  5. Using Firefox mainly because of ADblock, it works great so far. Maybe I should investigate other solutions, with this poll I'm learning there is tons of alternatives.

  7. Works just fine. Most menus (context etc.) stay white though. Also there's a plugin for turning white pages into dark(er) ones.

  8. It is definitely persistent so I've contacted support, they will be sending out a replacement screen with instructions on how to replace it. I had the option of sending it the phone off to a centre in London but decided I'd give it a go myself instead (I like a little tinkering). Will update this post when it's replaced to advise on the outcome.

  9. Feel the same way. Tried installing Dolphin that looks promising. Only to experience on install that a browser claiming to be about privacy, not just requests but requires you to give it access to location... So uninstalled before ever trying it. DuckDuckGo looks interesting too, unfortunately the build in AdBlocker does not seem very effective though, and it does not even offer a "Block Element". To add to that I was a bit surprised to see it claiming to have stopped three 'ads' on my own tiny ad-free wordpress blog - not quite sure what it was blocking though... And clicking the ca

  10. A few days ago, I flashed a patched boot image to boot_a. I used the image from here and patched it with the Magisk app. It worked wonderfully, I had root and the phone would pass safety net checks. After flashing the patched boot image, I backed up boot_b. Today I got the OTA notification and switched to slot b using fastboot --set-active=b and then rebooted and tried installing the OTA, I got the following error message: Install fail Reason: 20 Magisk is not active on slot b, so why can't I install the update?

  12. I don't have the Pro¹ yet... but when it will be there, I'll be at a loss just as I am with my current phone as to which browser I should use. Like @elvissteinjr, I use Vivaldi on the desktop, but don't think the mobile version is ready yet. On mobile, I've found only one browser which has a feature that I wouldn't want to live without – ignoring text block widths and inserting line breaks to fit text on the phone's screen, as an option that can be set as default: Yandex Browser. I've had to give it up though, not just because it's a data gatherer, but because it often becomes unbea

  13. Not on the list, but I tried Kiwi Browser. It has one unique feature - you can set the address bar on the bottom. That makes it closer to keyboard, etc. But I went back to Firefox, just used to it. And I'm double covered for ads, with adaway and ublock origin.

  14. While my phone is still somewhere in limbo, I was running Kiwi Browser on it. I use Vivaldi on desktop, but let's be honest, the Android version is pretty much nothing yet, even after all the years of having that in the works.

  15. I am not sure If I am going to replace my screen right away. Currently, everything is working normally and the crack is only a visual issue (for now). I can live with it. However, since the screen is damaged it can break to non-functional more easily anytime. So I need a spare part for backup. I will take pictures of the components when I am going to change the screen. I just don't know when that will happen.

  16. To give hope, we had a user on discord with a prominent pink line over the display. He got sent a new display unit with in ~2weeks. It was straight forward to change with only the screws to remove on the backside of the display.

  17. I bought a new phone after i sent my pro1 in for repairs. I don't have a problem with waiting, but I only sent my phone to them after they have already confirmed to have replacement phones because I specifically did not want to buy another phone. Then I waited like two weeks after sending in the phone and had to buy another, because I sold my old phone and wasn't planning on having multiple phones around. I need my phone for my job. I also know that the circumstances now are quite unfortunate, but I still feel the support replies have been a little dishonest. I've received multiple messag
