  1. i'm pretty sure if you place an order 45 days before christmas, you'll get it by this christmas 2020 for sure. i think they are going to ramp up the marketing and spread the word in 2021.. honestly, it is actually good for them to release the phone in 2021 and make a huge come back with an uproar. big success for FxTec for the year ahead, we're rooting for ya ! we want to see you succeed so we can buy parts and look forward to the Pro2 :))

  2. Order #46XXX (QWERTY) was placed on December 28, 2019 and allocated today at 11:54.

  3. I really don't expect that they manage shipping at march 2021, they have had delays with other devices as well. Also, I do not feel well with that hinge and we haven't seen an actual demonstration (not animation) of the device being opened. FxTec did that WAY before they started producing and demonstrated that they really believed in their device. Those big keys wouldn't be my preference either (depends on how they feel of course). Hardwarewise it seems to be the better option, especially with that chipset (haven't heard of it yet but it seems to be powerful). But in the end this all wil

  5. I have blown away some dirt (pocket lint?) and given the two sides of the top end of the support plate on my retail unit a tiny drop of silicone (the type you can use for the rubber sealing on car doors). Opened and closed it a dozen of times, and removed the excess with a paper tissue. And it moves smoothly again.

  6. Thank you for the video. The hinge seems extremely fragile and the sliders seem to tilt very easily (since they can't be forced to stay parallel). Looks quite painful to watch, honestly... I wouldn't expect a manufacturer to sell a device with such a mechanism so that's why I expect a lot more delays before they actually produce it. On the other hand we had bending and exploding phones before, so why not one that breaks in half? (seriously, I imagine this being open while falling asleep (happens a lot with my Pro1) and accidentally laying on top of it. I couldn't imagine that the hinge woul

  7. Their original plan was to have some devices in stock. Of course they won't produce thousands of devices over their current orders but a few hundreds would be my expectation. There sure is a demand although it decreases the longer they wait (outdated/overpriced would be the arguments there). On the other hand they will want to fulfill all current preorders (I don't call four months of waiting an order), so I'd at least wait until shipping time has reduced to about one month where you can actually expect to get a device at all. This is my personal experience since I waited nine months

  8. There is a big IF in this. You are assuming that they are going to produce to stock. You could be right. But I wouldn't if it was me. I personally would not at all be surprised if once all pre-orders are handled, they will pile enough orders, before they produce a new batch for those - plus a few extras. I don't think they will want to produce more than they feel quite certain they can sell (plus what they need for guarantee repairs & swaps) If my guess here is right, I would expect that the more the order flow slows down, the less beyond the already ordered they will produce.

  9. As much as Fxtec will hate me for these words: just wait until they have actual devices in stock for 'immediate' delivery. You would get your device slightly faster by buying now but that isn't worth waiting 3-12 months for your device. Also I do recommend setting up push notifications for ebay and maybe even google search. That is how I got my device four months ago (I never spent money faster than after that email).

  10. Don't let that stop you. If you want a keyboard phone, have deep enough pockets, enough patience and another spare smart phone then you should order a Pro1.

  11. Its never really been in my pocket and just been sat on my desk due to covid so its not dirt 🙂. I actually was looking closer and I think the little leg part of the mechanism is getting loose, saying that there is travel on all the connecting points it does rattle (like others have mentioned) so I think the squeak is due to something not inline properly anymore.

  12. At this time I can only warn everyone to do business with this company. After three months I still don't have my money back and only get stalling messages, if at all. For me it is clear that they do not want or can not refund.

  13. So I'm now awaiting shipping info towards the end of this week! :) My Blackberry Priv is really on its last legs so I really can't wait! :P

  14. Funnily enough my hinge has started to squeak on the left side and the mechanism is getting looser compared to when I got it. So I'm concerned for it's longevity as well.

  15. well, based on whats included, in the lower right hand side of the picture, there's some tape, adhesive. not sure what he used though... or what kind of glue FxTec used... would be nice a more quality glue.

  16. Sit down at your desk and the doorbell will ring immediately. Talk about your shipping wait time and you'll get your stock assigned email the following week. Order #445xx (Dec 2019 QWERTY) is assigned. I'll be back on the forums in a couple weeks to ask very basic questions about adups and Lineage, I'm sure.

