  1. I think you are spot on, on our current needs for the large majority (if not all) of us interested in the Pro1. BUT if there will not be a Pro2 in a couple of years, then the Pro1 might have to last for ten years, and if so we would like it as 'modern' as possible to last usable as long as possible.
  2. I'm no fan of the letter-shifted qwertY either, but it hardly a flaw. If you are in the EU you could just go for the qwertZ. That you are not a fan of the curved screen does not make it a flaw. I'm not sure I understand what you mean can "wooble" on your unit. Is it that it is not closing the two halves with a tight fit, or something else?
  3. As of comments previously in the thread, they just started retail sales before serving the pre orders... And there is nothing "flawed" in the Pro1 design. It would be just as silly at to claim that it is a "flaw" of the Titan that you need to open it to use the display.. To be fair the Pro1 just targets a user group that want a phone with a keyboard and not an ultra portable pc with phone capabilities. Different target groups, though with overlap. No need to bash either. And @michael.bosscha I would not call the hinge of the Titan simpler, just more traditional. Actually I think it i
  4. Yes exactly! That is the point! We are concluding on assumptions. Some seem to assume they are crooks and deduce from that, I assume they are honest and deduce from that (as a Dane I'm a little handicapped here, we generally trust people unless we see they do things that proves they were not worhty of our trust). Nor I nor they can prove or disprove the point of view with the information we got. It is like arguing between religions - totally fruitless.
  5. Please note that I'm independent, so don't blame F(x)tec for anything I write.
  6. Well this describes sort of in the core of any conspiracy theory or religion. An unfounded claim that can neither be proven nor disproven. So many logical deductions start with an assumption, that people tend to forget the assumption was there. You even see this in what is seen as science. You build a logical self-consistent structure, but forget that it is based on assumptions. Astronomy is a clear example, forgetting that they got several basic assumptions. e.g. "constants of nature", assuming that these are really constant over the entire universe, and in all its lifespan. Some religio
  7. Esc only do Back in the stock version, that is one of the things fixed with FinQwerty, using the Fallback
  8. Different launchers will handle the landscape/portrait shift differently. So you might be better of selecting a quadratic paper where the two crops will be suitable for your launcher. Some I have tried make the crops like a rotated T, or an up side down L
  9. Yes let us hope that even in half a year they can not produce them as fast as they can sell them. But though I hope it, I doubt it.
  10. You really think the demand will be so huge that they can not keep up with the demand after the pre-orders? It did get good feedback from most reviewers, but I doubt the demand will be that big. 😇😇 deliberately misunderstanding😇😇
  11. I agree that currently FinQwerty is close to being a must. I simply can not understand why the stock does not duplicate the shift and fn action on the digits and symbols key. I can not imagine why anyone would prefer shift ignored. So though FxTec strictly has handled the keyboard-driver, it is far from optimal - and it seems pretty silly on a device where the keyboard is THE selling point, to not do the utmost to deliver a perfect keyboard experience stock...
  12. Yup, stop stuff. Here is what is alive on mine currently:
  13. Android 7? Are you sure? How did you get it to Nougat?
  14. Well it is there if you do NOT select US (or any other, remove ALL ticks), so FxTec HAS handled it.
  15. UH, sounds bad and odd. Wonder what is could be as I do not see it?? So either I'm extremely lucky or you have some software installed it can not handle, or it has some hardware failure. I will PM you a list of the apps on mine.
  16. The soft button is the least bad option available for me too. Personally I would wish Android made a "Late auto-rotate". That is you would have to tilt it to say 90+30 degrees before it tilted 90 (and you tilt it back to 90). This way you could lie down on a sofa with the device without triggering the auto rotate, and only get the rotate when you actually want/need it, and more inuitivly than pressing the soft button.
  17. It is the wrong forum for this (but in this thread it just drowns anyway...) I wonder how it causes you so much troubles? The extremely frequent crashes mentioned are completely unknown to me, I can not remember how long back it last crashed. It might even be back to when it was still on Lollipop.... The only thing I can think of is that the 808 being the smaller sibling to the notorious 810, so It does heat on extensive use. And heat can cause it to shut down as a security measure, So if you use it extensively, and especially if combined with fast wireless charging, things can heat up quite
  18. It all falls back to the communication. IF they were better to make clear that what they were saying were estimates or plans, and not a guarantee that things were going to happen exactly as they hoped. And yes they have been very optimistic. (Always easy to see with hindsight). I guess they too have taken optimistic estimates they get at face value, and have not added enough slack to whatever obstacles that could occur. But now that they have produced some, they should be in a position where they have more control, and fewer external unknowns, and thus their estimates are likely to be clo
  19. I did not find the Priv as bad, except the 808, but apart from that it worked reasonably well for me, the worst being the keyboard in the wrong direction. I guess it is much a matter of usage pattern.
  20. "Activity launcher" can map to literally hundreds of different tasks, maybe that can do what you want?
  21. I have had confirmation, that is indeed the fallback plan. 😊
  22. And here is the core the "will do". If you replace it with "expect to do" / "hope to do" / "plan to do" / .... you will change from the paranoid version to reality. We all know they are really bad at communication, and should be much more clear in stating their predictions with these kind of conjunctives rather than stating future things as facts. As this so easily will be interpreted as promises, and thus as broken when things did not go as planned due to things out of their control. Do not get my wrong, I'm not saying that they will get things done before CNY either. Just that it i
  23. Why should you not? For all we know they have been bad at ESTIMATING what will happen. Has there been any case where they told us something that was incorrect at the time? They might have done otherwise than they estimated/planned - for whatever reason. But that is certainly not the same as not telling the truth.
  24. You conveniently forgot to mention that Erik stated that the "big batch" that was said to be about "3/10" was already produced. So when they can produce 3/10 quickly the remaining about 5/10 does not seem impossible with increased workforce.
  25. Oh do not get me wrong, it is not that the layouts are totally wrong, they are just generic android layouts not suited for the Pro1. e.g. the A-Z and 0-9 are OK for the languages based on QWERTY, matching the letter shifted qwerty print. But the rest is a bit random e.g. you can not get neither ? nor / in any way with neither proper English or US English selected.
