Can't believe it's finally happened. (Cracked Screen)
Noob replied to MickH's topic in General Discussion
A quick update on the Brotect screen protector; it feels great to the touch but it started to lift from one of the bottom corners. 😞 I think it may be a little bit too long and was overhanging after I applied it, or maybe there was a tiny portion of the corner that didn't adhere. Now I need to buy some more screen protectors. Also, I find my Pro1 is now more loose, especially from the bottom left corner. When I tap the screen the whole assembly moves and taps into the keyboard assembly. I'm not sure if I need to tighten a screw, as the screws I unscrewed were higher up on the assembly -

Also as a side note, until I repaired my screen I made use scrcpy to mirror my screen on to my computer. It does need ADB debug mode enabled, so your screen does need to work well enough to do that if you haven't done so beforehand. -

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and shared experiences. I fitted my replacement screen on the weekend and my Pro1 is whole again! I ended up not using the glue strips provided with the screen and just used the B7000 glue all around, albeit a bit unevenly. Some came out the sides as I pushed down, though I'm not sure if I applied enough in the bottom corners (though so far it's holding well). The biggest hassle was peeling off the black sticker from the old screen and unfurling it on the new screen. The screen doees rattle on the let side a bit more now though, maybe I need to -
Display units with large tap-insensitive margin

Unfortunately I couldn't find a clean way. There was one promising tool, called Migrate that I installed but didn't end up using because I wasn't sure I had enough on-device storage and didn't have a blank SD card on hand. What I did instead was take multiple different backups: - I set up regular rsync backups of my entire /sdcard directory (this is the internal user storage partiton) to my NAS using the rsync server of my Synology NAS and Syncopoli, including just before the wipe. This worked great, and I could probably have used it for the whole device storage if I'd run it as root ( -

So, just to confirm, is there no way to fix the issue with LineageOS 18.1, even with Magisk installed for root? -

I took the plunge and ordered a couple of screens from a seller, while also emailing Fxtec support about purchasing a complete display as a replacement. The replacements arrived quicker than a response from Fxtec support. 😮 I didn't actually think it would arrive so quickly so I didn't order the glue in time. So either I just replace the screen without the glue this weekend, or wait another few days. -
Pro¹ X – state of production and delivery

I got this as part of a response last week from Fxtec support in relation to my broken screen issue: That was a week ago so anything could have happened since, but even if things are still on track and manufacturing was complete, I expect it'd still take time to package the manufactured phones and have them ready for shipping. -

Not sure if this was obvious to everyone else, but I had no idea what VTS was and had to look it up. -

In my case, I've purchased something earlier this year that was delivered with "Aliexpress Selection Standard" (no idea how that differs from "Aliexpress Standard Shipping" other than it has a sooner estimated date). It seemed to use some courier specific to AliExpress through China, then Singapore Post, then Australia Post. According to their tracking it's been delivered but it never made it to me and I can't get any info from the tracking other than "AU delivered". First time I've ordered through AliExpress and not a great experience (on top of just trying to use their horribly crap websi -

I dropped mine and cracked the screen a couple of months ago. 😠At first it was just the glass that was broken and the screen was fully functional (touch and display). Unfortunately, now the bottom fifth of the screen flickers on and off but is mostly off. Fxtec support sent me a link to an AliExpress seller, but my first experience with AliExpress has been poor (delivery in limbo). Does anyone know of sellers on eBay? Also, will I still need to downgrade from LOS 18.1 to stock to fix the edges problem? -
A belated update to my earlier post, I followed up my enquiry with another email and this time Fxtec support responded within a few hours. As per some of the previously posted responses, it also mentioned end of year holidays and quarantine for the delay.

What's the average response time to a support request from FxTec these days? I posted a message about 9 days ago, nothing back other than the automated response.

Isn't one of the major benefits of a phone like this tactile button feedback? You'd lose that with keys printed on a screen. -
I had this problem today, and as described the problem was that the display half had "popped out" on the top-left side. Popping it back in got it working again, thanks for posting the fix.

How to customize the keyboard layout on LineageOS 18.1?

Has anyone had issues charging their phone? This has happened to me twice this week, worked again after a restart. EDIT: My mistake, thought I posted to the Lineage 18.1 thread. 😦 -
How to customize the keyboard layout on LineageOS 18.1?

If you're willing to spend a few bucks, another build option is to use AWS or a similar cloud instance. It's been a while since I've done it, but in the past I used a super grunty EC2 and built Lineage in under 2 hours. Good to do as a once off, but maybe not so much for frequent builds, especially if it's incremental. -

@VaZso there's also this Docker image you can use. It didn't work for me in Windows 7, but worked in Linux and I think the Docker experience is much better if you're on W10, which you must be if you're using WSL. -

Interesting, does it work for anyone else on 18.1? Because I get nothing. -

Well I guess any app when I'm typing that doesn't have a built-in emoji button (like Whatsapp and Signal do), for example SMS. I'd be happy to select the emoji on-screen, but I need some way to open the emoji selection if some keyboard shortcut exists. I see the Alt key has a yellow emoji icon but it doesn't seem to do anything. I know there's an option to still show the on-screen keyboard when the physical keyboard is active, but it shows the entire redundant keyboard, at least when using the AOSP keyboard or AnySoftKeyboard. All I'd really want in this case is a small keyboard that o -

Also, is there a way to type an emoji with the physical keyboard? So far I've just had to switch back to the on-screen keyboard for this. -

Does anyone else have issues where the screen doesn't turn on for an incoming phone call? It's only happened a handful of times so far but all but once I've had to restart the phone by holding the power key for 10s to recover from this. -

Wow, that's great news. 😀 Maybe I've become jaded over the years but I was expecting delays until the end of the year. Kudos to FxTec for making steady progress and keeping up the communication. The keyboard backlight video looked interesting, hopefully the light will be more evenly spread across the keys than the bright spots we get currently. -

I updated to the 20210621 MicroG build a week ago. I'm not sure if it's because of that or because I disabled my Magisk AptX module before the update, but Bluetooth seems much better for me now. -
I thought I'd share more of my thoughts since this post last April. I considered just posting in this thread but didn't really want to necro it after close to a year and my feelings on the phone aren't that much in common. So in no particular order: + It's so much faster and smoother than my Droid 4. For those of you who left the stone age long before me I'm sure this is no big deal, but I'm still happy with instant UI responses and fast internet. Before I was lucky to get a 1 or 2 mbit, especially as 3G was continually reprovisioned to 4G. Now it's tested as over 100! Who needs

LineageOS 18.1 Official Release for Pro1

OK then, then I can only hope if anything it's an issue specific to the build that I've installed (on MicroG so only one update a month).
