  1. It is because A/B. See this link: https://source.android.com/devices/tech/ota/ab/ab_faqs#if-youre-installing-an-update-while-the-system-is-running,-isnt-that-slow Incremental OTAs are much faster, but don't work with addons. I would like to fix that at some point.

  2. Perhaps your PC is having issues with USB? Lineage supports ADB over network. I frequently use this instead of USB because it is super convenient. Enable developer settings (tap on build number 7 times), then go into developer settings and enable ADB over network. The adb address will be shown. On your PC, run "adb connect <address>".

  3. I am pleased to announce that the Pro1 has received official support in LineageOS 16.0. You can find the builds and installation instructions on the official LineageOS Downloads page. Please note that LineageOS does not include the proprietary Google apps (aka. "gapps", Play Store, etc.), nor a "su" binary. These are "extras" or "add-ons". You may use any appropriate gapps package for Android Pie. I personally recommend MindTheGapps which can be found here. LineageOS maintains an official su add-on and a couple other extras here. Note the Pro1 is arm64 and be sure

  4. For me, the interface is quite snappy. I went from LOS Test 15 to LOS Nightly and I would say there is no difference between both. What I have noticed (on Test versions and this Nightly as well) is that sometimes, the transition between home screen pages can stutter a little bit. I tried to find the cause via terminal (top command) but no luck.

  6. Your problem is Verizon, not the phone.

  7. The phone works perfectly fine on reasonable GSM carriers. Verizon is neither reasonable nor GSM. Your fix is to switch to another carrier. T-Mobile, AT&T, or any of their MVNOs work perfectly fine. I'm on PureTalk which is an AT&T MVNO. Paying $80/mo for four lines. Or, if you insist on being abused by Verizon, I'm sure someone would be happy to buy the phone from you.

  8. It is EXTREMELY slow to actually install the package. The mere download is perhaps two minutes, depending on net and servers. But the install takes well forever.... I will suggest to just take the notification that an update is available, and then download and install it manually - that takes a few minutes through the ADB sideload. Yes less elegant, but MUCH faster. For me the OTA of the V2 over V1 even failed to boot after I waited over an hour, so had to do it manually afterwards anyway, but that could be an initial issue, where it lacked the gapps... i'm not going to attempt an OTA a

  10. My phone is becoming closer and closer to being a completely useless brick on Verizon. 1. Verizon changes to SMS has disabled all text message sending unless I am on WiFi. (Even the workaround of marking a SMS urgent to turn it into MMS does not work.) 2. Verizon will no longer allow me to call forward the Pro1 line (but will allow me to forward other lines). This is particularly important due to no cell service at home and #3 below. 3. Call over WiFi will not work without being a Verizon Branded phone. 4. Voicemail indicator will not work. I am very tempted to drop th

  11. Yes, an entry in the settings app to toggle sticky fn. Because surely some users will want it and other users will not. I'll try to think of a way. But I do not know of any other Pro1 group except on telegram. I do sympathize with you, though. I really don't like giving my phone number for internet chat. It is just that with all other modern privacy and security concerns, it seems a small thing in comparison.

  12. First, thank you for volunteering to contribute. I've been working my figurative butt off for months and I'm getting tired, to be honest. Which is why Nolen is doing Lineage 17.1. More inline... Check the keyboard files. This is probably in the KCM file, if it can be changed at all. Notice the keyboard is declared type ALPHA. If you declare it type FULL, I believe both autocapitalization and the symbol popup will go away. Certainly. And add a device specific setting to toggle sticky fn, I assume. Build it in a Line

  13. Indeed, what @tdm and @Tsunero said. I ended up leaving Verizon and going to AT&T. Hope you have such an option.

  14. Pinephone is going to be an interesting piece of hardware / software solution especially if they can find a proper solution for an attached keyboard, but it is not comparable to Pro1. Pro1 has a much better hardware in every aspects, higher display resolution, much better CPU, much higher RAM, much better cameras, two SIM slots, etc - and even an own keyboard. On the other hand, Pinephone is cheap and interesting, but its internals are also much simpler and it is still a work in progress. I have both anyway. Also, I follow both projects as these are special parts of the world

  15. I had this issue with a particular cable today that works on another phone. I used a Nintendo switch controller charge cable instead and it was fine. One difference is the other cable isn't flush when connected the Nintendo one is so maybe connector length related.

  16. Is there a particular reason for that? Moving Gapps and other addons? My Nexus 6 with no Gapps usually performs an LineageOS OTA update in 2-3 minutes.

  17. Yes it is the complete factory package with the modem and everything else, just as you would get from the OTA.

  18. Does this contain updated (modem) firmware partitions? I very early on switched from stock to Lineage so I didn`t get any OTAs for stock. I assume they did contain some updates to the firmware for modem, bluetooth etc? So does it make sense to flash this to update those partitions? Also see

  19. Just redo the test22 install, following the instructions as if it were the first time. That is, flash the boot image, boot into recovery, flash test22, reboot recovery, flash gapps, reboot. If you booted into Android without gapps, various Google apps get unhappy and may need to be removed and reinstalled (like hangouts, etc.) But your data should still be there.

  20. Yes, you are correct. I did try doing it as if it were one of tdm's updates and got roundly put in my place when I tried to sideload it with the Test 22 recovery 😄 . SO, yes, booted into bootloader and used fastboot to flash the boot image to the active partition, rebooted to recovery and then all the adb sideloading went well! I'm up and running. Thanks!

  21. @Hook you need to reboot to bootloader and install the official boot.img to the active boot partition first before booting to recovery and sideloading.

  24. Anyone else notice that when F(x)Tec posts something to Instagram or Twitter showing the Pro1 taking a photo, the app that's shown is always some kind of GCam port, never the Snapdragon app? I wonder what port the F(x)Tec social media team uses. So far my queries to the social media accounts have gone unanswered...

  25. Hi, so now that I can finally start using the phone, the USB connector has given out on me. I tried two different USB cables that both work on my previous phone and the best I get is that the battery is being charged. Neither in the boot menu (via fastboot), nor in recovery mode nor in 'normal' mode does the phone react to being connected to the USB cable, except sometimes as said above it starts charging but usually just the LED light on the top right comes on without the battery charging. My computer doesn't show device in any of those cases, not even a failed USB connection.

  26. Its not that. It's more the refresh of the rendering is low fps or frames are skipped sometimes. I just checked my Blackberry Keyone and that is a lot smoother in comparison in general transitions and effects.
