  1. Yep, I know definitely a few people who are waiting to see mine before handing their cash away :D. With how distinct the phone looks when the keyboard is open they'll get quite a bit of free advertising once it's out in the wild.
  2. I guess the SD835 is more of a last-years-flagship SoC but I doubt we will have complaints about performance. Myself I've been just happy with 200eur phones and a keyboard is litteraly the only thing that could make me spend 3x that amount, and I think many people think alike. Most people I am close with that have recent phones atall have one from the cheaper end with an SD6xx (625, 660), which seems perfectly adequate today. Maybe if they get really popular economy of scale will allow even faster SoCs while retaining the same price point, although I can't imagine the keyboard and slider mecha
  3. True that, I'm 90% sure that ConnectBot and JuiceSSH do though.
  4. Since there is no xterm in android I think you'd have to depend on either setting up something globally with the android/fxtec provided software, or depend on the shell; I use zsh myself and the bindkey command can be used to assign key combinations to do things, I'm sure the more common bash has a way also.
  5. Android already supports these things for BlueTooth and USB-OTG keyboards, so it should work without problems :).
  6. As far as I understand the pro1 supports most of the bands that T-Mobile uses so it should work just fine I think, but keep in mind I am not an expert so I hope smarter people than I can elaborate on this here. The first units should be shipped around the middle of September to people who have pre-ordered, and I guess shortly after that it will be for sale directly too. The fastest way to get one is probably to pre-order but I am sure they will also be sold normally soon enough. Welcome to the place of pilgrimage for all the people who need a qwerty phone in their life :).
  7. I personally like connectbot, it can work for both ssh and also local terminal on the phone. Has enough settings to make it behave pretty much any way you could want. Also the source is quite easy to compile and modify. When I first used it the UI had some annoying bugs on my phone which I fixed, they took the pull requests and they soon where also in the play store version :).
  8. Exactly how I felt, this article may need a followup soon: "qwerty rises from the grave to take the world by storm" :D.
  9. I think the timing for that right now is excellent. As said in that interview people wanted iphones and galaxy phones back then, but now those are boring and everyone has one.
  10. Someone else from the forum pointed me to this rather captivating intverview with Doug Kaufman about the decline of qwerty phones, thought it was worth a share on the forums :). It ends on "If you could have a Galaxy S4 with a QWERTY, I think people would buy that.", and I guess we're about to find out if people would buy an S9 with a keyboard :). https://www.theverge.com/2013/11/15/5104704/i-come-not-to-praise-qwerty-but-to-bury-it
  11. Also note that even though I ceased getting newsletters, I did receive the payment request.
  12. The more things become known the better this phone looks! :)
  13. I accidentally unsubscribed and both that re-subscribe link from erik and the subscribe button in the newsletter link (https://fxtec.us19.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=adae1356e734fcdec77e6255f&id=4b844f98a0) failed to get me back on the list somehow.
  14. Mine shows the same, I believe it means success! :)
  15. It seems to be going at least approximately sequentially per order number.
  16. Payment requests should come in 48hrs from when the last newsletter was posted 10:20 BST 2019-07-31 (so before the same time 2019-08-02). See the newsletter here: https://us19.campaign-archive.com/?u=adae1356e734fcdec77e6255f&id=4e7ad23684

  18. I suspect the act of using a keyboard phone in 2019 has torn the space-time fabric and you are now no longer bound by the conventional left-to-right order of events.
  19. Well since the discord room is not an official channel, I would not expect the team to check this for feedback (and rather if something interesting is said it to be posted to the forum by whoever decides it is important enough). It's kinda fun to have a more direct way to have a talk with likeminded people from the forum, especially concerning off-topic matters. If we can have it clear to people that official / important things belong in the forum instead, the status is still that it'd just be nice for facebook/twitter posts and maybe newsletter things if important are also duplicated in th
  20. Since a bunch of us are there already, if the fxtec team approves of this room existing, may be worth pinning a notice atop the forum.
  21. Aha yeah, possibly it just went into hiding, I did not try clearing cookies etc. Thanks for the missing newsletter! :)
  22. So I have figured out how to sign up again I think :). I think due to browser issues the popup offering to sign up for the mailing list did not show on my pc, or I am simply blind. Anything much I missed in the last newsletter?
  23. I had been thinking before about setting up an unofficial IRC room in freenode! The poll however is a yet better idea, for me Telegram would be equally good for example :).
  24. I would hope they just set up a bug-tracking system for the testers, such as bugzilla or similar.
