  1. Minor update: run-down tested repaired cell - using CPU/GPU-intensive benchmarks for several hours. Got down to 3% and 3.45V while pulling ~1.3A on OpenCL benchmark - terminated test at this point. Definitely was close to rated 3100mAh. I tried the trick of using a charger with 1A and 2.1A outputs, but even when connected to the 1A output, it charges at 1.5A (so obviously my charger does not signal the 1A charging rate, or current-limit the supposed 1A output). In fact, I tried 2 different chargers and on all of them it charges at 1.5A. (More specifically the "Max USB current" parameter i

  2. As far as I know, those are real keys with tactile feedback but with a e-paper-like display area.

  3. Hmm, interesting, thanks @Rob. S.. Looks like I may need to poke around a bit more... I have dealt a bit with Qualcom PMIC before, but this one may be completely different, who knows! Will report if I find a solution 🙂

  4. That would be awesome! It would be awesome if they were able to do that within the PRO¹ keyboard area...

  5. I am afraid this version is exactly the same as previous version was (because of Christmas). 🙂 (I look at the changelog for every new releases and this was the only one yet which did not had any changes. 🙂 )

  6. For limiting the maximum charge level, I use the Magisk module 'Advanced Charging Controller' (ACC) which also has a corresponding app (AccA). In normal use, I let it stop charging at 75% and start again when the level is down to 70%. ACC also has options to limit charging current and voltage, but these don't work with all phones and it seems they specifically don't work with ours. Neither do we have a 'battery idle mode' which could be prioritsed by ACC (completely bypass the battery when charger is connected and battery does not need charging).

  7. Personally I hope for e-ink keys like they had on the "Alias 2" a.k.a. "SCH-U750" Samsung made for Verizon. An ingenious solution, fitting 'any' language or gaming...

  8. I think I actually have the same/a similar problem on LineageOS 18.1 Edit: Observed it so far on Google Maps and the app "MVG Fahrinfo" (for public transport in Munich) and I think on a few more apps, which I currently cannot recall. But everytime it happened, it was only concerning some apps and was fixed by a reboot.

  9. Hi mbecroft, I had this problem too: the offer of a replacement was delayed from October - so I ordered the screen replacement from aliexpress. I just fitted it this afternoon, and it wasn't too difficult - all working now 🙂 Reason I'm here is while there's an official video for replacing the whole screen unit, I couldn't find one for replacing just the screen itself. So I was flying blind and a bit worried about damaging things as you have to prise the screen off the frame. As mentioned it turned out not to be difficult, but if anybody has a link to a "replacing just the screen

  10. (lineage-18.1-20211227-nightly-pro1-signed.zip on December 5 security patch installed smoothly using OTA ) ...But the reintroduced (early August) Accessibility / keyboard bug is not (yet) fixed. The stage after download and install called "Finalising package installation" is surprising slow though)

  11. I just need to find the right way to poke the PMIC to limit charge rate (and charge only up to 80 or 90% for longer life).

  12. Yes, never trust the rated max output on a charger! Especially if it is an 'unknown' brand. I always use a meter to test, and have seen both way below and quite a bit above the rating. As many in here will know, I also recommend charging at no more than 5W for daily charges. I only use fast charge when I really need it, and not for full charges.

  13. Yup. The keys are just as real as on e.g. the Pro1. They are transparent, and right under them is an e-ink display, I bought one just to have it. I have considered to buy one of the defective ones you can get on ebay for $20 just to take it apart... But shipping and customs would add some $40, so have been too stingy.... Add: Just ordered one anyway.... (See e.g. this for images and a video)

  14. Isn't one of the major benefits of a phone like this tactile button feedback? You'd lose that with keys printed on a screen.

  15. Of course you are right. I'm just venting my frustration at them having too little resources to invest in proper keyboard layouts which is somewhat central to that hardware... Hopefully their next hardware replaces the keyboard prints layer with a flexible OLED screen for maximum layout customisation.

  16. "Working on their next phone" might not be that absurd after all... If everything would have gone well with the Pro1, I suppose 2021 would have been the proper year to introduce a Pro2 anyway... And with the kind of stopgap the Pro1X has become and all the additional design work that had become necessary now done, I suppose that, commercially, getting a new, attractive phone ready is really the most import thing for them now...

  17. @SlionSadly all too true in general... However... 😃 !!! I FIXED IT !!! 😃 Disassembly was easy with guide referenced above on github. Actually impressed by how repairable this phone is. Removed battery (cell), did the "prick a hole in the cell to release the gas" trick (don't try this at home - see below). Put it back together and my phone is working just fine after 4 hours' careful work. Will be ordering a new battery from Indiegogo. Obviously, the battery is degraded but phone is working 100%. Yay! * * * The full story... Root cause analysis: I now think it

  18. So it looks like FxTec is still hard at work designing the X and when I asked them to review their AZERTY design a couple of months ago they said they can't do that because they are already working on their next phone... I call bullshit 🤣 Basically they are so all over their heads just getting the basic phone features working that they don't have the resources to actually work on proper keyboard layouts. They also brilliantly fail at using their community to do it for them. You can tell I'm still quite frustrated that they use my original AZERTY proposal without getting in touch firs

  19. Obviously, that was just a joke 😄. I knew that I was playing mostly with bots. Actually PUBG supports keyboard but it is not very practical on Pro1 since you can't remap the keys. You could use third party apps for remapping but you might end up being banned 🤷‍♂️.
