  1. My favorite is long hold the back button to kill the foreground app. That is a feature from CM days.
  2. This is exactly why I would LOVE a de-Googled stock ROM, and while you're at it take out AdUp so it doesn't overwrite a Googled ROM over the top. PLEASE do this! However, are you prepared to rebuild it every time they update, at least when there's major corrections involved, like the HDMI driver? If so, I would DEFINITELY use it. The only things I preferred about Lineage were customizations I don't necessarily have to have, and being able to have the stock drivers on board would be valuable to me.
  3. Wow, that's quite a racket! That kind of grift would never fly in most places......how have they not been subject to regulation?
  4. Another $100 to Uncle Sam is definitely not going to talk me out of my Pro1. It might talk me out of my second one, or at least into waiting a little longer. I understand about informed consent; the problem is that no one expected manufacturing to take as long as it did. That is what it is, and no one can change it at this point. $100 doesn't stand between me and anything I truly wish to have at this point. I'm not rich but I have enough to get what I need and some of what I desire. The Pro1 is definitely on my "desire intensely" list. :)
  5. Haha, there is definitely something to be said for not getting the first few devices in a run while they're still learning how to do it. :)
  6. I would imagine this is based on a wholesale price, not its retail selling price, but it's hard to say. It might be applied to the wholesale price when a reseller is importing them, and the retail price when buying direct. All I can say for certain is that the government of China is evil, and anything that incentivises building things elsewhere is a net good for humanity (although arguably bad for the Chinese people) and I'm willing to pay a little extra to facilitate that. I can also see where F(x)tec got backed into a corner by timing on this one and found themselves facing significantl
  7. Here we are: the people who ordered late; back of the line, paying full price. We'll all get it eventually. Welcome to the future Pro1 lovers' club. :)
  8. Well, hopefully that becomes possible soon. :)
  9. I'll probably use a mule device to get a SIM of the appropriate size and then insert and BLAMMO! They'll never know the difference. Of course, I might just take it to the local VaZelon store to see their faces. I might even stick a recording Droid in a pocket with a hole to get candid reaction video. :P
  10. I would say our experiences are pretty similar. I am using LOS14.1 and Brave Browser, K9 mail, and little else. I occasionally use Sygic Navigation, and it's slow to load, but works fine once it's up. Polaris Ride Command is a total dog, but actually does work if you're REALLY patient. I found that switching from zram to true swap on the SD (su, swapoff /dev/block/zram0, swapon /mnt/media_rw/XXXX-XXXX/swapfile on every reboot) gives MUCH better reliability and far fewer random reboots with slightly better performance under some circumstances because it has more real RAM available. But in some
  11. I do agree with this, but to me it's not a game-changer. I often use old OS versions long after support ends (I'm still using WinXP occasionally LOL)
  12. Well, the dates have changed, but the principle has not, and now some of us have our devices! Soon we all shall have them! Also, no touchscreen typing here LOL; I daily drive a Droid4, and use a PRIV occasionally in the evening. Physical keyboards for the win! 🙂
  13. I trust you'll share your BYOP experience. 🙂
  14. That you are creating an EDL package for the rest of us to recover our bricks is simply amazing! I'm so grateful! Thank you! With friends like you, this project cannot fail!
  15. I think the most common themes here are that the Pro2 should have a smaller size available and have dual SIM plus simultaneous uSD and not drop any of the other features, such as the 1/8" jack. Personally I would love it if the Pro2 came in the same size as the Droid 3, which in most ways was my favorite phone of all time. If it weren't for Gingerbread and 512MB (mostly 512MB, because that was so limiting for custom ROMs) I'd probably still be using it. Given the choice, I'd have picked a slightly smaller Pro over what is available now. I'm sure I'll love the Pro1 but if I could get a Pro2mini
  16. I see no point in F(x)tec ever doing portrait while BlackBerry still is. My Droid battery died so I'm on my PRIV...there's nothing wrong with this thing if you like portrait......which I don't, but oh well. It's a good phone, and in some good ways reminds me of my old Palm Treo 650 and 700p. There's no reason to duplicate BB's efforts.
  17. You don't want a ProX; you want a Cosmo Communicator, and they're available now and have been discussed here, too!
  18. Around here they either dump oversize items somewhere (in a plastic trash bag if it's raining and they're in the mood) or tie it to the outside of the box with rubber bands. 😮 I'm not sure they're technically supposed to do that, but c'est LA vie......
  19. Amazon is the most evil merchant on the planet. On top of that, buying through any reseller will take money away from the people who did all the work on this, whom we'd all really like to have the resources to continue making non-stupid phones, since no one else does anymore. Buy direct from the people who made this possible so they're not splitting the profits with others.
  20. Get a refund is not an option. I may order a second one, depending on the size of my Christmas bonus this year. I desperately wish to own this device, and for F(x)tec to succeed, and people buying units is how that occurs. EDIT: I also recently learned that my Droid 4 will work for another year, so all is well for now!
  21. That is about as pessimistic as it comes.
