If it breaks, you will notice similar problem depending on the part where ribbon breaks - it will lead to either touch-related problem or screen-related problem. Especially the bottom part of the display should be fixed well to eliminate similar problems what some of us experienced with touch screen issue... that is the most sensitive part of the whole display because here comes a wide ribbon cable from glass edge to the back of display which contains all the raw wires of display and touch connections. Noob 158
I dropped mine and cracked the screen a couple of months ago. 😭 At first it was just the glass that was broken and the screen was fully functional (touch and display). Unfortunately, now the bottom fifth of the screen flickers on and off but is mostly off. Fxtec support sent me a link to an AliExpress seller, but my first experience with AliExpress has been poor (delivery in limbo). Does anyone know of sellers on eBay? Also, will I still need to downgrade from LOS 18.1 to stock to fix the edges problem?
Rob. S. 1,661
I know of no other source than Aliexpress... That said, I haven't heard of any of those screen orders having gone wrong. I bought two screens myself from https://aliexpress.com/item/32956500815.html and they arrived as expected.

It may varies on the country you reside in but for me, standard packages sent through local postal service are slow and less trustworthy (also they collect an additional fee of TAX/VAT "handling" even if it was pre-payed). However, "Aliexpress Standard Shipping" comes in a very different way where one of the independent couriers will deliver the package and they are also faster. Moreover, they deliver them without additional fees. So, these are mostly local specialties but basically Aliexpress tries to provide a good service. Also, I have ordered some spare screens from Aliexpress which are worked, however, be prepared they usually have some (smaller or larger) black spots at one or more corners. It does not really affect usability of Pro1 (I am also using such a display now) but it worth to mention. Also, when you replace your screen, ensure to use a proper glue (like T-8000) and especially take attention on gluing bottom part of the screen well (where a wide ribbon cable enters from edge to its back) to avoid later touch or screen-related problems because of breaking that ribbon cable (it may not really like moving, so changing how ribbon cable is actually bent).

It seemed to use some courier specific to AliExpress through China, then Singapore Post, then Australia Post. According to their tracking it's been delivered but it never made it to me and I can't get any info from the tracking other than "AU delivered". First time I've ordered through AliExpress and not a great experience (on top of just trying to use their horribly crap website, what is it with Chinese eCommerce sites and god-awful UX?) Though I may just have to bite the bullet and try another order; my broken screen is deteriorating further to the point where the screen now immediately goes spotty and the image fades to black on wake *unless* I press hard on a specific point on the screen where the crack originated. Interestingly, Fxtec support suggested this seller, which is one of two that explicitly states Fxtec instead of Elephone U Pro. It's far more expensive, though I wonder if it won't have the edge sensitivity issue that the other screens have. Of course, my other option is to hold out for my Pro1X to arrive. 😄 On 2/22/2022 at 11:33 PM, VaZso said: Also, when you replace your screen, ensure to use a proper glue (like T-8000) and especially take attention on gluing bottom part of the screen well (where a wide ribbon cable enters from edge to its back) to avoid later touch or screen-related problems because of breaking that ribbon cable (it may not really like moving, so changing how ribbon cable is actually bent). Problems may happen but you may contact their customer support regarding a specific problem. However, it is easier if you live in another country than the package was delivered in but also a different city may help to prove your truth. Once a seller has provided a tracking number for me what belonged to another person locally in the same country and also same city, around 3 kilometres away from me... that was a bit harder to prove that was not me... Anyway, I have also ran into a mistake of "Aliexpress Combined Shipping" which basically puts together several "Aliexpress Standard Shipping" orders and pass them together in one big envelope.... ...but one of my orders should has been there was missing and I had an extra package should has been delivered to another country (it was a much cheaper item and also something I can not use for anything). I could prove I have something I should not have and finally they have accepted the issue (also they told in this case Aliexpress refunds the amount and not the seller). So it is not always an easy task and they will not do it automatically without contacting them...
Noob 158
I took the plunge and ordered a couple of screens from a seller, while also emailing Fxtec support about purchasing a complete display as a replacement. The replacements arrived quicker than a response from Fxtec support. 😮 I didn't actually think it would arrive so quickly so I didn't order the glue in time. So either I just replace the screen without the glue this weekend, or wait another few days.
EskeRahn 5,460
When opening and mounting a new display, consider to also add a slight diffuser for the LED. @SCΛRECROW reported good result with simple mate tape here

Anyway, last time I wanted to do it better and it last more than my original screen but I currently have an insensitive part again of the very same position like my original screen had... I wanted to demonstrate one of my friends the glue is still holding well which is basically true, but I have found I can move the problematic (lower-right) edge a bit by applying force, so still it was not properly glued or it has simply released gluing... since COVID, I use some alcoholised tissue time to time for cleaning my phone and it may be a solvent for the gluing itself... (So it is basically hard to see it is moving slightly and it also needs pressure, but it is definitively moving...) However, I still say a proper gluing is mandatory but it is advised to use a rubberized soft-glue and try to apply an amount which holds well especially near the bottom edge of the display (in portrait orientation, opposite to the speaker and camera). Also, after applying replaced screen, hold it together well for a while for proper bonding.

