  2. F(x)tec never had all the driver sources. And even if they did, they would not have been allowed to publish them. A prominent exception is the keyboard, which is the one hardware component they developed themselves. The rest of the hard- and software came from a Chinese OEM. The idea that f(x)tec ever wanted to make the Pro1/Pro1X "open" phones is a misconception introduced by some media and bloggers. F(x)tec never publicly corrected that misunderstanding, presumably as they hoped to profit from all that "Linux-phone" hype. In reality, the Pro1 was designed as a pretty standard, proprieta
  3. My first idea was to start with pro1x kernel 4.19, maybe the compiled proprietary blobs are the same or mostly the same as pro1. But I never found a 4.19 kernel built for msm8998... Maybe one of the guru of the company can help us with the driver sources? unless @EskeRahn is correct and the sources were part of the swindle, though.
  4. Last week
  5. Lineage-23.0-20251201-NIGHTLY-pro1x with November 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained.
  6. The base kernel source is of course available as per the GPL2. Also, e.g., the keyboard-driver source is available as part of LineageOS. However, much of the device drivers that make up basic mobile-phone functionality are not. The project of mainlining the Pro1 got stuck on such profane things like the touchscreen driver requiring some non-disclosed firmware magic to be usable in the first place. Device drivers not being open-sourced is pretty standard in the Android world, though. Nothing specific to the Pro1 here. 👎
  7. I think that for an OS like Lineage, which is supposed to be just Android-without-the-Google-bits, upgrading the major Kernel version will be next to impossible. The proprietary vendor blobs compiled for 4.4. will not load with 4.14 or later. That's just not how Linux works. Yes, there may be some other ms8998 devices out there using later Android kernels. So it may boot somehow. But what's the good of that if your LTE-modem, camera, and touchscreen no longer work?
  8. As I understood it one of the reasons for the Pro1X sort of 'reinventing the wheel' was that those that swindled FxTec where the ones with almost all the drawings and source code. I could be mistaken though.
  9. Hello all, As @elvissteinjr correctly stated, Pro1 needs a kernel patch to be supported in LOS 23. in the concrete case that the ebpf backport will not be available for the kernel 4.4, I googled for msm8998 devices and there are one or two shipped or updated with kernel 4.14. maybe trying to update the kernel to that version is the way to. Also thinking that some hardware is shared with pro1x that is shipped with 4.19 will make easier the compilation. Do we have the kernel sources for pro1?
  10. Thank you so much! But, this is the qfpkg_gui (graphical user interface) version. I'm looking for the qfpkg_cli (command line interface) version which seems to be unobtainium... Anyway, someone ought to publish this tool somewhere lest it disappears from the net.
  11. Earlier
  12. (Still no 23.0 for Pro1, so likely not going to happen, and as 22.2 is borked use 22.1 or earlier)
  13. Lineage-23.0-20251124-NIGHTLY-pro1x with November 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained.
  14. Lineage-23.0-20251117-NIGHTLY-pro1x with November 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained. Lol. Maybe I should just have one post and keep adding to the list, 😉
  15. For me the answer where mechanic, a case. I originally experimented with a classic protective case covering the bottom part, and that solved the fingerprint problems as you do not accidentally touch through a cut-out in the frame. I shortly after switched to a flip case opening like a Japanese book. We got an extremely long thread on cases where I posted multiple images years back. Also made a post on by own blog here. The links to where I bought the many different base-models are most likely all long dead though.
  16. Hello, sorry. So, a Pro1x with Android 11. Burkhard
  17. Hello Is there a way to disable the fingerprint scanner limit? i have a Pro1x. I'm left-handed and constantly touch the sensor when carrying or taking the phone out of my pocket. Because of this, I have to restart my phone two or three times a day for the scanner to work again. I already use it for everything—unlocking the phone, opening apps, and more—but the limit is often exceeded. It's very annoying. I never experienced this with my Blackberry. Burkhard
  18. Lineage-23.0-20251110-NIGHTLY-pro1x with November 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained.
  19. Sorry for the late reply but I do have a copy if your still interested. This is the qfpkg_linux.zip, not sure if there were any others. qfpkg_linux.zip
  20. Lineage-23.0-20251103-NIGHTLY-pro1x with October 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained. A bit late this week (me, not the update) as my son is visiting from Colorado.
  21. Hi Everybody, I am sorry for the late response. I was to busy for almost 2 month and forgot to answer here. Today I updated to lineage-22.2-20251022-microG-NO-PI-PATCH, and that did remind me that I have an open promise here. On my Pro1 the new SIM card almost solved the battery drainage problem. The phone is still consuming a little bit more battery than it did before the update to LOS 22. That time I had to charge it every second day only. Now with the new SIM card the battery works for a full day again. That makes the Pro1 use-able for me.
  22. Not using it myself on the Pro1X. But most SFOS users (well, still quite few actually) are on discord. I send you an invite link via pm. Be reminded that whatever technically did not work on Android/Lineage with your Pro1X will also not work in SFOS. Under the hood, it is the same core OS, after all. There will be additional technical limitations with respect to Android, because not every function is available from SFOS userspace. E.g., as far as I know, VoLTE does not work with SFOS on Pro1/X, while it does in Lineage.
  23. Just a quick liveness check, community, if I may? I'm putting SFOS on my Pro1-X as a last ditch attempt to make it useable for something. I see the latest SFOS build is from 6 months ago, so I'm hoping it's still being curated. If not here, then where might I be looking for a live forum? Thanks in advance, all.
  24. Lineage-23.0-20251027-NIGHTLY-pro1x with October 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained.
  25. Lineage-23.0-20251020-NIGHTLY-pro1x with October 1st security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps16, and root was maintained.
  26. Ah thanks for the info! I optimistically tried 22.2 again (20251011), still not working VoLTE not supported, 😠 (expecting the 23 I thought this might be the last 22.2, so wanted to test before 23) So going back on 22.1 (20250405)- where VoLTE works ☺️
  27. Very optimistic. Android 16 comes with additional eBPF feature requirements to the kernel, which the 4.4 version the Pro1 is stuck on doesn't fulfill, but the Pro1X's 4.19 kernel version does. Or rather, those have been backported down to that version, but nobody has done this for 4.4 yet. See the LineageOS announcement for some details: https://lineageos.org/Changelog-30/ It may happen, but not within a few days if it does.
