  4. Hello, How do I obtain root permissions on my Fxtec Pro1, using only stock OS and no custom recovery? I saw the "Got my Pro1, any ideas on root access?" thread already. It doesn't help me because I don't want to flash anything with fastboot until I have backups of my stock recovery and stock android image. Getting those backups seems to require root access: https://android.stackexchange.com/a/220324 https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-do-i-backup-my-stock-recovery.2798853/post-53770286 In the aforementioned thread, `Linkandzelda` seemed to have similar end-goals to

  5. First time going to LineageOS on my Pro1, pretty smooth so far as well.

  6. This didn't quite work for me. I've had my Pro 1 on the stock firmware up until today, where I installed LineageOS 18.1 20210401. I followed this guide, did the magisk hideprops config, and cleared the google play settings, but afterwards the safetynet would still not pass (even in magisk's own check). I googled a bit, and installed https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix (downloaded + installed via magisk), then hid magisk and did the clear data/cache/reboot dance again, and afterwards safetynet passes. I also installed Google Pay and was able to set up NFC and everything seem

  7. Me either, but since Android Auto works perfectly, I can get everything I need that way. But, yes, the BT in the car thing is frustrating. It might make me switch back to deconvergence (using my Moto G8 as phone and Pro1 as PDA) if I ever take a long trip again.

  8. I did a clean flash. Flashed the new 18.1 recovery to bootloader, rebooted to recovery, did a factory reset/data wipe, then flashed 18.1, Magisk and MindTheGapps, reboot. All smooth as silk (takes me only a few hours to rebuild). Verizon works right out of the box, as does Android Auto. I tend to do clean flashes when moving between major versions. You can get away with a dirty flash sometimes, but I believe it's risky. That's why Lineage doesn't let you move via OTA. Oh, and yes, each nightly updates the recovery, I believe.

  10. Sorry it took me so long to get back. I only just got back to setting up, but so far everything is going smoothly. I expect the rest to go well/ One big surprise is that Verizon works, right out of the box. I had meant to try 17.1 when 18.1 hit, so I decided to try it on a lark. No muss, no fuss, no hoops, just followed windraver's instructions in this post: I'll continue to monitor, as I had it working on stock for 3 months long ago, but this just worked and before I had to do a complicated dance. I think it may be right this time. Everything so far is working great. Next t

  11. Update: I can now run the X.org X11 server inside my Devuan chroot. Yes, the real thing, not TigerVNC or TightVNC. The nice thing with X.org is that I can use it with xorgxrdp in the chroot and connect to my Linux distro via a much better-performing (native) RDP connection as compared to using VNC as backend for XRDP. I still use the Microsoft Remote Desktop 8 App combined with the default xrdp-0.9.9 shipping with Devuan 3/Debian 10. As far as I can see, one can find no information on how to do this on the internet. Either it is really tricky and I am a genius, or no one cares about

  12. There are several links to various stock rom packages in this thread: That thread also has instructions for rooting the stock rom. It will require wiping data. This thread Has yet-more images, and also instructions to roll back to older releases. Personally, I recommend rooting, installing all the magisk stuff you want to use, and then testing the ability to upgrade without losing root before you add any other data. You have to be very careful to not modify the system partition to preserve the ability to upgrade.

  13. lineage-18.1-20210401-nightly-pro1-signed.zip installed using ADB sideload. Installed the new recovery and did a factory reset. Used MindTheGapps HERE. All went smoothly, including flashing Magisk, and am now setting up my Pro1.

  14. It is definitively not just "a small matter of coding". I think (but unsure) it is all about a specific private key and if I rememben well, not even F(x)tec has that key, but their partner. I don't know if there is a workaround however.

  15. As an interested party in getting my pro 1x, I would like to have it unfinished... Then take my xperia apart for the sd835 & reinstall in the pro 1x! Time is the most important factor, even if the tec group doesn't realize it, so how can I sell my pro 1x?
