  1. Can't disagree, BUT on the other hand, if you have that concern, you can always flash the image Chen provided over the top as soon as you get the device to verify that the manufacturer didn't do anything sneaky. Or are you saying they built the image and Chen may not even know what's in it? That's not to say I'm not eagerly awaiting your success. :)
  2. I'm going to double check that it really is and I'm not misremembering, but the screen shots you just posted don't look exactly like mine, so I think I'm right. I did nothing at all to mine; it came to me however it is.
  3. My only regret is that they said they wouldn't take money until a few weeks before delivery. I believe that was their intention when they said it, but it turned out to be just impossible because what they believed would be a few weeks from delivery turned into a few months because of problems. As long as I'm sure that the device is real and not a ruse, which several hundred devices already delivered seems to confirm incontrovertibly, I can wait a LONG time. You don't preorder a device you need to do work this week because your old one broke; you preorder a device you really wish to own be
  4. Nothing to hide LOL. I just went into the app list, force stopped, disabled, and deleted data for every single stock app, Google, BlackBerry, and otherwise, that I possibly could. I don't remember which ones, but it was EVERY SINGLE ONE that it allowed, with the exception of Phone, although I don't use that either at this point on that device because I hate the keyboard. I mostly use it to watch YouTube videos of Finnish rednecks crushing things, and occasionally this forum when the battery is dead on my Droid 4.
  5. Yeah, it was an accident. It was left in a pocket. I can't even blame my wife for it.....I was doing my own laundry because I was away from home at the time. LOL. I was using it as just an old thing for watching videos with Android 4.1 hacked onto it, but one of the guys who worked for me borrowed it to use as a phone AFTER it was washed. The only thing that didn't work was the microphone, so he used it with a bluetooth headset. This was in 2016. Good times. :)
  6. Mine is not on Android 6, mine is on Android 7, and looks virtually indistinguishable from my Droid 4 on 7.1. I assume this is an official firmware update he simply never received. I have no idea why.
  7. I don't know about that.....my Droid 4(2012) running 7.1 thanks to Lineage OS is a little doggy, but still plays videos in the browser and VideoLAN player just fine. My PRIV is light years faster and perfectly stable. I accidentally discovered why the PRIV is a little doggy and has terrible battery life out-of-the-box: a lot of the built-in software. I disable as much as possible in favor of third-party or not having the "feature" and mine now has excellent performance AND excellent battery life. I'd use it as my daily driver if it didn't have the keyboard the wrong direction. 😉 @EskeRahn
  8. No, the worst part is that a lot of people are assuming the worst when they don't know.
  9. @SchattengestaIt Snow is ALWAYS a bad coincidence, whether there's a clack involved or not. I should know; I live in one of the snowiest places on earth, Northwestern Michigan (US) All silliness aside, I put an original Droid through the washer AND dryer and it still mostly worked. Salt is highly corrosive and conductive, and definitely a huge culprit here.
  10. @Keyahnig I'm a weirdo with no life who basically reads everything ever posted here and manages to remember most of it. There was a clarification made somewhere in this forum that refunds have to be approved by the executives, since they do not have dedicated financial staff. Normal customer service people do not have that power. Currently at least Chen is in China doing everything possible to get the orders filled as quickly as humanly possible. It would not surprise me if that were true for other admins as well. The irony is that while you're upset that they haven't approved your refund
  11. Let me help you. I wish I remember where I read it, but the statement was made that additional personnel were hired at the factory to bang out these devices much more quickly when it became clear that what they had was not enough. This has already been done, and devices are now being made much more quickly. Your long-anticipated device is only a few weeks away now. Cancelling will come between you and that device, and even if you reorder it later, you will have introduced additional delays by bumping yourself out of the current queue and into a later one. The owner of the company is personally
  12. Just out of curiosity, what was the timing? If they started production around this time, which is a general lull in manufacturing of consumer stuff because most of the West spent all their money on Christmas, it sure couldn't have hurt. Also curious, did the people involved have prior experience in designing and manufacturing similar devices, so they would know the process already? I'm not asserting that they did, but I can certainly say the F(x)tec did not have either of these advantages, and it put them at a tremendous disadvantage. @Artemis-kun Also, the Pro1's specs read ancient today
  13. @tdm do you expect to have VoLTE working in your initial phone-working release? I will be unable to use LOS on my device otherwise, so may have to wait to install it otherwise.
