Good to hear in the other topic that finally also US customers are going to receive their phones soon.

I have contacted support yesterday and had some mail conversation. Today they have shared some valuable information with me and I have asked if I am allowed to share their reply with you. As now I have permission to share it, here is what support wrote:

Maybe - on hardware, they may be called workarounds. 🙂 Like working with an SPI sensor which does not release MISO line when CS pin goes high (although datasheet says it does) but has another operation mode when it releases it. So there is a workaround possibility to switch operational modes before and after using that sensor. Another case, same (big) manufacturer, another SPI device, same problem but written in data sheet (in a separate place at interface documentation), however, without any possible workarounds at all. ...had to redesign the circuit and it went to I2C. ...anyway,

Right now they have / had some troubles that is why there are complains in forum and maybe they are also currently working on a solution or just as nervous as others (or even more) because delay affects general availability and inconvenience is also not good. ...but it does not mean that generally they are in trouble, just that these are harder days for them also. Maybe you also know the feeling when something seems to be run by its own and you are being happy that things finally started working (I mean production and shipping progress) - they are also curious what experience people

They are definitively more than two guys but yes, they were able to manage the project from scratch. There are really much technical knowledge had to be there to design a phone (including schematics, PCB, antenna system, mechanical parts, outfit design and tune all of them together - the process is much more longer). They also had to prepare manufacturing documentation, organize manufacturing process, had to check how it is going, etc. Prior to that, they had to do tests, apply for certification (and design the whole thing including PCB and antenna system to pass these tests), etc... ..

Ouch. That case the DHCP pool table of your router can be a bit long if you reboot your phone very often. 🙂 However, that solution of generating MAC address is really crazy.

The weather is perfect - inside. 😄 Outside it is -3 Celsius now (evening here).

Currently it is -1 degree Celsius here (I mean outside).

I have contacted support two times - the first time after all assignment emails were went out of batch 1 and the second time was today. I have also received some of the above "template information", but I had my eyes rolling on a similar sentence i quoted above. As having an order of QWERTZ device which they said being only a minority and speaking about compensation of US batch where none of the QWERTZ devices were sold to is a complete nonsense. (Not speaking about first batch had only a few devices towards EU and US but the package being returned from the USA contains a lot of phone

Just like in STM32. However, there may be an unique identifier of the device itself, that is not uncommon (this is up to the manufacturer and not related to anything else). MAC is another thing as it is universally unique among manufacturers, so it is not as simple (see my comment above).
-
I don't know how does it working here but for the LAN interface of STM32, I have to provide an appropriate MAC address (there are no own address built-in). I am currently using a pre-written EEPROM for this purpose (because I only need a few addresses) and another one generated in appropriate range as a fallback (if EEPROM was not soldered to board). Basically, these addresses are sold by ranges and, in theory, they have to be unique. So one option to buy an own range and use that for this purpose (expensive), other option is to buy it from someone (like I did with that EEPROM) and a

Also the location should be important - like being in EU / USA / other part of the globe.

I would not happy to see many of us requesting refund because they have definitively did something valuable and they definitively need time to resolve issues. If most of us go for refund it will affect their stability and rather than that, I would like their success. I think it is not easy to get out of this situation for them - it seems appropriate quality phones were much less than their expectation. If they are able to resolve issues, many of the phones could be shipped if they are really only have this screen issue... but saying to everyone they could send only say 100 devices as 2n
-
I think a similar issue has affected also the first batch (if I read well), but they thought they have successfully resolved the problem or at least made the situation much better. Maybe the same issue appeared again or maybe another one.

I don't want to mention Moto Mod, but I had chance for Pro1 to arrive in the first batch (they thought the majority of IGG preorders could be fulfilled). Then had a high chance of being in 2nd batch as it should have all IGG backers included. Then I may have a higher chance to arrive it before Christmas... then I will have a much higher chance to arrive this year... then... If they can ship not later than 17th from EU (not outside of EU but from UK for example) then I have a high chance for it to arrive. Later than 17th I have less chance by every day down to zero. They wrote they

I am in the EU. Has that mail only arrived for those who are not in 2nd batch? I doubt. I hope it does not mean they could not manufacture enough phones to even handle most of IGG backers as they told us they are the minority. Maybe light leaking problem was affected the majority of phones but it was also not mentioned.
-
You are right, but having an order number of the #116XX range and paying two minutes after receiving payment request and also being an IGG backer but not receiving stock assignment mail is a bit strange. Maybe it is related to the QWERTZ order but earlier they also said QWERTZ orders may also arrive earlier because of the relatively low amount. If all assignment mails have been sent out by this time, then it means I am not even in the second batch like also some others who wrote about also being IGG backers and QWERTZ orders. Also if the mentioned light leakage problem is affected
-
For me, I still not have assignment e-mail received being an IGG backer with QWERTZ order. I am getting really disappointed right now.
-
Yes, it seems to be. I have IGG coupon but still not received e-mail, so I think there are several e-mails still not went out. (Also there were messages here with IGG coupons without e-mails, so they also should receive their e-mails and maybe also others without IGG coupon may receive it.) So, we may see it in the coming few days I think.
-
...with or without IGG coupon?
-
Yes, buy a screen protector made for Elephone U Pro.
-
I feel the same. If I would feel a real use case for me, I would buy both (the same like I have also pre-ordered PinePhone). ...and as of F(x)tec, if their quality is the same what I saw and it remains high quality, I will buy further phones from them when they have successor of this form factor.
-
I saw Cosmo Communicator earlier and I would have been bought (I mean pre-order) it if the idea of Pro1 would not existed... ...but I find Pro1 much more suitable for me (as a nearly perfect device). I saw earlier advertisements of Cosmo and found it a bit too large - it is an interesting project anyway, but it seems to be somewhere between a phone and a laptop and its use case for me is missing. Maybe if I would travel a lot by plane or other transports then it may be relatively convenient but I think it is also true of Pro1 especially if a power bank is nearby. Another interestin

No, I have just searched a bit and found this photo because I didn't really know how does this light bleed looks like. Theoretically, the curved part of the screen is the source of this problem if I understood well. So, if that is true, then I also think the bottom part of the screen should not have much bleeding. Also, I saw somewhere the light bleed in Pro1 is practically appears at the lower right corner if you hold it vertically where the keyboard can be opened, but I have not found too much information about it and not even a photo of this problem on Pro1 prototypes.
