  1. The device is rather busy for a couple minutes after boot. So the issue is probably load related (as I think we have all suspected for some time). I'm currently out of town, but I'll try to get you a debug kernel next week that shows what keys are being pressed and released. You can correlate that to your typing to see if the issue is in the kernel or in Android.

  2. Is there any way to get the row of icons that has the navigation "pill" and "back" buttom to move to the bottom of the screen when the phone is in landscape? It seems a bit weird for "back" to swap from being pressed with the left hand in portrait to the right hand in landscape and for the gestures on the "pill" to be 90 degrees out when you switch between landscape and portrait.

  3. Yeah, I know that but in the end you bought a device with Google services. F(x)tec has done their best to give options to customers (unlockable bootloader). It is not perfect situation but better than nothing. First F(x)tec tried to ship phones with already unlocked bootloader but that led to issues with non-technical customers. So F(x)tec had to change that so that they can make business. There are other options available if you are looking for totally ungoogled device. Get your deGoogled smartphone now! F(x)tec allow you to flash unofficial OS without loosing warranty.

  4. You can disable that feature If you don't like it. It can be found from Settings>System>Gestures>"Jump to camera"

  5. I can confirm this is the default setting on mine too, I have not touched anything camera related since I got the phone.

  6. Mine is configured to launch the camera when pressing the power button twice in a row, which I find convenient to quickly pull out the phone and snap a photo. I forget where exactly that setting is, but maybe that's what's happening to you? If you don't think you're accidentally pressing it twice, maybe it's a loose connection in the button that makes one press register as two?

  7. I can reboot my phone, start Hangouts or Drive (sheets) or FireFox and 90% chance it's fucked up. I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure it is impossible to type for more than 5 minutes straight without this bug manifesting. EDIT: As soon as I open HNagouts and start typing. Shit hits the fan. Last 10 minutes I was editing a couple of sheets. A friend of mine sent me a Hangouts message. I switched apps and started typing, You coun't meout whIh d ty = You couldn't make out what I had typed,,,, AArgh. Edit2: Seriously I am going back to stock. This is absolutely ridiculo

  9. i wasn't able to bypass the privacy accept page from google.. but i did not ever insert my sim card in my phone. i did however use my wifi (kind of big mistake). i did not log into google for the set up either. and then i flashed it to lineage. if i would have known, that i can just boot straight into bootloader instead of agreeing to google, then that would have been the "safest" procedure.

  11. please help, i'm a noob. i'm stuck on cmd prompt fastboot devices and my pc can not recognize my phone.. even though the cmd prompt to get into fastboot mode works... edit... had to update my device driver in device manager while in fastboot with adb interface from the universal adb driver package. also, while in fastboot menu, on device manager on my computer, the portable devices>android has a yellow exclamation point.. but when not in fast boot it is recognized as usb devices>msm8998..... and when i try to delete the adb-fastboot folder with the clockwork mod universal adb drive

  12. Looking at a pic that I took yesterday on the rear camera in portrait mode. The EXIF data says rotation is "4", eg. bottom-left. If I remove the EXIF data, the image rotates +90 so that the top is shown on the right side. So it seems the physical camera sensor is mounted sideways. I can see how an app would generate a picture that is sideways, but I am confused how an app would generate a picture that is upside down. I'll have to look into this some more.

  13. Well that's a good thing if its a software issue... means it can be resolved...

  14. And before you ask: f(x)tec supports (almost encourages) people installing othes operating systems. So unlocking the bootloader and installing Lineage does not void your warranty.

  15. I think the optimal would be if we could arrange things independently for the two directions BUT when adding a new item in one direction it also tries as best it can to add it in the other, but allows us to rearrange independently and even to remove for one direction only. The automatic system could then have different 'modes' like the 'two-half' approach, 'keep centre and corners', 'start filling bottom up' and what ever other algoritms that can be thought up.

  16. I would say that a drastically different keyboard always takes some getting used to. I'm not typing fast on it (neither on a pc), but physical keyboards give me a LOT fewer errors than on a fake keyboard. And clearly faster on the Pro1 than the Priv for me, simply due the Priv's limited numbers of keys making Danish far from easy to type on the Priv. The swiping on the Priv could often help guessing the words with ÆØÅ before I needed to type it. On the other hand I got a lot of unwanted swipes trying to move the fingers quickly. So certainly do not miss the Priv keyboard.

  17. Screenshot Assistant is an awesome little replacement for your google assistant shortcut if you're not using the google assistant: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.beatbrot.screenshotassistant/ It lets you quickly take a screenshot, crop it, draw a little, and share it directly to an app without having to save a file and open it in something else. It's free and open source.

  18. Came across this on my surprisingly difficult quest to find an acceptable free (and ad free) text editor for android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gsantner.markor&hl=en or on f-droid https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.gsantner.markor/ It has some special mode for editing markdown which isn't really my favorite thing in the world, however it works nicely and plain text also is editable just fine. Also it's open source.

  20. Yes, maybe something wrong with the button. I must have dropped the phone atleast 10 times from chairs, tables and even pockets. Luckily the display never even got scratched. And without a casing available it maybe only a matter of time....
