Well, it was as clear as now that it wouldn't happen: We just don't know. It could have been a possibility that their expectations would have worked out since I don't think that they would intentionally lie to us. Were the expectations high? Of course. And they are again. But we often have big expectations for stuff that are usually out of our hands.

As far as I know, they changed the site once in july/august and then in november (with the current information). It was wrong all the time but they always expected shipping to happen in the next four weeks. That's at least what they told us. If they were smart, they'd have deactivated it completely and offered a newsletter with information when it's out.

I think, and this has been said before, that we get to the edge of technology where the chip doesn't age that fast anymore. The processor of a Motorola Droid 1 was old when it came out and some of us still used it 5+ years. An 835 will be usable maybe even in a decade. And having enough ram and a long-lasting keyboard, I'm sure I'll use this device for many years. The only point why I prefer better chips nowadays is for use in emulators and desktop systems, but you wouldn't call that normal usecase. Equally, an i7 (0)700 wouldn't handle games and emulators anymore, but is very good f

So, I've looked into the keychar files that Eske provided. Thanks again! We have a "ç" with ALT+c (which is interesting since I thought that's only used in catalan spain). Some accents are typed with [vocal] + ALT which seems strange to me. But as they wish... FN+[key] being used for many different characters seems very odd to me. I'd probably change that to ALT or SHIFT. Also, I think to know the reason for the non-sticky shift key. It could be the keypad type not being "ALPHA". They used "FULL", which has a different behavior. I don't know though what happens to "FN" if that's chang

That's one way to clean your device. Cleaning computer keyboards in the dishwasher also works surprisingly well (removing the keycaps helps further) but you need to let it dry for a couple of days before reconnecting it. But maybe we should just stick it in the dryer or oven!

If it's not in Play Store, go here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/root-battery-charge-limit-t3557002/amp/ Could be that the device is not yet supported - if so, in the thread you also find a way to get it supported soon.

You could indeed dismantle the endangered parts in order to prevent water to get in. That's absolutely no problem with usb ports or aux sockets. The buttons would be more difficult since you'd need a very thin layer around the contacts. As a manufacturer I'd seal the boards instead of trying too hard to get the phone waterproof. That way, damage should be prevented in most cases. I hope that this was just a really bad coincidence (snow) and that we won't hear about dead phones due to water soon again...

What you could try is to move the kcm/kl files (or just rename the folder and create a second one) so the folder would be empty. I could imagine that some languages are defined internally and every additional language file would be read out of the folder. I know a couple of programs and games that have done it this way, but I won't know for certain until I get my Pro1.

That's a lot of confidence. I suggest ordering it when all preorders are shipped. If they manage to do it by January, that's great. If they won't, which is probably according their past, you won't need to be angry or sad about it. You just order it when they are ready.

I think, it all makes sense. So far, we are supposed to select specific keyboard layouts, even if we live in another country. I'd guess that they have finished 5-6 keyboard layouts for the major language settings and the other ones are untouched. Normally, you let those empty, but maybe those other language files do tell the system which layout to use (just a guess since I can't look into the files). In my view, every ~15kB file is a full language and the rest is uncompleted. Those 8kB are maybe half completed (or irrelevant stuff like gamepad commands were deleted - maybe community

Are there no other files in /system/usr/keylayout/ and /system/usr/keychars/ ? If there are, it would be great if you could post them.

I'll look into this on weekend and how it was done on the Motorolas.

Different question... I read somewhere that the Pro1 will have changeable usb ports (like the Motorola G3 has). Is that the case? Because if it is, you could build your own magnetic charger internally. It takes some effort but would theoretically be "forever". Of course, I would only risk this with an separate pcb since a couple of attempts would definitely fail. If the Pro 1 takes much longer (I'm rooting for you, I'm sure you can offer us 1-2 more delays!), then I'll probably try it with my second Moto G3 with a display fault.

I use "Battery Charge Limit" which does exactly what you wrote - limit the maximum charge to the percentage you set. That's not quite adaptive charging though.

