Right, Christmas is a pipe dream! If you want to believe it, go right ahead, but you're just setting yourself up for disappointment! Just to clarify, I have plenty of empathy, so much so that I was trying to offer friendly advice so they won't be so anxious and driving themselves crazy. Again, if they want live in this heightened state of anxiousness, then they can have fun with that, no problem here, I'm certainly won't stop them. However, it's a a good idea to have a general understanding of basic math and apply it here. It's just a fact that most of us won't be getting our devices

Something isn't right. The Pro1 isn't carrier locked, so that's out. If it's not being recognized as being inserted, I would double check that the SIM card still works in other AT&T devices. If so, my guess is something is wrong with the Pro1 (sorry to say).

Verizon is a US CDMA carrier. They only use SIM cards for their 4G LTE network as they were forced into it by the standard. The SIM card isn't a typical SIM card like what you are used to, it has very little subscriber data. They use the phone's IMEI (and MEID, which is typically the same as the IMEI minus the check digit) for device activation and all CDMA calls (2G voice, 3G Voice, and 3G data). The SIM is only for data over their LTE network. If it's a VoLTE phone (and the SIM is compatible, and activated for use on the mule if used) then that should also work for voice calls (assuming

Excellent. A good plan, and thanks in advance for keeping us updated. Edit: Oh, also, I should mention that you will want to, not only activate the new SIM in the Z2 Play, but you will want to activate VoLTE on the mule device as well, and make certain it's working BEFORE transferring the SIM card.

I think this is a bit overly optimistic, but it would be fantastic if this would happen as quickly as you expect.

I never said "maybe it will come, maybe it will not." Not certain where you got this quote from, but it certainly wasn't me! As to your restaurant analogy, you have two choices there, as you do here. Either quit bitching and realize that IT WILL COME, just not right now, or request a refund. I fail to see the problem, other than awful communication on the part of F(x)tec. Because their communication is so bad (although slightly better now that Erik is posting at least every week), you should have realized loooooong ago it's NOT going to arrive "within days!" Guess what? The only way it

@Erik Thanks for the update, but please allow me to offer some very friendly advice and suggest a couple of corrections so people won't get their expectations up and then slam you in case others in the company don't follow through. EU stock arrived in the warehouse today. We are just waiting on the warehouse to ship them out now. Tracking will be sent any minute today, or on Monday if the warehouse is too busy. Suggestion, replace with: Tracking will be sent whenever there is time, we have no idea when this will be, but are moving as quickly as we can to make it happen. 😀 I am not su

I'm sorry this is your situation; however, some friendly advice is to not sit at the edge of your seat waiting for this phone. Clearly, history has shown that it's not going to arrive quickly. Instead, get a used, inexpensive phone (ebay and others have them as low as $25 for a good working phone) and use it while waiting for the Pro1 to arrive. I have always used a physical keyboard smartphone, so I completely understand what a bummer it would be to not have one, but a six month, or one year, wait (in total, not from today) isn't going to kill you. I promise! In the grand scheme of thing

I thought you were clear, and also correct. Both you and silversolver seem to have a handle on the procedure. 🙂 I think silversolver and I were just reading posts, and responding before we got to yours. We are all saying the same thing. Now let's all just hope it still works!

If I'm the "pessimistic member" that you're referring to, I'm actually not a pessimist, but a realist. I have know for some time that there was no way all the preorders could be fulfilled by Christmas! It wasn't a guess, it's from having experience. There are just too many orders to be filled yet, and not enough devices going out such that the large numbers could be completed by Christmas. Basic math, that's all. However, personally, I'm not in any rush, and when it gets here it gets here. I'm just happy they built the phone and customers have started receiving them; way to go F(x)te

If Verizon won't allow the device onto the network after the SIM swap, then changing your IMEI should solve this problem, but there will still be problems with CDMA without also changing the MEID It's the MEID that's used for CDMA authentication. Correct.
-
To do this correctly the mules need to be a new activation (see my post in the Verizon thread). I'm not saying it'll work, just saying that's the only hope (without Verizon officially allowing the device). I'm pretty certain that if you start punching these phone's IMEIs into the BYOP Verizon validator (on their website), it'll come back as no longer being able to be activated. I have numerous phones which are currently active, but now come back as "not compatible" and wouldn't be able to be used as mules.

Right, the G6 wasn't a VoLTE phone at first. The later ones were, but didn't default to it, and the accounts were provisioned without the VoLTE feature. This will be problematic. Today, the mule WILL need to be a VoLTE phone and it will need to be active. I would also be interested to see the results of what happens when his IMEI is entered into the Verizon device checker (link above). Many phones that once were once able to be activated, aren't today, but are currently active. Sadly, I know this first hand as I have a few of them. All active today, all "passed" the Verizon's devic

What this refers to is using a phone with an IMEI that Verizon will activate (as though you plan on using it and not the Pro1), this is the mule. You can confirm they will activate the mule by using the link Craig posted. If the mule phone's IMEI isn't accepted at this link, that phone can't be used as a mule. Once you have this mule phone (and a SIM card for it), you just activate it as normal with Verizon. Make sure all the services are working (voice, text, data), then swap the SIM card into the Pro1. It's that simple. However, the mule will be dead (unless you can change the IMEI, or

I was just commenting that they use the IMEI (separate from the SIM info) for 2G and 3G service, and also to activate a device. You are correct that they could use the Pro1's IMEI (which in their eyes is a non-compatible, non-acceptable device at this time) to block service after the SIM is swapped. Thankfully, AFAIK, they haven't been doing this. In the past, I have used the mule procedure to activate different devices that weren't allowed to be activated directly. It has always worked, but those were the days before the new VoLTE flags and provisioning issues. This is why I suggest maki

...and, either way, they're all screwed up! ROFLMAO! 😀
-
Correct. The SIM card holds very little subscriber data and is ONLY used for 4G LTE services. All of the 2G and 3G authentication takes place using the built in IMEI/MEID. Additionally, to activate a LTE phone, the IMEI is used to verify it's an "acceptable device" in Verizon's eyes. They don't currently (and may never) consider the Pro1 "acceptable."
-
Yes, 100% Verizon is using the IMEI to determine if they'll activate a device on their network. The best way around this is to use a mule phone, them SIM card transfer, as silversolver suggested. Nowadays it'll need to be a VoLTE capable phone. I too have done it before and it worked well. However, it's not a guarantee so until someone here tries it and reports back, it'll be questionable. If I had mine, I would test it as I have a spare mule sitting right here!
-
I think if this is going to happen, it'll have to be with a mule as silversolver suggested. That's the only hope with Verizon (at least at this time).

Wow, KitKat, you are a diehard! LOL. Enjoy the Pro1!

Discussion and testing on features and known&potential issues
Polaris replied to rejujacob's topic in Bug Reports
I'm happy to help you any way I can, I just, uh, need a device first!! 😀😀😀 On a serious note... Thanks for addressing these issues so quickly, the fast turn around and high level of support is much appreciated! -
This would be cool, but I really like the LOS goodies, my favorite of which is root on/off. So maybe a custom TWRP that would provide for a dual boot option. You could have both: stock sans GcrApps and also LOS, the best of both worlds! 😀👍

As I always say, THANKS to tdm for all his dedication and efforts. Again, very much appreciated! Additionally, here we have yet another reason to stop whining and complaining about F(x)tec, and, instead, be grateful they are supporting us as they are with other ROMs! Thank you F(x)tec from a customer who will only use the phone with a custom ROM! 👍👍

LOL! Which is exactly why he should have been using a Droid 4! 😀