  17. These guides might be helpful: Teardown: https://gelraen.github.io/fxtec-pro1-teardown/ Screen replacement: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2586-spare-parts/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-40911 BTW: Are you able to share the instructions from the support (F(x)tec)? EDIT: Or is it this one? There are instructions how to disassembly screen panel with heat gun. https://matland.be/pro1disassembly.pdf

  18. I still did not use the new display too much, but I feel I have a working Pro1 again. 🙂 I mostly notice the working of touch panel is smooth again, so I was not able to enter my unlock pattern while I saw the lines but now it is possible. My touch keyboard often used to be stuttering but now it is fluent as it was before. The display is shiny. Color temperature was greatly improved also with original display using stock display and latest firmware and I don't have a possibility of a side-by-side comparison but it seems to be relatively good also in lower brightness. So I don't real

  19. To be fair, this is Qualcomm's mess not FxTec or IdeaLTE. Both stock and lineage use the Qualcomm qcacld driver for WiFi. Just different revisions. Apparently some revisions are buggy for some people, other revisions are buggy for other people. Maybe I just got lucky and picked the revision that seems least buggy?

  20. and it is hard to prove the device hardware is at fault in this case. If you are mostly driving the same car you could use a BT GPS receiver such as this: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/645104 Disclaimer: I work for Garmin. I never used that device myself though and I don't do product support so don't blame me if you are not satisfied with it, do your own research before buying 😁

  21. The numbers are assigned in order, but they are not directly subsequent. That topic has been discussed several times already in the unbelievably long thread "On production status and delivery" (I think it was renamed recently, just look for the longest thread, if you are interested).

  22. Alright I got the stock keyboard driver transplanted into the Lineage kernel and it builds. Now I just need to take care of the key mappings and make the FN key work like it does in Lineage. Hopefully I can get that done tomorrow.

  23. Switch the keyboard to type FULL. Get an adb root shell and run: mkdir -p /data/system/devices/keychars cp /vendor/usr/keychars/Builtin_Keyboard.kcm /data/system/devices/keychars/Vendor_181d_Product_5018.kcm sed -i 's/type ALPHA/type FULL/' /data/system/devices/keychars/Vendor_181d_Product_5018.kcm You can also edit the keymap to your liking. @3zet recently did this.

  24. Well last december it was communicated that the main goal was to have 1-day delivery for christmas. That would require more than just a few spare units. Not sure if that has changed this year, with the pandemic people are less likely to order a phone for christmas, etc..

  25. I do not think that F(x)tec ever planned to produce more than what was ordered. Perhaps a small overhead buffer, primarily for any needed warranty replacements, but I never heard that they would carry an extensive stock. There MIGHT be some dealers that want to take that chance though. We know that a few dealers had bought a handful for stock a while back - but they were sold out practically immediately. I do not know if any dealers currently got a stock.

  26. Lineage recovery will offer to install from sdcard if, and only if, a physical sdcard is present and it is able to be read without any decryption (eg. it is not used as adoptable storage). Lineage recovery will not offer to install from /data (including "internal storage" because the data partition is encrypted and Lineage recovery does not have any decryption capability. And yes, file-based encryption counts, because all files in /data/media are encrypted under FBE. This is not a bug. This is how recovery is supposed to work. TWRP bends the rules with data decryptio

  27. @acrux a lot of us in here are not fluent in English, and that is fine. Please bear with us. I do hope you see the irony in that you fail using the quoting functionality correctly in your pointing out someone's error... 🙄

  29. In fact, this is another aspect that bothers me. After I cancelled my order, I received several mails saying that they can ship my device next week. It made me feel kind of stupid because I was such a patient customer all the time. Would I have received my phone months ago if I had requested the cancellation earlier? I still see the possibility that they deliberately did not stop the delivery, in the assumption that I will change my mind once I receive it. This would not only result in the loss of money, but also in another customer having to wait even longer for the phone...

  30. Yup, I've had this since day one. Not the most annoying of the quirks on this phone, but still kinda annoying.

  31. This is just me stating the obvious: FxTec has room to improve as far as hardware quality goes. My first Pro1: Screen rattle. Dead touch screen digitiser after 6 months. My second Pro1: Keyboard electrical problem rendering it unusable, DOA. My third Pro1, replacement for the second one after about 10 weeks wait: Scratches around the SIM tray, like it was forced opened somehow. Membrane making noise when you slide your fingers over the keyboard. Beside that, my third Pro1 looks fine actually though I've not been using it much so far. I'm hoping th