Does the phone launcher (ẃith its shortcuts) or the Button Mapper allow to change all Android functions with buttons? Like wifi, rotation, flashlight or hotspot? It should be possible, but I wonder if it's implemented.

For me it already helped putting the phone on a heater after it got wet. I had a non waterproof phone falling in water. It even was salt water, since some kid took it on the beach and threw it into the water. Dry it as much as you can with a towel (instinctive), then remove/disconnect the battery. Water isn't a big problem without energy. Then put it on the heater (don't use a hairblower since you could blow water further into the device) and dry it out more. Finally you put it in rice over night. Heating it in a closed container with rice makes the air even dryer. However I a

Thanks Eske! I don't have my Pro1 yet, so I can't tell you where the files are exactly located. But when you find them (I think they ended with ".kcm", but I'm too lazy to check that), they are pretty easy to understand. Especially with the links Eske provided (which I didn't know at the time I manipulated the files). You'll also find possible locations of the files with the link, but you probably will need a root explorer which can display system files.

I use the app "Battery charge limit" from XDA, which allows you to limit the battery percentage. I usually set it to 85% except if I'm going for holidays or so. I think it could already work with the Pro1, but maybe we need to wait (and ask) for the support. According to the magnetic chargers: I use a couple of mobile devices for work and have not yet found a reliable charger that does also charge quickly. And I'm not even talking about quickcharge or data transfer. They all are flimsy, have a stupid LED (and some further electronics to prevent burning them out) or break after

I imagined you would do both - press (slightly) down with your thumb and hold the back (which lifts it) to prevent the loud "clack" which would draw unneeded attention. Is that not a realistic usecase? By the way thanks a lot (I have read your posts regarding this topic before, but this is still very helpful).

Apart from the number of participants being way too low, I could imagine that many people having gotten their phone wouldn't check he forum. Imagine if 100 people in this forum got the phone but only 15 still check the forum. The conclusion would be all over the place and there's no way for us of getting these people to this forum.

@ps555 Devices are getting shipped directly from China currently, so we won't get informed about batches anymore. Looking into the "post here if you..." thread, it seems that people are continuously getting devices. Erik mentioned 3/10th devices getting shipped soon. He also wrote earlier that 1/10th-1/20th is produced every week, although that estimate didn't seem to be correct. According to these ("official") numbers and posted photos, my optimistic guess is that all orders could be shipped by the end of february. However, resellers will probably get their devices sooner than

I think, "awful" is a very harsh word for some slight criticism. The keyboard shifting was known and a few people complain(ed) about it. But you will sute get used to it after a short while. And non-sticky keys (i.e. shift), curved screen and similar things are a shame but there will be workarounds by either FxTec or the community. If you are unhappy, just sell it. It will find a new owner in a short while. But there's not really a re<son to open a new thread for it. By the way, Cosmo Communicator is a very different phone. I really hope you looked into it before order

I'd guess many people who actually got their device won't be checking the forum as often as we do. But I don't think much more than 300 (of 1000 in total) devices have been shipped yet, although that's a complete guess. And before you ask: Order number does not equal actual orders. It seems that the order numbers adds one every time somebody put a Pro1 in their cart. We don't know exact numbers, but 1000-3000 devices are expected to have been ordered (and paid) by now.

I'm honestly sorry to attack you personally, since you didn't take these decisions. But what you are saying is simply wrong. The support answers very fast, which is exceptional. However, since they aren't provided with any information, the "official helpdesk" is equally useless as the conspiracy theories in the forum. The support only tries to gain some time. We even have a separated thread with official information (from Chen or you). Nobody gets their devices on Christmas, but it isn't worth a post? And don't tell me about the e-mail, which repeated what we hear every month.

Some resellers and FxTec (Eric) affirmed that these phones were not regularly preordered, but they sent them a (small) batch anyways to allow christmas shipping for the resellers. It's a market decision to ship to resellers first in order to earn some more money and reputation. But apart from these wrong timelines they still follow (we've reached 3/10 of preorders and again they talk about shipping by end of january), this is a decision against the entire community which worked hard to make this happen.
