  1. I don't think that the frame is the same since it looks so much different on Elephone U Pro. Pictures of Pro1: https://mobile.twitter.com/chenliangchen/status/1163524008471605249

  2. Perfect, no use ordering the "frame included" version then. Thanks

  3. Of course not. But we do not live in a world in which things tend to be what they are for good technical reasons (let alone for reasons of human needs), and Google, of all companies, can hardly be expected to change that... Renowned SF writer Cory Doctorow published a piece about the issue just a couple of days ago, it's titled "How to destroy Surveillance Capitalism" – but actually I think even he's still too optimistic.

  6. I've just updated to the newest build (20200831). The Lineage page doesn't list any changes since last week, so I don't expect anything to act different except the notification going away. I have now activated the option to auto-delete the update file after updating. Maybe that's why I didn't get the prompt to restart my phone to finish installation. I restarted manually then and everything was fine afterwards.

  7. Buy screen protectors made for Elephone U Pro, those will work.

  8. The community list we made last year is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15uE12Yv5nMvIF42U33cY5FQoF6M66QIn00cC876uf7Y/edit?usp=sharing Pretty sure most of the stuff you're mentioning is covered. We've been waiting for stock fixes for a very very very long time.

  10. The device is rather busy for a couple minutes after boot. So the issue is probably load related (as I think we have all suspected for some time). I'm currently out of town, but I'll try to get you a debug kernel next week that shows what keys are being pressed and released. You can correlate that to your typing to see if the issue is in the kernel or in Android.

  11. Looking at a pic that I took yesterday on the rear camera in portrait mode. The EXIF data says rotation is "4", eg. bottom-left. If I remove the EXIF data, the image rotates +90 so that the top is shown on the right side. So it seems the physical camera sensor is mounted sideways. I can see how an app would generate a picture that is sideways, but I am confused how an app would generate a picture that is upside down. I'll have to look into this some more.

  12. 🤔 So I formatted my SD and everything was fine and dandy all day and then the Pro 1 told me the card was not compatible and had to be reformatted. Did so, then the card would no longer be recognized. My Mac can't read it either. Is it the card? Is it the card socket? Did the phone bust the card? Not really happy to try again with known working cards, will likely order a cheap one to experiment with. Oh, and that card tray? That needs a push-pin redesign, I'm running out of fingernails here…

  13. I have Samsung EVO microSDXC 128Gb (UHS-I, up to 100 MB/s) card and Pro1 is able to recognize it. The phone just wanted to reformat the card before I was able to use it as an external drive.

  14. first time when i was looking, i opened files and the card was not showing there as it should yes i got an app called sd card manager that i downloaded. well before buying 512gb, i bought 256gb and when i inserted that the pro1 detected it straight away but did asked to format it. but later when i got 512gb and inserted the pro1 didnt detected it or popup any msg to format it.

  15. It was probably formatted as exFAT before. That is the standard format for cards larger than 32 GB. But for a device to read that, they have to pay money to Microsoft. The surface pro, being a Microsoft device, can obviously read it. The Note 8, being from a company with billions of dollars, has paid for the licensing. Fxtec hasn't paid for the licensing. However, Microsoft has now made the code available for free, so it should be coming in some future version of the firmware. When you say that it didn't show the first two times, were you looking in Settings->Storage, or thought

  16. When i first inserted Samsung Evo 512gb sd card in pro1 it didn't read or detect it and no sd card was showing. i take it out and tested in my Note8 and surface pro, it worked on both. so i put it back in Pro1 and it still didn't show. so while trying to make it work i went to sd card manager and there it showed that my sd card in not formatted in fat32 and gave me an option to reformat. after reformatting the sd card works fine

  17. Yeah, not sure what happened with diskmgmt and diskpart. I am surprised Windows can't read it after being formatted. Are you sure you picked the option, in android, to use the card to store external files, and not the one that combines it with internal storage? The latter will format it in a way that isn't recognized by windows. And Android won't view it as external storage, hence won't show it as separate with MTP. WiFi, with 802.11ac isn't super duper slow. If your router doesn't support 802.11ac, but your pc does, you can turn on the phone Hotspot and connect the computer to