  14. Would it be bad business to say what the project is? It sounds like an opportunity for someone with the experience to swoop in and save the day, assuming that the unassembled parts actually do pertain to the device in question, and aren't an elaborate ruse.
  15. The statement was made that more people had been hired at the factory to hurry up and get through the backlog. I see no reason why they would outright lie about something like that. I can also see why they might decide to consolidate and conquer. We'll just see. For the record, my good will is undaunted. I'm very sorry that so many others are so inflexible. Life happens.
  16. Then there's me.....my machines are old enough I'm not sure I own a USB3 port. Haha! My favorite machine is a Dell T5400, which is a server jammed in a desktop case, essentially. It's well over 10 years old but still screaming fast. It was cutting edge at the time, and it's still very respectable. I'm hoping the Clack ages so gracefully. 🙂 I actually believe it will.
  17. I'm very excited that another developer is interested in LOS for Clack! LOS is keeping my Droid 4 daily driver almost relevant. 😉@tdm has been building LOS for Clack, so you two definitely should connect. I believe he has a device, but may be misremembering. It would be easier if you had one. 😉 In all sincerity though, are you hesitating about buying this particular device, or simply not ready to purchase another device at all? As to your post being harsh.....it was pointed where necessary, but appropriate and generally very positive, and I feel it met a need.
  18. OK fine, I'll take that as epiphanic. LOL! I re-read your post and it didn't sound as mean-spirited the second time as it did the first, so I'll own I overreacted a little. That said, you do say some things that are pretty bizarre, such as accusing @EskeRahn of intending to hurt people's feelings and harm the company by defending them....it honestly doesn't even make sense. Also, the way you "reframe"-d "distrustful" as "the educated among us" smacks of elitism, and frankly that is why my initial reaction was so strong. As you complemented my writing, that doesn't indicate that you think I'm u
  19. I actually found your reply so bizarre it's funny. I already explained "so what" several times: so you hurt the company for your own convenience--yes, I understand perfectly. When you've waited as long as we all have for some brave souls to make another keyboard phone, perhaps one can become a bit of a fanatic when someone does it. Obviously I'm not going to change what you did, but perhaps I can sway a few other "fanatics" that doing what you did, however tempting getting it slightly sooner and slightly cheaper might seem, is not for the best. If F(x)tec is smart they won't give people that o
  20. @ttodd It sounds like you asked them to do something their systems cannot do, and then you got upset that they couldn't accommodate your absurd request. Yes, there is money on the line here, but frankly, if losing 650 shekels would break you, you shouldn't have spent it on a phone in the first place. Just because F(x)tec is bad at communication and has had logistical issues with their all-new everything does not make them dishonest. You are a bully who calls yourself wise, but in reality you are paranoid, closed-minded, selfish, arrogant, and not even factually accurate most of the time. That
  21. Especially since many people (shockingly and appallingly many; have people no patience anymore?) have stated that they got their refund by just asking nicely. Myself, I don't want the money; I want the phone, and I'll wait for it.
  22. How is it even disputable? I always understood IGG to be an investment gamble, like the stock market. Am I misunderstanding something?
  23. It's just that certain people feel better when they have the credit card company willing to bludgeon a company on your behalf. You and I are looking at F(x)tec as a basically sound company with good ethics and a lot of temporary logistical headaches. The 180 days people are distrustful and don't want to lose the bank bludgeon, "just in case."
  24. That is not relevant; the office is in the UK and will likely be mostly if not completely unaffected by CNY. It is in manufacturing and logistics where things might get delayed.
