  1. It wasn't too bad from my experience. I got one reply just now asking if I was sure since devices are now shipping, and: "The second batch due to arrive by the end of this month will include your order." (I've given up trying to decipher such statements from FXtec.) But once I confirmed, they processed the refund straight away.
  2. This seems ... worrying. To me it comes down to whether or not I trust FXtec. To clarify: it seems proven that Adups is on the Pro1, from the response (side note: hey looks like FXtec are watching the forums!) But I personally don't know the software. I don't know the state of the OTA provider software ecosystem. I don't know (but I guess I could find out) if the Pro1 has been certified. All I know is that Adups is on there, and the rest I will have to research.
  3. I agree with you on this. Yes, it feels like the devices are "nearly here". But it's felt like that for a long time, and I get the impression that FXtec's intention is to foster this feeling: "hold on, they're nearly here!" But actually behind the scenes they're scrambling and they don't really have any idea when devices en masse will be ready. They have a dream that it'll be Christmas, but they can't be sure of that.   5. This has been the whole problem with their terrible communication. Delays are understandable but just tell us! The full paragraph I got from support read: "We are currently still shipping our earlier Pro1 pre-orders. We know this was delayed longer than it should have been, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Realistically, your tracking details will be sent to you anytime before the 20th of December, as we plan to have 1-day shipping before Christmas, so we will have all pre-orders complete in time for the Christmas holidays."   7. That's basically what many people on here have been saying for months. And how I feel. I could've had six months of use out of a new phone by now if I hadn't been hanging on for the Pro1. And now the latest official word is I'll be lucky to get it before Christmas. I'm swinging back to feeling pretty close to cancelling.
  8. In case there are others like me, wondering. I contacted support and they've apologised for further delays and say that I'll receive the tracking number for my second-batch phone "anytime before the 20th of December". 🙄

  11. Thanks. I'm not bothered about the missing pixels, I just think a rounded rectangle display on a rectangular phone looks weird. I'm sure I'll get used to it!
  12. I've seen a few photos now since there are some Pro1s in the wild, and the corners of the display image strike me every time. Personally I find it quite annoying. Is there an option to disable the rounding on the corners of the display? Or is it in hardware?
  13. Second batch was possibly going to be leaving China this week. Which would hopefully mean stock allocation next week, delivery within three weeks after that. Maybe.

  15. This is good news, and I'm glad to hear you're still working on it. Personally, I would like a slip case, yes. I've been worried about the case etc, since it will be impossible to source anything specifically for the Pro1 in the short term. I feel better about it having seen the excellent updates from @EskeRahn and the cases he has tested.
  16. I'm very glad to see these videos, because I'm excited for the device, to get my own, and for it to sell well. But as a general point, is anyone else as puzzled as me why 'unboxing' videos are as popular as they are on youtube? Why is there such a buzz for what is surely the least interesting part of getting a new device? Show me it working! Show me it from all angles! But only show me the plastic wrapping or peeling off stickers if you're trying to get me to sleep...

  19. I'm right there with you. My seasoned Xperia work phone developed battery and touch screen faults. The replacement they've given me is an iPhone. 😐 I mean I recognise that the hardware is pretty decent. It has some slickness and nice touches, but a lot of the time it's so annoying I want to throw it. Basically it works fine, so long as you only want to do what Apple want you to do, and in the way they want you to do it. There are so many things I've taken for granted in Android that iOS just doesn't let you do. It feels like "my first smartphone" more than anything else.
  20. I would not accuse FXtec of unprofessionalism on their aims, nor what (I hope) they're achieving with the Pro1. But I do think the word applies to the communications which have been vague, incomplete, and some might say dishonest in parts.

  22. A new week begins. And we're officially past the middle of November now. Will the second batch be shipping from China this week, I wonder? @Erik is that still on track?
