I'll see what i can do, unfortunately i can't use the phone to take photos of itself while disassembled. But i had been planning on opening it up again to put a thermal conducting strip on the back of the battery, seeing how it warms up quite a bit during fast charging. I don't have any screenshot of the signal quality but beforehand you would almost never get any reception inside, walking by a radio/scanner you would not hear it transmitting. If i had any reception at all inside it was right at the window and then only like 1 bar of 4G, never anything else. Wifi connection was frequently3 points

As I said in another thread, I'm a bit more optimistic than this. I will be surprised if they hit March, but I don't expect anything on the scale of 6 months to a year unless there is another global shutdown. I do think 2021 is different from 2020. Of course, I have no particular facts to base this projection on,2 points

Yep, see that corner in the right circle? That's where i ripped it with my bigass "wurstfingers" as us germans would say xD By the way, for opening the case without a scratch, one of those shaving blades that have a grip on one side and a blade on the other, also used for scratching stuff from automotive glass panels, works very well.1 point

You pay more because you're guaranteed to get it, and you'd get it faster.1 point

oh yeah i should have mentioned it, you shouldnt sand those gold connectors down that much, just rough them up a tiny bit and nudge them to go outwards - the aluminium contact plates on the case side however should probably be sanded and roughed up a little1 point
-
As of gold-plated contacts, really should take care of not removing it together with other dust as it will be temporary good but will degrade soon after. So the very slim gold layer should remain in place. Basically, a piece of plain paper is enough instead of sandpaper and will do the job.1 point

This is exactly why i am interested in the device (other than the physical keyboard, but my BB key2 solves that perfectly already) Well, that PC is vastly more powerfull than what you would get on a phone with ARM emulating x86, for quite some time.. So don't get your hopes up. If you are into gaming, the GPD lineup of devices will cover you way better. WoA on the Fxtec would be quite good for productivity, "docked desktop use" etc. But not for gaming. But i really can't find any information on development status, only that the telegram group is quite dead :/1 point

You have ordered your phone preloaded with UbuntuTouch, which is not identical to the Ubuntu distribution for the PC. UbuntuTouch is based on Android in large parts. It does not use systemd as process 1, and probably won't anytime soon. The choice of (native) Apps is more limited in UbuntuTouch compared to Android. But as you describe your (quite basic) requirements, UbuntuTouch will probably provide everythig you need. If you insist on Devuan for philosophical reasons: it runs nicely in one of the various chroot/proot solutions for Android/LineageOS. I have it in a (rooted) Chroot o1 point

Well, I only asked because the Windows 10 logo is shown on the product info for OS that are coming......1 point

I do agree 😁 With no real usage, but still connected to both WiFi and mobile network, mine can last a week. So we are down to what is substantially eating power is the screen and cpu when in use. And we can hardly complain on that. I would claim that anyone on AICP that got a poor idle stamina on the Pro1, either need to weed out in the stuff they got running in the background, or should try to check if the device physically is placed where there is very poor reception of WiFi and/or mobile signal, so the device struggles to keep the connection.1 point

I sent support an email explaining the situation with my USB port and asking if I could get a replacement sent to me. I'll report back if/when I hear from them.1 point

It has been a while since I've been on the forums. I looked around, but couldn't find anything indicating new information on sourcing parts, so I'm posting a new topic. Do we have a source for replacement batteries yet? Do we have a source for replacement USB ports yet? I don't *need* the battery now. I'm getting close to needing a USB port. It could be anything, but it seems like a problem with the connections on the tab in the port not making proper contact with the cable end. I can sometimes get it to work better if I flip the cable upside down or tilt the cable connector1 point

The parts are also "scheduled" for March delivery (estimated). I'm guessing the spare parts are ordered at the same time as the parts for all the phones.1 point

Thanks for sharing this. I believe a lot of us have poorer reception with the Pro1 than with other phones. (as well as weaker wifi) I wonder how many of us have this issue just due to poor connections inside between the gold connectors and the aluminum that you mentioned. Do you happen to have any photos of the connectors and aluminum pads? Do you have any before and after screenshots of the signal strength? Maybe even marking up these images with arrows pointing to the parts in question would help.1 point

Thanks VaZso. I've seen the battery there (the Indiegogo page), but wanted to know if we've found a source of parts other than fxtec. For instance, we can get the screens through various chinese websites, and those are more reasonably priced than the fxtec screens, I believe. Regarding the Indiegogo page, has anyone received replacement parts that they ordered through there? I know the phones aren't ready yet, but I'm wondering if some of those other packages of parts have been sent out.1 point

Battery and replacement screen are currently available at their their Indiegogo page, however, I don't know for how long. I also hope these parts will be available to purchase soon directly from them, especially the USB panel... and maybe the keyboard.1 point

By the way, I'm having quite impressive battery life on AICP. Although it wasn't too bad on LOS either, but nowadays I can easily have three days of battery life, with moderate use. Recently I set up a home server running Nextcloud+Pihole, and I have found Pro1+Termux an awesome combination for configuration and hacking via ssh. Due to this find, I have used my Pro1 two or three times more than I normally would. But even that increased screen-on-time hasn't decreased battery life too much.1 point

I'm curious why I would pay more for a used pro 1 one than a brand new one? Indiegogo has the 8gb 256 gb storage for $759 I think I'll just bite that bullet. I wouldn't pay over $500 for a used one when I can get a brand new one for $699. Thanks anyways.1 point

Not a good idea to post your email. Spiders will pass it on to people you'd rather not have trying to sell you stuff. Better to use PM.1 point

I too had hopes for extra keyboards, and really wonder why they do not offer them. I mean if we pay before they are ordered from production, what have they to loose? But am surprised of the quality they have.... Having used mine as a daily driver for over a year, I do not see even the slightest sign of wear where more white are exposed. The keys on my Lenovo X1 Yoga Thinkbad (20FQ) usually last about three months(!) before the paint have been worn through on Ctrl and arrow keys, and as it looks like the same principal idea on the Pro1 (Transparent key, a white layer, and an almost fully1 point

As I ordered my X directly from FxTec rather than through IGG I also asked them if they could bill me a few extra keyboard prints but they refused saying maybe later on.1 point
