He said MI6 was asking questions. I told him to send them to @EskeRahn.

I just received and paid the PayPal invoice for this special ebay order. It came out to $16.05, plus the original $9.99 for the service. So $26.04 total for 1600 stickers, which should last me a while, if I don't lose them and if they work for this application. Here is the breakdown, in British pounds:

I installed Explorer and got the same result. I can't try the gallery app, because it is pay. Can you try the one I am using? I bet it will work for you. Something is messed up on my phone. I am guessing some other setting or app is causing this. If anyone else has the issue, we might be able to find the root cause together, by comparing apps/settings. It seems odd that the image viewer doesn't show in the defaults screen. That might be part of the puzzle, unless that is how Android normally operates. I will check on a Pixel 1, running Android 10, to see if it shows the image

Certain keys not working initially? [fixed bug in old ROM]

Just verified this. Rebooted. Couldn't type y or h until I hit another key first. I can close and open the keyboard and type y and h fine though. -
I figured, for the extra 81 cents, I would get the extra stickers, since I would be paying 10 times the price with the service fee and shipping fees. 😁 I'll be prepared, in case I find a crate of Pro1s on the side of the road. Or I open a repair business. Or if they fall off often. Or if it takes me hundreds of attempts to cut the non-circular ones at the corners of the keyboards.

I retested, and with Solid Explorer, it works. With Total Commander, it asks every time. With X-Plore, it uses its internal viewer. With the default camera app, it asks every time (and when I select my gallery app, and it opens, somehow does use the gallery app, but still shows in the app screen that I am in the camera app). With the pocophone gcam app, it uses its own internal viewer. The gallery app I am using is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photosgo I did try picking another app to use always, but same results.

Would you be able to post some screenshot of the screens? I think we are looking in the same places, but mine is acting differently. Also, which file manager and which gallery app?

Yh I just typed those after closing and opening the phone. Does it happen every time for you? What do you have your keyboard language set to? Mine is set to default (qwerty version too). I don't use fin qwerty, but I do have SwiftKey installed. -
I did a buy-it-now from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/UK-GB-Parcel-Package-Forwarding-Shopping-Assistance-Service-Personal-Shopper/182997047405 In the notes for the seller, I put: I haven't received my invoice from them yet, but it is the weekend. I ordered some screen ribbon cables for my Relay 4G phone a few months ago through them, and I did receive them. Same situation, where they were not available in the USA, and the seller would not ship to the USA. The company does seem to ship to other countries too.

I did do a factory reset a couple times. It sounds like Hook might have as well. Maybe that is the missing link to fixing the issue?

I am unable to set the default app to view images. Every app that can open an image pops up the dialog to ask which app to use and whether just once or always, but it won't remember "always". If I go into the defaults in settings, it does not show any app set as the default for images. If I go into the system settings for the app I have selected to always open images, it does show that it has been set as the default for certain actions, but won't say which, and only allows clearing them. Am I alone here? Can anyone else set the default app to always view images? UPDATE: See belo

I ordered the "good" stickers (black, matte, vinyl) from the UK eBay, through a service that buys things on ebay within the UK and the ships them to the USA.

Are you sure you weren't recording a video monitor playing back a recording of a video monitor playing back a recording of a washing machine?
-
There are hardware drivers (meaning a physical device that provides the AC current to the motor) and software drivers. You are talking about the latter. Do you have an app that interfaces with the software driver of the Pro1 to increase the amplitude AC wave that the hardware driver sends to the motor, to increase the vibration strength? None of the apps I could find could increase the strength. They could only increase the duration of the vibration or send patterns of off/on.

What did the default app do?
-
The camera hardware is the same as the Pixel 3 (Sony IMX363). That is a flagship level camera. Much of what makes photos better in modern cell phones is done through software. The default camera app that comes with the Pro1 doesn't have millions of dollars off research and development behind it. But you can run the same camera app that Google uses in their phones, so in theory, it should be able to produce photos as good as the Pixel 3.

Phone batteries die like that after 2+ years. The good news is that the Pro1 was designed to be taken apart with a screwdriver. This should make replacing the battery easier than other, contemporary phones. The bad news is that we don't currently have a source where we can buy the batteries from. Fxtec has stated they will make parts available at some point.

Mine doesn't do that.

I spent some time looking at the dragon picture at various light levels. I am not seeing the harsh transition from black to near black in the lower right that is shown in those camera photos. To me, it looks like jpg compression artifacts in the photos posted, but it is unclear if those were introduced in the photo process or are like that on the original screen/app being used to display the photo. I only see harsh transitions at under 40% brightness in that picture, and only in the far right side of the lower right of the photo, in 3 areas. I have to look hard to see it. It isn't as pron

Same here. I've been *very* impressed with the battery life on the Pro1 with the stock rom.

Ugh. I just noticed there are no black stickers in what I ordered. Lol

Fixed. Typed on the Pro1. 🙂

I tried to buy on the USA ebay and they would not ship to my address. Not sure why they are listed there. I did find a different seller. They did not mention vinyl and did not allow picking color or finish, but I bought some.
-
Have you tried them? Are they paper or more like a plastic material? The ones on the phone, from photos on here, seemed to be thicker. Oh, I just saw they mentioned vinyl in the description. Those sound promising.

I read up on AppWereRabbit. Seems like the UI can be confusing, but that it is powerful. I will probably try it out. I appreciate the pointer. Did I read that oandbackup isn't being updated anymore? I know, and I really don't like them doing this. It better not get to the point where they remove the code for SD access or make a change that breaks it. One thing I like about Swift Backup, but haven't tested yet, is the ability to backup to a Webdav server. This is meant to be in the cloud, but it should be possible to run your own, and put backups on a LAN PC.
