  1. Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2020 20:34:55 +1000 From: FX Technology Limited <info@fxtec.com> Subject: Pro1 manufacturing update Hello! We hope you are well and keeping safe. The last few months have been a bit of a challenge for us all but we are pushing through! Thank you so much for your continued patience and support, we really do appreciate it. Whilst we have experienced some minor delays to the manufacturing and shipping of Pro1’s, the factory has been working as best they can to keep up with demand. We will have another batch of Pro1’s ready to ship early Septemb
  2. Would anybody know when did F(x)tec stop taking pre-orders? I suspect the answer is not unanimous. EDIT: Not unanimous sounds double negative but it isn't. Collins dictionary says the word comes from Latin ūnanimus and from 'ūnus' (one) and 'animus' (mind).
  3. The F(x)tec order page says "Shipping worldwide in 10-12 weeks". Has there ever been any other shipping estimate there?
  4. When did you order and pay your phone?
  5. Did Fxtec delay the delivery to Japan in order to be more fair towards pre-orders? Links Inernational via Google Translator. Welte.jp says: [Important Note]: This product is a pre-ordered product before completion by an overseas venture company. Delivery, delivery and quality are not guaranteed or guaranteed. There is a risk of significant delays, poor quality, non-delivery and non-refunds. Cancellation fee of 40% will be charged. Should the manufacturer go bankrupt, no compensation or refund will be given. k-tai.watch updated article and the previous article..
  6. I presume they don't want to send a new update until the next batch is out and allocated.
  7. Was the price of 786 and then some a Freudian slip from an Intel fanboy?
  8. When did pre-orders became just orders? Was it when the deliveries started? Fxtec main site still has a button for creating a pre-order.
  9. When did you order your Pro1 and pay for it?
  10. > at work in thick concrete or steel buildings, where signal is weak and while my coworkers phones are still connected @Raafu1, could you check what the raw dBm figures are when this occurs? For 4G/LTE poor field is -111 .. 119 dBm and the dead zone is -120 dBm or below. One would expect there to be some difference in raw dBm reading between Pro1 and the connected phones.
  11. When developing N900 at Nokia we had a special koops handler which saved the crashing kernel oops to a log area in NAND memory. The saved dumps were then automatically reported on the next reboot. It collected valuable statistics about the frequency and stacks frames of kernel crashes. Without the NAND based logger the devices would have had to be logged via serial console.
  12. Is Pro1's signal strength similar or weaker than on the other phones? This question was motivated by a user selling his phone because of weak 4G antenna and Pro1 being unusable indoors as a phone where other phones worked. There are many websites explaining how to check signal strength on an Android phone. This one is from 2010 but later articles have similar instructions. How To Measure Cell Signal Strength on Android Phones "If you want to check out just where you are at in raw numbers, you can check the status screen in Android's menu. Just pull up the menu, scroll down and s
  13. I am still using N900, although its browser is slow, unusable and won't do tls 1.2, worn battery, no USB transfers any more and unreliable charging that can break completely any time. My humble wish is to have Pro1 before my N900 dies.
  14. In some Nth worst case scenario the company would be able to stay afloat and fill its obligations but speculations about its well-being would creep into discussion boards.
  15. On Dec 17 update it was told the production rate was ramped up. On Jan 17 Erik mentioned the batch was "6x bigger than the previous batches combined" and that they had produced 70% of the pre-orders. So 60% of pre-orders was produced in 5 weeks. While Fxtec cannot forecast, I can. Even at half the rate achived at January they should be able to produce remaining 30% of the pre-orders in 5 weeks. 🙂
  16. It seems to me the update frequency is inversely correlated to the production rate.
  17. I thought my N900 with Mugen battery was a bit heavy and measured it: 206.7 grams, and my N950 weighs 164.5 grams. Google search said Pro1 weighs 244.6 grams. It is heavy.
  18. Foxconn says cautiously resuming China output, warns coronavirus will hit revenue "KGI estimates Foxconn’s factories in China will be operating at 30% to 40% of normal production levels by the end of February"
  19. Thanks. When Foxconn factories restart at Shenzhen it will be in the news. This news is about Zhengzhou: Apple supplier Foxconn restarts key China plant with 10% of workforce, source says "The company, however, has not yet been allowed to restart production in Shenzhen, a southern manufacturing hub, the source said."
  20. Coronaviruses can remain on surfaces for up to 9 days, study finds "An analysis revealed that the viruses normally survive on surfaces between four and five days, but can remain infectious for up to nine days."
  21. Would anybody know where the F(x)Tec factory is located?
  22. This is not the factory Fxtec uses, but kinda related. Foxconn Extends Delay, Won't Restart iPhone Production Until Late February "full resumption for production at the company's factories might not arrive until late February or early March."
  23. I wonder if there is a temperature sensor in the battery and if the charging current could be limited by software?
  24. My QWERTZ order #42XXX is from Nov 15. No mail from Fxtec. I guess they have ran out of QWERTZ units?
