Another pouch I made with 2 mm thick leather. With some holes for sound and led. Previous design of cases/ pouches: here and here.5 points

There is! Bus 002 Device 002, the Qualcomm Gobi Wireless Modem nonsense is a phone in EDL mode.4 points

There are a lot of them out there, there's bound to be some failures. The only thing that seems somewhat common are display/touch issues. I wouldn't get too worried :).4 points

It's certainly the phone yeah, worth a try. Since it's unable to connect to the device at all on the windows machine I suspect most likely some silly USB issue to be causing that.3 points

@MickH- if you try again the process, please be sure to also restart the phone by holding power button more than 15 seconds, then wait for the device to come up. That is because in EDL mode, it will only work once, so an interrupted process will result in a fault next time. Basically that is a very simple protocol, so the restore tool will upload and run an own code first on the phone, then it tries to process the required commands through that own code.3 points

It can be tricky to get right. Try opening the tool and the file, then plug in your phone when it is ready to flash. Also EDL is sensitive to USB hardware. Try different ports. USB 2 is better than USB 3. Good luck!3 points

Yes! Stop fooling around and hit flash. Not like you're going to make it any more broken.2 points

Yesterday I got a response from the support. So they do answer emails, it just takes time.2 points

Last week Liangchen Chen posted a video of a Fxtec Pro1 running Ubuntu Touch on Twitter https://twitter.com/chenliangchen/status/1272903474393604100 containing a link to an installable zip-file. I managed to install it and wanted to share the procedure, which is pretty equal to installing Sailfish OS: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2467-community-build32120updated-jan-20-sailfish-os-for-fxtec-pro1/ . Text below is mostly copypaste from over there ... Most important info first: Installation process requires that you wipe your current OS and user data! Download Ubuntu Touch1 point

Dear fellow physical keyboard fans, I have a somewhat noob question, but couldn't find an existing answer to it - so, sorry if it's a duplicate question. Does anybody know if the pinout of the 3,5mm audio jack is CTIA (i.e. Left, Right, Ground, Mic) or OMTP (i.e. Left, Right, Mic, Ground)? Thanks in advance for your answers! Max Gräf1 point

So much time have passed since I have payed for pro1 (#48416 from 20-th January 2020), but still no tracking info available. After contacting support around 1 month ago, they said, that tracking info will be available "in the next couple of days", but status is still "Processing". Now support is not even responding to emails. This attitude towards customers is simply bad. I didn't issue a refund yet only because I really like idea of pro1's keyboard.1 point

Really? I thought that was the laptop's built in WiFi. So you think it's worth a try?1 point

Thanks for all the help and suggestions so far guys. I'll keep trying any suggestions you make (short of opening the device up). I did try connecting the phone to my Linux laptop (ZorinOS) but it didn't even detect it.1 point

I'd try a different cable / port I've had problems with flashboot doing the same thing device is there when initially trying it then disappears. Also seen that with the incorrect driver as well. Do you need to install a specific EDL driver for this maybe? (I wouldn't trust whatever windows gives you automatically)1 point

OK so after clicking "Flash" the progress bar pops up briefly and then I get this:- 😒1 point

Firefox does indeed lock rotation occasionally. I see it on my 1+7pro sometimes. You just need to kill and restart it. Also, I generally like to keep some diagnostic tools on all my devices which can help figure out issues like these. Sensor Box (for all sensors including rotation), GPS Test, and NFC Tools frequently come in handy.1 point

It's still on my TODO list. But I am writing an Android based backup/restore solution first. This will be much more flexible than TWRP. Check the AICP-Q thread.1 point

A brief update... I've been working on a backup/restore solution for Linux (plus an Android app to drive it) that will be able to do full backup/restore, similar to TWRP. This is a bit of an involved project, but it will be well worth it in the end. It will be cosmetically similar to tar on the command line to make it familiar to use, but it is an entirely new code base. Some of the features include: A client/server mode for use in Android and other privilege sensitive environments. Built-in compression and encryption support. The Android app will mo1 point

I'm on Lineage and sticky shift works more on an app by app basis. WhatsApp, Messenger, Firefox, Discord... they all work fine with sticky shift. But then I write a mail in GMail and suddenly I have to hold down shift again to get the next keypress to be upper case.1 point

The main drawback of LOS over Android is that some apps may not work. Disney+ for instance or some app doing extra security checks, like banking app or Microsoft Authenticator maybe?1 point

@Ivan Raiskiy I am in the same boat as you ... ordered Jan 22nd ... was hoping I would get notice in the next batch ( end of Oct ) ... but they have focus'd on new product release instead!1 point

The announcement of the Pro1-X suggests that UbuntuTouch could very well become a first-class citizen on Pro1/Pro1-X. So I assume that some development effort must have been going on on the side of the Ubuntu port. I wonder why there are no news on this. Is anyone on this forum following UBPorts development? Are there other sources of information?1 point

I made a leather pouch for the Pro1. I used cow leather, thickness about 2 mm. All the parts are glued with super glue gel adhesive which remains flexible. I made some holes to see the led and to get stereo sound! There is no flap for closing, just a gap that opens to let the device in and out. see pictures for the details. If you want to try something similar, make sure that the inner part is about 1 mm wider than the phone to ensure it’s easy to slide it out.1 point

My phone is stuck on the main screen wtih the Pro1 logo at the top, and Ubuntu touch logo at the bottom, but won't do anything else. Do I (totally technically illiterate need to restore the Pro1 basics and then start over with the Ubuntu installer?0 points
