F(x)tec Pro1 is very soon becoming to a reality so let's take a look of those rejected/concept QWERTY sliders that you were dreaming about in the past.

1. Nokia N950

N950 actually became to a reality but not as a consumer product which the reason it hurts so much. It would have been great successor for the mighty N900

2. Motorola Droid 5

Droid 5 was in development during 2013 but it was abandoned before public release. Probably it would have had the same specs than the other Droid series phones on that year (Mini, Ultra and Max).

3. Nokia "Lauta"

Another Nokia QWERTY slider that was supposed to be released with MeeGo. Reportedly, it was planned to be released with Nokia N9 but that never happened.

4. HTC Prime

HTC unveiled Prime in 2011 but rejected the actual release. It would have been great QWERTY slider with Windows Phone 7.

5. Nokia "Soiro"

[/spoiler]

What? Third QWERTY slider from Nokia which was never released! This device was revealed just recently and we do not know very much about it. It was another abandoned MeeGo device.

6. Nexus P3

This was just a fan made concept but I really like the idea combining Nexus 5 and QWERTY keyboard.

7. Samsung Galaxy QWERTY

This is another fan made concept of Samsung Galaxy QWERTY device. I don't know if Samsung has ever considered this but I have seen several different versions of this.

8. BlackBerry Droid

After BlackBerry released the Priv, there was little but buzz about landscape QWERTY slider. Even thought it was a fan made rendering I was really excited about it.

Let my know your thoughts about these and feel free to post other QWERTY slider projects!

I had hoped that BlackBerry would one day make a landscape slider, but it was not meant to be...

I really hated the lucky few who got their hands on an N950. Hot damn what a gorgeous piece of machinery that was. I'm positive Nokia's mobile division would have survived The Treason if they had produced it. Heck, if HMD would decide to go ahead and update the internals and leave the dimensions as-is, I would buy it in a heartbeat!

As for my personal favorite out-there fan concept: the Nokia Envelop!

Now that is a nice phone 😄

The LED panel a bad idea but if that was colour eink .....

Back when the guy made this concept, e-ink was way too niche to even consider, let alone colored. Nowadays, for that kind of screen it would work wonders yeah...

Though this looks awfully slick, it would be hard to use with keys all the way down in the corners - just saying. 😜

Don't forgot the Livermorium Moto-Mod keyboard.   Only a few actually made it to customers before project cancelled....

...livermorium = fxtec...same company. I still hope, that Fx1 will be really fully released and delivered to customers ... and will be NOT cancelled as motomod keyboard !

BTW...hello Craig 🙂

They are separately registered I think, but same people yeah. At least they handled the failure very well, they refunded and compensated despite no obligations to it. And the problems that they had with modomod are much less of a risk this time around :).

Liangchen Chen is the man behind both projects, I do not know if there are other people in (or behind) FxTec that was associated with the Moto Mod Keyboard.

What if Apple had released a QWERTY slider?

Contradiction in terms here: aPple are all about design over function, a keyboard is about function over design.

I mean who with their mind on function over design would make a system with one key and add functions for single short, single long, double short and triple short clicks, if they cared at all about an intuitive user interface?

Users of aPple devices should be glad not to be required to Morse things in with their holy "one key is all that is needed" approach....

Well it is not like they think it is true, the motto is more: "We will replace keys with software keys, which are worse, but it is great marketing claim, that one button is all that is needed"
