  1. Well I ordered the phone waaaay before the first was out and I was even more uncertain if I get one. But the way I see it is this: I am complaining about the missing HWKB on phones since years. I still miss my N900. Even my wife remembers that phone, because I made a huge drama when it died! So now I got the chance to support my goal. Instead of just whining about it all the time, I decided to take the risk and pledge that 800$. It was way more than I ever paid for a phone and I wasn't sure that I get anything for it. But I didn't want to be like so many people, always asking for stuff an

  3. Okay I figured out the problem with yesterday's build. I did not clean out my build tree from last time, and the Lineage guys changed the location of a file so I had two copies in the zip. I've done a clean build and verified that it flashes and boots okay this time. New build, same link: 2b0478469b9f756f613f20549cee6b9f Dec 7, 2020 ... and please test exfat, my "big" sdcard is currently formatted ext4 so I haven't tried it yet.

  4. After almost half year there is some glimps of hope: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/dualboot-android-boot-manager.4195929/ Will my dream come true to have Ubuntu Touch on my Pro1 AND being able to boot into LineageOS for apps that dont exist for Linux , like bike and car sharing etc? Lets keep fingers crossed!

  7. I tested with a 128GB SDXC used in my laptop which reported itself as exFAT and the Pro1 read it fine and wrote all it's default folders onto it. 😄 So I think it's good.

  8. Official lineage will never do incremental updates. It apparently takes too much storage on the back end. Don't ask me why they can't buy more drives when storage is so cheap today... the lineage directors just don't seem to care enough about users to make this experience better.

  9. Right also for me - except the rattling on my "second" device -, all of the problems should be software-related... like the handsfree mode drives the wrong side of the speakers and I hope too loud speaker in normal mode also could be repaired in software (but it may be also a wrong gain issue at the amplifier which should be solved easily but in hardware like changing the resistor(s) which sets the gain), so in software, it should be possible I think but the background noise may be a bit high as a result. Also uncalibrated screen temperature (varying with screen brightness) could be also

  10. I think you're mostly right. I don't think you should consider this a "normal" pre-order or even order, there are huge red flags that indicate to me that you might not get your product or your money back. It's not a malicious company or anything though, I fully believe F(x)tec wants to supply these products and refund the people that want refunds (though they probably want you to enjoy the product instead), this just seems to be a fact of a pretty small company trying to do something very ambitious. There's a risk that's normally not present when buying products, however if you approach it fro

  11. Mine is a pre-release model. That shouldn't affect anything for EDL.

  12. Ok sorry for all the delay I made some test and the phone falls back to 3G when making a phone call on AICP but not when I'm on Lineage. On AICP I can still get connected to LTE after putting it in global mode(with NR?) And getting back to global without NR. Otherwise it won't get out of H+

  13. Reviving an (almost) zombie thread, because I stumbled upon this: It seems like few know that Collabora, one of the major developers of LibreOffice (and many more FOSS projects), make a free (like in 'freedom') Android (and iOS) version of LibreOffice, rebranding it to "CollaboraOffice". The apps are officially recommended on libreoffice.org. They regularly update the app to keep it in-sync with the stable LibreOffice code base. And while it is of course difficult to compare to the desktop version in terms of usability, the software does a quite good job at viewing and editing (!)

  14. Formatting the card in a pc to exFAT, and it works fine it seems. If I choose to to reformat it in the phone, it is formatted back to fat16 (not FAT32). Though formatting to FAT32 on a pc, that is supported too.

  15. Typically (not always!) sdcards 64gb and larger are formatted exfat by the factory. I am not quite sure what format Android will use for sdcards, but it is most likely not exfat regardless of the size.

  16. Yes, it seems to be a huge difference... General support questions are much simpler to answer anyway.

  20. Also worked fine via OTA with GApps and Magisk installed. Had some hopes for the HAL qcom_audio fixes in the changelog, but they don't affect my car/bluetooth issues.

  22. Well for my part that is what I feel. The issues I experience are all pure software. (though I have improved it with a few strategically places tiny self-adhesive rubber stickers) But sure as many have stated there are faulty units (would have been a miracle otherwise), but the handling of those certainly seem like it could have been better. And the same goes for the software bugs. But as they are a dedicated team I do still believe the later will be ironed out. Also remember that a forum like this will always present a disproportional amount of bugs, as people (for obvious reasons

  23. I've updated my report following a full firmware restore + clean install that was intended to let met clearly define how to reproduce the telephony issue but ended up removing it altogether. Haven't gotten GPS to work yet (and cellular internet doesn't appear to be working either). I don't know where to get details about UT development specific to the Pro1. There's UBports's repository collection, but it's not Pro1 specific. Installation is very easy: https://ubuntu-touch.io/get-ubuntu-touch

  24. I have a bit of a unique perspective as a developer that was given a device and also privileged to some extra chats with FxTec. FxTec is a good company with good people and good intentions. They have worked very hard to deliver even though covid killed their ODM and almost killed them. They will do their best to get all orders filled, I'm sure of that. That said, FxTec has awful communication practices. I truly feel for folks that pay good money and don't get any updates for weeks or months. And for folks that send their device in for repair then don't get any ETA or u

  25. Basically, motherboard is the same or at least that is what I think (otherwise they would have had to redo certifications). I have a daily driver in the 2X range which works perfectly and another one in the 2XX range which has rattling issue. The display assembly is slightly different anyway, but it was improved in later models. However, the former (which I write this message on) had ghost touch issues after around 8 months of use, so I have replaced its screen. Anyway, flash (UFS) issues may happen independently of the manufacturer... so it may happen but we didn't really hear a

  26. I've been using Ubuntu Touch for about a week: Here's a report of what works and what doesn't: - OS Install process: almost perfect, a slight documentation issue for first time ADB users on Windows 10. ✔️ - OS Welcome thingy: Impeccable. ✔️ - Wi-Fi connection: Impeccable. ✔️ - Lorimi (the window manager): impeccable. ✔️ - The default terminal app: works well. ✔️ - GPS: does not work. That's an immediate deal breaker for me, but since I don't need to travel during our current quarantine, I'll test things out more. ❌ - Media player (for music): impeccable. ✔️ - Default web

  27. Yes. The Pro1X is simply a Pro1 with (if chosen) more memory and a different colored case. They have done no redesign of any sort here. Of course, I am just basing this on converging evidence (I'm not from FxTec), but I have very high confidence that what I say is true.
