This is the complete guide on how to root your Pro1-X with Magisk. Rooting you Pro1-X can allow you to 'unlock' superuser permissions along with flashing custom ROMs. This process will require you to have OEM unlocked before proceeding as we will need to use Bootloader mode to flash a patched boot.img from Magisk. It should take around 20-30 minutes for users who are new with rooting their phones. Instructions for unrooting your Pro1-X are also included in this user manual. Click the attachment below to download the user manual for rooting your Pro1-X with Magisk. How to R7 points

Wow... They keep being attacked and attacked and things keep not working out for them! Wow... I really really commend their perseverance!4 points

September update: Dear Pro1-X backers, Here are the latest updates! As mentioned in our previous update shipping is temporarily on hold - we are deeply sorry for these delays! We have spent the last few weeks working through some contractual issues that have come up with our shipping partners in Hong Kong. This has unfortunately impacted the operations and logistics of all orders which were scheduled to leave the warehouse last month. The most realistic estimate we can provide for shipping and delivery is December 2022. Whilst we understand that this is not id2 points

The QWERTY version of Pro1 had a modified keyboard layout where non-alphanumeric keys were arranged differently (like "\", "[", "]", "`", etc), this is why we called it shifted QWERTY. As I did not like this mixed-up keyboard layout and in Europe, I had an option to order my Pro1 with QWERTZ layout instead, I went to that direction. So QWERTZ layout of Pro1 is closer to a normal QWERTY keyboard than its shifted QWERTY version itself. If we are speaking about Pro1X, F(x)tec has dropped this shifted QWERTY solution and went for standard QWERTY instead, so it is much more international h2 points

If you must let Google track you for a while best do it while you're doing something random - when you come home you can put sailfish on it?2 points

@maridavAre your sure to not mix up Pro¹ and Pro¹-X intructions and even images? Those are two completely different devices due to different SoC and the Firmware is not interchangeable. For the Pro¹, the unlock command is `fastboot oem unlock` for example. Also, there is no LineageOS for Pro¹-X yet. so i figure you tried to flash the Pro¹ LOS files? LineageOS for Pro¹-X has just now been booted up first time by a dev as reported on Telegram.2 points

The keyboard handler code (kernel module) for Pro1 of LineageOS is open source. I doubt they have changed anything related in Pro1X anyway (I mean in hardware). ...but that is the low level handling code which has nothing to do with layouts (except it has a feature to export different key codes on pressing yellow arrow for example) but it is also not necessarily the same code used in stock OS of Pro1X. Otherwise, after having appropriate key codes for key presses, layouts should be handled in OS level (Android part).2 points

Oh my... December? It's quite a change in tune from "it will ship next week". I hope people at FxTec are getting better at estimates, rather than spitballing the December 2022 date which then might turn into March 2023. I've been supportive of FxTec's struggles and endeavour to make a grat phone but with my Pro1 turned into a paper weight (for now at least) and my replacement phone showing signs it might soon give up the ghost... I'm utterly disapointed. I'm trying to find solace in the reasoning that since they changed the estimates from "next week" to December, they might have1 point

I think @eorg is mistaking recovery for bootloader. He/she wrote that fastboot does work in "fastboot-mode" but not in "bootloader-mode", which makes no sense because the two are the same ...1 point

What happens after you enter this command under bootloader? If successful, this command should return something like "Finished. Total time: 2.604s". Then all you have to do is to reboot your phone again: fastboot reboot From here, you just have to open the Magisk app again and see if there is a version info next to "Installed" under Magisk section. If this doesn't help, I'll be posting a user manual shortly on how to root your Pro1-X via Magisk. Stay tuned for it in the Documentation tab :D.1 point

They haven't reinvented the wheel - kernel module is handling the keyboard matrix through an IO expander IC (aw9523b) and reporting keypresses to kernel. Most of the keys are handled through that expander while there are a few modifier keys which are handled directly - it is important because matrix arrangement also causes problems decoding multiple keypresses at once. There is a physical layout what kernel module handles (assigning scan codes to keypresses) and a logical layout which assigns scan codes to letters / numbers /etc. When I have switched to LineageOS, I had some confr1 point

Also for the Pro1, the Lineage driver was completely rewritten with respect to Stock. I have always only used Lineage and that one indeed supported sticky shift. As far as I am being told, that is a high level Android feature though, and has nothing to do with the actual device driver ("qx1000.c"). I am pretty confident all those things can be changed once we get a Lineage port ...1 point

I thought about that, but it just doesn't seem to handle that security issue very cleanly. Relaunching the camera app seems to affect the camera settings that I have been using, and it's not necessary when the phone is already unlocked. I would turn it off too, but I don't see that option.1 point

Afaik, the keyboard is the same than the Pro1's. That one's driver is open-source, and all versions of LineageOS for the Pro1 have a key-remapping interface. I would assume those bits will get ported to the Pro1X's Lineage.1 point

Yes, the situation definitely is unsatisfactory. Personally, while I'm in the comfortable position of already owning a (battered but still mostly functional) Pro1 and a shiny new Pro1X (backed on IGG October 2020), I'm also still waiting for my September 2019 Pro1 website order (later changed to Pro1X) to be fulfilled. I can report, though, that three weeks ago (production updates usually come once a month, more frequently only if significant things are happening in between) I requested some information, and while they didn't give me any specific dates, they assured me that the order defi1 point

...and this is a Nokia N900 near a Pro1X. That has a key size of about 6x7mm and keys are neck to neck in every directions like a grid which makes it strange for first look. Also the number of keys was much smaller - still it was a very useful keyboard (and Maemo was a really good OS by that time).1 point

Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case. I don't have a Pro¹, but from messages posted in this thread it seems to have supported sticky shift and from the website it seems to have supported keyboard shortcuts. It's as if I'm using the same keyboard driver on my Pro¹ X as what you might find on a Chromebook (in other words, a driver not designed for thumb typing).0 points