Yeah I think the "hold it together part" was where I broke mine, I used a binder clip to clip it together to try to get the tape to work, I'll try a heavy book this time or something. I got some T-7000 this time round.

Looking at the phone closely, I now found that the casing bends backwards there. I suppose the usual glue (I've used T-7000) just isn't strong enough to resist the separating force applied by the bent casing. That said, I've never had any problems yet with touch-insensitive parts of the screen or something similar.

Mine does not look to be that detached... However, there are two ribbon cables coming from bottom, one wide which is the display and a narrow which is the touch signal. The connection of the ribbon cable and glass is a sensitive part but also ribbon cable can break but usually at places where it is bent wrongly. I would think the connection between this ribbon cable and "glass" what can be detached more easily causing touch-related problems.
Noob 158
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and shared experiences. I fitted my replacement screen on the weekend and my Pro1 is whole again! I ended up not using the glue strips provided with the screen and just used the B7000 glue all around, albeit a bit unevenly. Some came out the sides as I pushed down, though I'm not sure if I applied enough in the bottom corners (though so far it's holding well). The biggest hassle was peeling off the black sticker from the old screen and unfurling it on the new screen. The screen doees rattle on the let side a bit more now though, maybe I need to tighten some screws. Like others my screen didn't allow taps from the side edges (though upper and lower edges were fine). I reloaded stock to fix it as described in the previous thread, which fixed that problem. I also applied the Brotect screen protector and so far it looks good (adhering well to the sides/corners). Meanwhile, Fxtec still hasn't replied to my email asking about buying a replacement screen (complete assembly). 😞 Edited March 29, 2022 by Noob 1
Noob 158
Also as a side note, until I repaired my screen I made use scrcpy to mirror my screen on to my computer. It does need ADB debug mode enabled, so your screen does need to work well enough to do that if you haven't done so beforehand.
ToniCipriani 194
This lifting could be caused by not removing the old glue cleanly, causing the display not to sit properly into the frame. Also can be caused by not letting the adhesive cure properly. I've done it properly this time and actually spent time to scrape the frame clean of the old adhesive. In the frame, after you scrape the glue, there's actually a small pit for the screen to countersink into the frame for better adhesion. On 3/25/2022 at 7:51 AM, Rob. Noob 158
A quick update on the Brotect screen protector; it feels great to the touch but it started to lift from one of the bottom corners. 😞 I think it may be a little bit too long and was overhanging after I applied it, or maybe there was a tiny portion of the corner that didn't adhere. Now I need to buy some more screen protectors. Also, I find my Pro1 is now more loose, especially from the bottom left corner. When I tap the screen the whole assembly moves and taps into the keyboard assembly. I'm not sure if I need to tighten a screw, as the screws I unscrewed were higher up on the assembly. Anyone else had this problem?
Joakim 32
Fxtect support responded within like a week to my questions: Quote Apologies for the late reply as the Team is quite busy. We recommend this third party screen as it is compatibility and our official ones are out of stock. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001300088859.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.4b6b295d5hlQAY&algo_pvid=adde8213-b7ad-4115-927b-2c3dbecfba66&algo_expid=adde8213-b7ad-4115-927b-2c3dbecfba66-8&btsid=2100bddf16231558140824462e5bea&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_. But I had already bought the screen mentioned before. It actually arrived in a month, just yesterday. Seller did not include glue strips from which I did open a dispute, since that's something they advertised to be included. In typical fashion, seller did not even understand what the dispute was about. "We sent you a right screen". It's about a principle anyway even if the glue is crap. What glue do you recommend? And I do live in the Nordics where temperature differences are wild, so temperature resistance should be decent as well. EDIT: Here it seems that most phone repair accessories sell B-7000 glue. Not sure how good it is or what's the difference. It seems that Pattex Gel version is only sold in biggers jars here and other versions are liquid variant.
