So let's just hope that "something special" is indeed not a waste of resources and that f(x)tec will be able to deliver whatever it is so the momentum is not lost. At the end - and again I am speculating - it boils down to f(x)tec being a very minor customer with no importance at all for their chinese manufacturers, hence the backlog of 1 year in production. So yes, if "something special" generates new demand and thus bigger batches to be ordered it might actually speed up the production and delivery. I'll keep my fingers crossed an

  2. It is still easier to buy a 3rd-party display and replace it by experienced repair personnel. It is a bit more complicated to change only the screen but it should be easy for experienced personnel. So if the display frame is in a relatively good condition, it may be a better (much faster) choice. The assembly can only be supplied by F(x)tec and the question is the availability. If I remember well, it costs around 150 GBP.

  3. Thank you for the quick response. I expected as such, it definitely haven't ruled out the Pro1 for me because of the sliding qwerty physical keyboard is practically unique now a days. I'd love to have the ability to be notify if they have a build up of stock. I'd even drive to London to pick one up from them if I could.

  4. It's hard to predict, but in the F(x) Tec store they say 10-12 weeks, so, yes, 2-3 months is the fastest you might receive the phone right now. That could change if they reach the point where they build up stock, but until they do and change the information in their store, I wouldn't count on it. The Pro 1 is worth waiting for, but if you can't wait, you can't wait. When My phone died waiting for the Pro 1, I went out and picked up a cheap Moto phone to get me through.

  5. I am using a 512 GB micro sd card in my Pro1. When you receive your card, I suggest you to test it before use with H2testw (Windows) or F3 (Linux) to ensure it works properly and it is not a fake card.

  7. I have very rarely seen such an active community around a new phone. Would be really sad if it was all for nothing πŸ˜• It means there are lots of people with interest in FXTecs products.

  8. @Ralf as neither of us know what it is all about, it is much a guessing game. In a small company people have to fill a lot of slots. But it is not that everyone can fill every slot... So using marketing hands for say packing or service are not likely to be very effective way to use their resources. But sure we would all wish they were able to fulfil pending orders and service request faster, but as we do not know neither what is holding things up, nor what this new stuff is all about we have absolutely no idea if the same hands behind this could sensibly have been used for fulfilling

  11. Hello I'm looking to purchase the Pro1. I have an IPhone 6s from 2015 so the specs are not a concern to me because anything is an upgrade at this point and I love the keyboard but I'm curious about delivery times. As the impatient 90's Kid I am, if I have to wait 2-3 months I may not choose this phone as an option. So if I order today (I live in the UK in the south) when will I receive the phone. If anyone has had long delivery times, let me now. I'm guessing, because its technically a pre-order, they are produced by batches and just I'll when the next batch is releas

  12. I think it is better to let the phone do it. However, for testing, you may use any filesystems under Windows, but it is important to go through writing and also reading the whole SD card and check if everything were okay.

  13. Got an answer from support today asking for a couple more pictures of my phone. Was probably overthinking if I should reduce JPEG quality for filesize or send the hires original. Sent the original sizes using several mails anyway. πŸ˜…

  15. I hope you will receive a reply soon but take attention of not sending them further e-mails as it would put you back to the end of the queue. What kind of crack you have? Is it a user error like dropping the phone? I think guarantee-related repairs are prioritized but it should not related to the response time of support. Anyway, if it is an issue not covered by warranty, it may be faster to order a replacement screen (only screen, not with assembly) from Aliexpress (made for Elephone U Pro) and bring it to a good repair shop for replacement...

  17. Rest assured that's not happening anytime soon. Operating Systems today are designed around HID. Human Interface Device is the protocol enabling pretty much any kind of input devices regardless of the hardware interface I2C, USB, BT. Keyboards are just one of them. That's not to say keyboard support won't deteriorate further but it is very unlikely to ever be dropped altogether.

  18. I think there's enough people using bluetooth keyboards, oddball devices like android TV with keys on the remote and the likes to prevent us from falling into that dystopia. And let us not forget that no matter how small, all of us here are also making a difference too :). If we were to end up in a future where Android doesn't inherently have keyboard support, the only possible solution would probably be to use another OS as troublesome as that'd be.

  19. I very much agree with you, I think it is only a matter of time before both Android and Ios drop the support for hardware keyboards at a deep level. At that point it will be up to any hardware manufacturer to provide the support, and this is likely going to be so costly that there are not enough of us keyboard-lovers left to make this sustainable, and we will have to let do with fake 'keyboards' on the screen. Unless of course both types will die together in favour of some totally new efficient way for humans to communicate with the devices. e.g. 'speak' without air and with the lips

To add to what @EskeRahn and @VaZso already said – the reality of economy, including what is necessary for a company to even just survive, can be something completely different than what customers feel they're entitled to. Even if they righteously and legitimately feel that way. For me, it's been over a year now that I ordered my ProΒΉ, and since QWERTZ keyboards are out of stock I expect it will be at least another one or two months. Still I guess we're all lucky. Because despite the catastrophic situation they've been in at least since the pandemic hit China, F(x)tec has still not
