  1. Ohhhhhhh.....yeah, that would be terrible. That is one of the reasons I insist on a physical keyboard.....aside from being FAR more efficient as an input device, it also uses zero screen real estate. It's wonderful. :) You are getting one hopefully before Christmas, right? ;)
  2. Messenger in desktop mode is why I use it that way LOL. It is cumbersome on a marginally-specced device, though. My Droid 4 requires patience doing this. It also requires you to actually have it open.....but that's OK with me. :)
  3. I did it the long way; I didn't pay on the preorder payment request, but much later at the current higher price because of money issues in my world. As a result, I did preorder, and I did pay, but there probably isn't a correlation there at all.
  4. Well, that's one way to do it.....I wouldn't even trust it that much, but to each their own.
  5. It takes serious good character to admit when you make a mistake. It's nice to know some people still do!
  6. Oh man, DOS and a real serial port on a pocket device? I may have to see if these could be repurposed for working with old PLCs! :) I have not had any LTE issues with my Droids to date, though Verizon has warned me that due to upcoming network changes, I will lose LTE on it at some point and be limited to 3G, which they will also be decommissioning at some point. :( I actually bought the Priv because of impending network changes that it supported and the D4 did not, but didn't like it all that well, and now just use it as a tablet for watching videos over wifi. I occasionally do use its k
  7. Still more reasons not to install the FarceBook Spy App! :)
  8. It works for FarceBook too. I refuse to install their spyware, so on the rare occasions when I feel compelled to access Farcebook for a minute, that's exactly what I do. For that matter, I have Brave (only browser I use anymore) set to Desktop Mode on my Droid 4 so it always requests the desktop site. They just look so much better in landscape. The Priv.....well, portrait. :O
  9. Also the setup doesn't ask if you'd like to disable it, so you're left with it unless you happen to wonder if it can be disabled, and dig through the settings. Nothing weird here except BlackBerry LOL. I don't hate BlackBerry, but I do feel that making the keyboard a trackpad was a weird idea.
  10. I'm just using the 14.1 nightly that was the newest I could find and it's working well enough. It works better with zram turned off and a real swapspace on an SD card. I never install GcrApps, and wonder whether I called them that first or you did......I've been calling them that for sometime. :) I'm using Brave browser, occasionally Sygic navigation, Jota text editor, the stock LOS camera, gallery, and files program, and some other non-GcrApp stuff. It's good enough for now. I'm sitting on the couch typing fairly fast on a fully tactile keyboard.....life is good. It will be better when the Pr
  11. Fruit rollups are sooooo last century......now we have SCREEN rollups! :O That sounds durable......
  12. That being the case, I'd not wish to undo this, as the Pro1 has plenty of space, and this is a nice failsafe. Theoretically then one could have the stock OS loaded in one and LOS in the other. How would one switch between these?
  13. China to Hong Kong could be by ground also. One can reasonably drive a truck/lorry from the major industrial centers in China to Hong Kong.
  14. I don't mind using a real trackpad, though I heartily prefer a real mouse, but having to use the screen as a trackpad sounds cumbersome, because you're obscuring things with your finger as you're moving them. To each their own. Options are wonderful--that's my takeaway value. I sincerely appreciate that people are so willing to provide options. EDIT: just realized what you meant about borrowing a display, which solves the obscuring issue. That could actually be pretty cool.
  15. So in other words, the hardware is common, but to get the software I'd need.....a connection. :)
  16. Ditto! Replying on it now, as usual. :) LOS 14?
  17. Hey, it's like the old Irish joke: "Two Irishman walk out of a Dublin pub." It COULD happen! 😛
  18. Sure, it's definitely possible, as it could be done entirely in software, but I do question whether or not it would be usable. Can we get an adapter to plug in a real mouse? LOL
  19. I just hope the Pro2 has a flat screen with a proper bezel like the Droid 3 (but not hexile, please....I never minded it, but others hated it) so this is all a non-issue. Curved screens are pandering to the type of people who don't buy this category of device anyway. It was IMO a poor choice, but it may have come down to what was quality and available at a reasonable cost and with good availability.
  20. They likely have not assigned all units from the batch yet, and not all emails have been sent. Just a guess, of course.
  21. I was explaining my reasoning TO you, not ABOUT you. However, being confusing is sort of a specialty of mine, and in a forum where everyone rather shouts at once, well, being confusing is especially easy. :O No apology needed; it was a simple misunderstanding. No harm done and no hard feelings.
  22. Yes, an Intel chipset which can run "real" programs would be more suited to me as a laptop replacement; that said, there are certainly very few cases where I would run "real" programs on a 7" machine, given the option of something with a bit more screen real estate.
  23. Is this access costly to acquire, or can one gain such power with common household tools and esoteric but financially accessible software?
  24. There CLEARLY is N900 influence in the Pro1. It's like the N900 and the Droid 4 had a baby, and the Pro1 appeared. :)
  25. I'd LOVE to know what all those tools are! Are we discussing something beyond fastboot + USB? It seems like that would be all that's needed.
