  1. The version of TWRP linked from the first post in the Sailfish OS thread works well enough to install Sailfish OS, but YMMV if you want to use it for any other purpose. It cannot decrypt the userdata partition (so you can't use it to make a backup), and you're better off using fastboot to restore the other partitions rather than a nandroid backup made with TWRP. Also, the current bootloader does not support 'fastboot boot boot.img'. ☹️

  2. My first phone (and only keyboard phone) was a Pantech Pursuit 2 in 2012. I was dissatisfied as it wasn't a smartphone. My next phones would be a Nokia Lumia 1020 (2013, with camera grip), HTC One M8 (2014) and Moto Z Play (2016, with Hasselblad True Zoom, which I am typing this message on). I did support the Keyboard Mod, now I pre-ordered the F(x)tec Pro1. Still processing though.

  3. I had few HTC Desire Z's, and preordered Jolla phone, hoping for some hw keyboard Other Half. I actually had both of those made by dirkvl, but felt them being more of a curiosity than a really usable thing. After Jolla I went to some newer Android phones with unofficial Sailfish ports, but then got tired to lack of hwkb. At this point I switched to N900, which I hadn't used before. Then I preordered Pro1 and was planning to use my N900 until I get the Pro1. But sadly I broke the USB port of my N900 two weeks ago, so I had to go back to my Oneplus X with Sailfish port for few weeks, until the P

  5. @piggz, @TheKit thank you sooo much! I guess I'll just go ahead and flash it. Hope I won't damage anything being woefully inept at anything alike , but the instructions by @Waxberry seem clear enough.. In case of failure, I hope there'll be someone more competent around to help me out.

  10. Hello It's different with Pro1 and Priv, although both are slider. With Priv's flat sliding, you can slide up with the finger pressing on the screen. But with our (stronger) hinge mechanism, to open up user needs to lift up on RHS, or press on the side of LHS, unfortunately with the case covered both sides became more difficult to access.

  13. [Behind the scene story] We did designed a hard case for the bottom part of the phone (keyboard part) and we paid for the moulding and we adjusted the moulding for quite a few times. There were 2 major issues which leaded to cancellation / production-held of the case: 1. The case enlarges the gap of the two parts. We worked hard on engineering of the product to minimise the gap in the middle and we achieved some great result. However with a case holding on the back and have certain bits goes to the middle, if it's firmly installed, it will increase the middle part and "separate

  14. F(x)tec Pro1 is very soon becoming to a reality so let's take a look of those rejected/concept QWERTY sliders that you were dreaming about in the past. 1. Nokia N950 N950 actually became to a reality but not as a consumer product which the reason it hurts so much. It would have been great successor for the mighty N900 2. Motorola Droid 5 Droid 5 was in development during 2013 but it was abandoned before public release. Probably it would have had the same specs than the other Droid series phones on that year (Mini, Ultra and Max). 3. Nokia "Lauta" An

  15. Contradiction in terms here: aPple are all about design over function, a keyboard is about function over design. I mean who with their mind on function over design would make a system with one key and add functions for single short, single long, double short and triple short clicks, if they cared at all about an intuitive user interface? Users of aPple devices should be glad not to be required to Morse things in with their holy "one key is all that is needed" approach....

  17. As you will find out, it is really hard to operate the PRO1 while it is in a pocket of some pants.... so a pocket is an alternative to a sleeve, not a case. And on the coffee thing, just eat the beans and drink the water, much simpler 😜
