F(x)tec advised me to contact them again in a couple weeks, when they will have started to ramp up production of QWERTY phones. I was impressed that they didn't just want to accept payment then wait and see.1 point

Yes, using it as my primary phone for 2 months unfortunately leaves a visible mark on the back of the device. But it seems only on the back, not elsewhere. When it wasn't in the car holder, I kept it in a horizontal belt bag or a desk holder... I'm sure I'll give Pro2 a chance too, because the direction is good :)1 point

Yes it is purely cosmetic only, and can easily be hidden with a cover (or film). I also noticed at the lower end on the last photo that it seems like a patch have been 'worn-off' too. So though sad, at the least nice to know that it seems rather easy to scuff.1 point

I used this universal holder, which I like: https://www.rammount.com/product-lines/x-grip Interesting, that it hasn’t left any mark on any of my other phones so far. If the virus is gone then I will order a back cover, then the phone will be in perfect condition again.1 point

https://imgur.com/gallery/fYWqIsG So, another two cents' worth: As mentioned, get the card tray out first. I realized that the one screw that gave both gelraen and myself trouble is under tension, which is probably the issue. I unfortunately happened to leave that one for last, it should probably be done first, while the screen support is being held by the other two screws. Also as mentioned, the F(x)tec .pdf describes the required screwdriver as PH0. That will not work, they are either PH00 or PH0000. I was able to reuse the little black stickers. Just peel them carefu1 point

Thanks to your comment I've finally decided to publish my teardown guide I've been working on for some time 🙂 https://gelraen.github.io/fxtec-pro1-teardown/ (forum topic)1 point

It seems to be a different battery company you linked. Not the same address and googling I see no relation between "Sunshine" and "Guoxia", and they claim it to be established in 2013 not 2018.1 point

If it is not too late an single picture from less close by showing the entire opened part of the bottom half would be nice, same for the screen side and bottom of keyboard. Thanks very much for documenting this :). Surprisingly little damage visible from the water.1 point

Actually, it's late for me, so I've safely stored the thing in a cat inaccessible area, and I'll rebuild it tomorrow night.1 point

One thing I find interesting is that Sprint customers can now automatically roam on t-mobile LTE, but for some reason they're not letting tmo customers roam on sprint lte.0 points

I realize that. That's why the price was reasonable six months ago with the delivery promise. I read about FXTec every week, and they give us lapidary excuses. No own admission of guilt, no idea of compensation for the damages incurred on the customer side. I wish all of you that you will not have to wait much longer. For me the matter is now over. Thanks a lot! I'm disheartened to see that it seems to be a custom battery tailored for the Pro1!! 😱 Searching for GX5036108PLN with various spaces inserted does not seem to lead to anything relevant. So this leaves us with no known alternative source if F(x)tec -for whatever reason- should stop ordering/offering them. Though we now know where it was produced: "Dongguan Guoxia Electronic Technology Co. Ltd", that at the least is known with an address here0 points

So looks like this is the battery source (the company, not the wholesale web site hosting the company's catalog. https://sunshinelec.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6008825825782/Showroom/3000000213584/15428/Mobile-phone-battery.htm Looks like they only work wholesale and are not consumer oriented. They don't list a replacement battery for our phone so it is probably special order in batches. Unless it's one of the Samsung batteries, lol. But I couldn't find any leads. Guess we have to depend on F(x) Tec to get spare batteries, maybe after (if) operations become normal.0 points
