  1. My daily driver is a Droid 4 running Android 7.1 (LineageOS) and it's fine. It is a 2012 chipset at the latest. It is a little laggy sometimes, mostly because of limited RAM. It works well enough that I'm posting this from it. I also have a BB PRIV I use mostly as a TV, and sometimes as a satnav device. It works flawlessly with no lagging for everything I do on a 2015/16 chipset. I have absolutely no concerns about the "2017" chipset, especially on a device that is almost 100% open, including the bootloader. I still have a Dell laptop with a 1998 chipset that I still use for real work on a reg
  2. OK, so I'll ask the question everyone is wondering...how old are you? Fair's fair; I'm 36, but as previously mentioned was born old. I've been telling my daughter I'll be 81 in February. 😉
  3. You are a very giving person, and while I don't expect to benefit from it, I am still grateful that people like you exist to make the world a kinder, more helpful place. Also, am I just a dumb 'Merican, or have previous people observed the similarity between your name and ANSI? Your involvement with keyboards and characters makes it that much more amusing to me. Some of you will understand this picture LOL
  4. Yes, they come in many sizes. :P
  5. OOOOOh, making waiting harder, you scoundrels! :P
  6. There are several of us here (cough cough @Polaris) who feel that the Droid 3 was actually the best device in the line from a form and function standpoint. Unfortunately its now VERY dated specs make it not terribly useful today, but there are things from the D3 which seem to have made their way into the Pro1, and that is as it should be. I know all about Droid 4. I've been daily driving one since 2016. Happy New Year to Droid 4. Still working. :P
  7. I generally agree, but have to take issue on a few points. Primarily, yes, there are people who won't buy anything but the latest chip, but they also tend to be young people who won't buy anything with a keyboard. (For the record, I'm 36, so I expect I'm younger than most here. I was born old.) On the battery, yes, agreed. On the bezel, yes, agreed. As for the Pro1's keyboard case competitors, well, this picture is how I see them.
  8. The one I disassembled had it just as you describe the Photon. Yes, I disassembled it for the same problem haha. I have experienced it too. It just seems less prevalent from my perusings in forums and such.
  9. I know someone who lost everything on a fruit device because of this exact feature and scenario! It definitely should be optional, defaulting to off.
  10. I'm sure someone will find a solution to this need. I'm very sorry for you. Be well.
  11. It sounds like for all it's better specs, it is weak compared to the Droid 4, which seems to lose flex cables less commonly. May the flex be with you until your clack arrives. :)
  12. I'm happy to be a dinosaur. According to a certain snotty reviewer, anyone who considers a physical keyboard device is already a dinosaur, so I'll own that and take my bezel, thank you very much. ;)
  13. 24h runtime and 7.5h screen time? That's a battery I won't generally get below 50%. Well done, F(x)tec!
  14. As a PRIV owner, I can confirm this! :'( Don't worry, my Droid 4 is still awesome. Using it now. :)
  15. OR they can use a slightly smaller screen and give us a small bezel LIKE WE WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!! /rant off
  16. Considering that the Pro1 has a reported battery life of well over 18 hours of pure torture @netman I plan to use a cord at night. I sleep, it sleeps, we both recharge. Even on my old tired overworked Droid 4 I can generally make it all day and charge at night. I don't foresee a use case scenario where conventional cord charging will be a problem.
  17. If it's that well balanced, it could weigh as much as a brick and still feel good. :)
  18. I will add that to my next update. Thank you for sharing this.
  19. @Doktor Oswaldo I am maintaining a list of network experiences on the clack. Unfortunately, due to limited time editing, I cannot update the top post to make it a list with everything currently known. Fortunately, @EskeRahn is very helpful, and has the power to paste in the updates I send him. It just seems like a clumsy, bothersome way to do it. I'd rather not bother him, but it is what it is.
  20. Years? Wow! And the moral of the story is, good things come to those who wait. Soon we'll have a clack party! 🙂
  21. I'm sure it will, probably in an official and unofficial LOS variety. However, the use case here is of limited appeal so I don't think they'll hurry just for this. It is pretty slick though.
