  1. OK more updates... Mine went absolutely nuts again, couldn't even control it. Out of desperation, I tried loosening and retorquing the screws mounting the screen with, seems like it helped. Somehow I managed to get it back in control to a usable level. One theory was that it could be due to the mounting of the screws causing a torsion on the screen, since sometimes pressing on the side frame it would trigger the issue. Could be fluke, not sure. Guess I'll just have to keep experimenting till I get my replacement screen.
  2. I think mine is getting to the point it's not usable, think I'm going to decommission mine from primary duties soon. The wild touches are starting to happen even when I'm not touching the phone. One thing I did notice though: if you need to regain access to the phone, if you gently massage along the long edges of the display, it tames the touches for a bit. Also may want to invest in a USB-C hub. So at least you can regain control using mouse and keyboard to get any data off.
  3. It'll likely get worse from this point onwards. I'm not seeing that many vendors on Taobao selling replacement screens for Elephone U Pro (same LCD used by the Pro 1), so it could mean it's a discontinued part.
  4. So the ghosting got worse again, I decided to do another re-seat. One thing I noticed this time was that the screw holding down the LCD cable assembly next to the earpiece basically fell out. I've screwed it back in now and tightened it down, wonder if that was a contributing factor as well. Let's see how long this fix will last, FXtec quoted me 1 month for the replacement display to be shipped. EDIT: Nope, didn't help at all.
  5. I've seen some earlier posts suggesting it might be due to static charge. I wonder me reconnecting it would have discharged some of it, thus making it work properly for a few days. However it is odd that it's only along the bottom though. Top end seems perfectly fine.
  6. ...and the problem came back. Although it's not as serious as it was before the attempted repair. Maybe just 1 false tap in a short while. Still usable at the moment.
  7. I reseated all 3. Thing is though, none of them felt loose or anything. I'm actually kinda surprised it worked.
  8. Just a small update... The ghost touching got to a point where the phone was unusable and I couldn't even enter my pattern at boot without a lot of retries. Also got a bit dangerous yesterday when I was using my phone as GPS and it kept randomly switching out of Waze. @Hook posted some troubleshooting steps done with F(x)tec so I thought I give it a try (specifically checking if any flex cables were loose), and it SEEMED to have helped. I followed gelraen's teardown instructions and took the screen apart. Cables seemed tight, but I went ahead and reseated both the LCD/Camera to main
  9. I really hope mine doesn't end up in a full phone RMA, especially not with how Google handles backups where it has to be 45 days active. Also paying for the duties and taxes when importing my current one really sucked.
  10. It shows the same thing for the most part. Random taps along the same axis. Here's one with that turned on and on a draw application:
  11. Bump... how's the email backlog right now? Raised a ticket to Zendesk info but seeing if I need to copy the email to support.
  12. OK I think I managed to reproduce it. - (Optional) open slide and set phone on table (had to do this, only got 2 hands to hold camera and trigger problem, lol) - Open Calculator - Slide finger alongside the bottom of the screen (right edge when phone is open), outside of the actual touch area - Watch the Calculator go crazy It's actually along the whole edge, not just the corner. When in portrait mode, it randomly triggers the "7 8 9 Divide Backspace" row.
  13. Looks like mine started doing this. Playing Mario Kart on landscape mode with slider open, finger is nowhere near the top (right edge in landscape), the notification shade would just randomly open.
  14. Known issue, and not specific to the Pro-1. https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/03/23/surprise-app-crashes-are-plaguing-tons-of-android-users-heres-how-to-fix-them/
  15. I was referring to them planning the Pro1-X, not the Pro1. Way to go butchering my words just to build your defense case. Sometimes I feel like this place is CrackBerry all over again.
  16. From what I've been reading about the SoCs, compute won't be affected as much, it's the GPU performance that will take the most hit. And for reference... even the $100 Moto G fast uses a 665 which is a speed bumped version of this, lol. F(x)tec really got cheated out on this, but they are part to blame. They took the risk of using an older SoC, discontinuation and stock out should have been considered when planning the Pro1-X.
  17. Base Pro1 is also dual-SIM, no? Am I missing something?
  18. Is there a way to get wired Ethernet working with the Pro1? I'm considering getting BimmerCode to use with an Ethernet adapter, but tried the USB-C dongle I have (which works with my Chromecast /w Google TV), and it's not detecting any Ethernet connection. I know I can just buy a wireless dongle but I already have the wired cable and want to use that if possible.
  19. Are you referring to the 7 on the screen size? I don't think the screen itself is moving.
  20. The slider started becoming a bit loose in the closed position, is there any way to tighten it? Still seem to stand in open position though, though the tension does feel a bit lighter than it used to be.
  21. Bump... I guess still no news about an form of System Updates, security or major version?
  22. TL;DR... only thing I got out of that is that Google shot themselves in the foot by making the update process atrocious. Basically they caused the slow updates and fragmentation themselves, especially when manufacturers actually have an incentive to not update.
  23. Depends how the device management is configured. Some are draconian where you can't even be 1 or 2 versions of Android behind, some are basically free for all and does a simple root check, it comes down to the IT guys. I've seen cases back then where BlackBerry Android devices were blocked because some IT management thought those ran BB10, lol.
  24. Wonder what the heck does that mean... anyone with a XDA forum account? Have one dating back to the O2 XDA days. Not that I want one... I just want FXtec to fix the current one, be it update the current one convert us to an official LineageOS build. And before someone says "flash Lineage yourself", I need the phone to be validated as stock for BYOD purposes.
  25. https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/10/27/fxtecs-new-pro1-x-keyboard-slider-is-the-first-phone-to-ship-with-lineageos/ Now about the software on our current phones...
