  1. I had this problem today, and as described the problem was that the display half had "popped out" on the top-left side. Popping it back in got it working again, thanks for posting the fix.

  2. I also use evil and vim keybindings on emacs. I remapped the left Alt on Pro1's keyboard to Ctrl key and remapped right Ctrl to Escape key. Thus, the most used modifier keys are near the home row. I have similar keybindings on my desktop mechanical keyboard as well, so there's a nice parallel. I can also remap the yellow arrow key on the right side to Ctrl, so I can still have two Ctrl keys. I also owned the Gemini and Cosmo Communicator. I just found them too bulky and awkward to thumb type on; 95% of the time I'll be using the phone while holding it in my hands, so the touch typing

  3. Build 20211219, with the December AOSP security fixes, is available at the above link. Full list of local mods with respect to upstream Lineage-16.0 tree: Modified gps.conf which (for me) enables the Pro1 to get its initial fix much faster. Corrected QoS powerhint signals. Backport from Lineage 18.1. Keyboard driver: Enable high keycodes Backport from Lineage 18.1. Keyboard driver: Fn-Tab acts as Alt-Tab. Cherry-picked from an experimental patch proposed by @Slion against LOS 18.1. Was never merged into any official distribution. Keyboard: Prevent unwanted mu

  4. To prevent more wear to the USB connector until some more permanent solution will present itself, maybe trying to using a magnetic adapter/cable might make sense.

  5. Indeed. Splitting sticks: On indiegogo (like any other crowdfunding) we do not "purchase" an item, we make an "investment" and hope to get the perk we selected in return. But like buying shares (where we hope to be able to sell it later with a profit), there are no guarantees. The risk we take is why the price of a perk is usually substantially lower than doing a (pre)order on the same item.

  6. Hi, don't worry too much. For some reason fxtec uses the dumbest support system on the planet. The support tickets form a queue and they process the oldest tickets first. The problem is every time you reply this updates the ticket and thus your ticket is now the newest ticket in the system. So very unintuitively your best bet to get a reply is to send an email and the wait patiently (several weeks, usually) without sending anything else in that email thread. Otherwise you're just bumping yourself to the back of the queue every time and support will never even see you ticket.

  7. Installing the image from https://download.lineage.microg.org/pro1/ is a breeze (if you're used to side loading through adb that is), and 'just works'. Some tips&tricks: In case you're not aware it does not come with Google Play (for people expecting that), but installing the Aurora Store through F-Droid is easy, and 'just works' works as well. Yes, you could also side-load apps after downloading with APK Downloader, but some apps don't work the same in that case (don't ask me why that is...). You could always try that first though, although Aurora utilizes anonymous sessi

  8. After a very long delay, this feature has finally been merged in LineageOS 18.1. Beginning with tomorrow's build there will be a new option in Settings to make 'fn_r' (the right-hand diagonal yellow arrow key) send ralt/AltGr. This will enable full Windows-style task switching behavior, as well as assist entering accented characters when typing languages other than English. Enabling this feature will disable the use of this key to enter the yellow glyphs printed on each key, but all of them can be generated by chording with 'shift' instead, with the exception of '/' and '?'. Since these two ke

  9. The hall sensor for open/close is at the other side (between the usb-port and camera button) The other sensor has no real effect by default (sends a key comb) but with @Slion 's toolpack it can turn screen off with a flipcase with strategically placed magnet.

  10. Just saw yesterday, that "Baba is you" is now on Android (Played it on switch before). I tested it, and it works great with the keyboard. Movement is on arrow-keys and WASD. Rewind is even mapped on Ctrl+Z (and more comfortable: backspace). "Baba is you" is a "Boulder Dash" like puzzle Game where the rules of the current level are blocks on the playing field and can be moved around which changes the rules. For example there may be a Rule out of three blocks: "[Wall][Is][Stop]" which means you can't walk through walls. By pushing one of these three blocks out, the rule will not be there any

  11. During lockdown, we've had repairs go directly to staff addresses, since we all tried to work from home as much as possible. I have hidden the staff address in the first message. I'd advise looking at your tracking, or provide it to us in the original repair request.

  12. I dunno about the X but the OG Pro1 still holds up very well imo (but that has the stronger SD835 in it). I have been using it for a good 1.5 year now and it's still quite snappy. I just hate that stock is neglected and forgotten but maybe one day I'll move on to Lineage.

  13. It's still a capable phone, though, and it's also still one of a kind with regard to its specific design with that physical keyboard. That's why people want it, and that's why those who use it also mostly love it, despite quirks, issues and the company seeming to be overburdened with the support. It is definitely not a device for people who would want to boast with the latest and greatest specs (which they might not even need anyway), today obviously less so than when the Pro1 originally was introduced...

  14. Sigh ... Both the Pro1 and the Pro1X are designed as certified Android phones. Besides having an easily unlockable bootloader, there is nothing "open" about them. Yes, the community has been able to port LineageOS, UnbuntuTouch and SailfishOS. Like for a myriad of other phones, that is possible because all three of these systems rely on the original Android core OS of the devices. The Pro1(X) being "Linux" phones is a misconception on the side of the media that F(x)tec never openly corrected. Probably as they expected to profit from the resulting (though unjustified) enthusiasm in th

  15. My LOS 16.0 build 20211111 is available for download. It contains the "5th November" AOSP security fixes. Meanwhile, my version has diverged somewhat from the official code. As of today, my tree contains the following local patches: Modified gps.conf which enables the Pro1 to get its initial fix much faster (for me at least). Corrected QoS powerhint signals (backported from Lineage 18.1). Keyboard driver: Enable high keycodes (backported from Lineage 18.1). Keyboard driver: Enable Fn-Tab to (really) act like Alt-Tab. 17. Have you tried applying some pressure to the earpiece? It's basically a small speaker that sits in the frame. If I recall correctly they work on pressure contact. It could be possible the pins do not bend as well as they should (like a spring action). Applying some pressure could restore the contacts briefly. Then it would be a relatively easy fix. Either contact support and wait for a new screen, or open it up and re-shape those pins. Worth a try I would think.

  18. So yesterday evening it worked. Now in the morning I tried turning it on and it didn't. Connecting it to the usb cable to load, didn't change a thing. The led is not turning it on either. I tried pressing the volume down + power button nothing. I tried connecting it to my pc and it didn't worked. I didn't dropped it. Does anyone has another idea?

  19. I purchased a Pro1X in November but have not received any update about wherther my phone will ever been produced and delivered. I asked for a full refund (four emails in total over two weeks) but did not get any answer. Is there a way to have a response; and a refund!! Or do I need to start something more formal?
