Hm, it may not be the sensitivity of the proximity sensor after all. I noticed that I usually see my screen set to max. brightness by my ears touching the screen after a longer conversation. Apparently, the proximity sensor gets ignored ten minutes into a phone call. I can cover the sensor all I want, the screen would not switch off. I usually use Signal to make calls, but I think the phone app has the same problem...

(split from another thread) I have a hard time finding the logic here. If you want the free access to do as you please, you can just root it. The whole point of NOT rooting is precisely to make sure the user do not have the rights to accidentally make something that messes things up. If you want to be in complete control, then root. Yes there are apps that won't work rooted, for security reason. Typically apps like bank-apps. If you disagree with them requiring the device to be locked&certified, it is a matter to take up with the app-maker, Not Android in it self.

Download Finqwerty and select Finqwerty German QWERTZ as layout, it solves that problem.

AH! That sounds like the old known bug, that the display and touchpanel is inactive. I have seen it a few times on Lineage - though more seldom that I did on stock, before it was patched, If you open the device, you will see that e.g. Caps is reacting, if this is the bug. When I had it I held Power 1-2 secs, pressed Tab Trice and Enter (To open the power menu, and goto "Restart").

It has been covered here already. And not apostrophes (if I'm correct here), but the letters are getting accents. apostrophe is a separate key ' not a dead_key like ' and `. 47:0026:802b should fix the L key.

A few guesses. Have you tried a different port and/or cable? Could it be the version of ADB? Have you fetched it directly from Google https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools? Have you tried from a different PC with another OS? (I have been using 29.0.5 on Windows 10, and just tried reflashing with newest 30.0.2, that works too)

I think that is "just" a delay between fingerprint reads and not a modification of maximum attempts. So it should not affect security requirements.

Yes, I just successfully flashed and booted test11 and right now trying to update test12 over it (I guess I'm not brave to try test13). Update: Updating to test12 again made the boot afterwards fail. Unfortunately test11 without a proper QWERTZ layout is only slightly useful to me. Again this was only possible though from SDcard, not via USB `adb sideload`. Any idea what's going wrong there? Btw @ whoever runs nwwn.com, could you please set up a redirect from http to https?

Indeed. @tdm has modified it for LineageOS with a delay, ignoring repetitious touches. Hopefully this patch will come to stock too.

I'm guessing it could be some apps that are misbehaving. I'm still getting the "Recent Items" screen popping up when I open the slider and the only way to clear it is to restart. I'm beginning to suspect K-9 Mail is one of the apps responsible for that. Without root there's no way to find out what's still running hidden in the background.

For me, personally, I have found leaving auto-rotate off and pressing the soft button when needed has greatly improved my experience.

OK so I've replaced the screen - thanks @pistikem for the references. I did film it but not sure it's worth uploading as the guides above are of much better quality. Unfortunately, it appears the screen I've been sent has problems. While it's solved my initial issue, I've now got two "dead" zones running down each edge of the display, left and right. The reason I use the quotations is that it registers touch if I drag out from the middle of the display, but doesn't register a direct touch or dragging in from the edge of the display, which is most peculiar. I have the same problem with my Pro1. Usually my fingerprints are lost during reboot - but sometimes it survives reboot... Unfortunately, I don't have permission to reach this directory without root. (That is one reason I hate Android and its scheme of you device is not yours. I HATE IT!)

On top of the rotation getting stuck it also keeps bringing up the virtual keyboard even though the physical keyboard is open. It's been working fine for like 6 months but now really acting up. I'm starting to understand the frustrations other users have expressed on those forums. It has something to do with the opening and closing of the keyboard. Maybe I can implement another workaround in Fx Service.

That's now happening multiple times a day. A reboot did not help, most annoying.
