  1. You do not need root to get to the files, but as normal users we are not able to overwrite/edit them (without root). /system/usr/keylayout and I think vendor_181d_product_5018_version_0001.kl /system/usr/keychars and I think vendor_181d_product_5018_version_0001.kcm (the .kl file is a 100% copy of the generic generic.kl , unused entries not removed) Vendor_181d_Product_5018_Version_0001.kl Vendor_181d_Product_5018_Version_0001.kcm
  2. The problem would be the 'all' here, as there (for obvious reasons) are moveable parts in this device. Even if you are able to cover the whole thing in thin film, the hinge mechanism is not likely to be watertight.
  3. The first question you will get from a CC company filling a claim, is if you have asked the company for a refund, and what the response was. And unless you want to lie to them, they are not going to waste their time on a case before you have asked for a refund yourself.
  4. Glad you got it working, but sad to hear that it should be especially vulnerable 😥

Short cuts works, and are set up, from the home screen. Press the Logo F key, and do as described above. Just tested, works fine.
  6. Had it been mine, I would open it and see how easy it is to disconnect the battery. But I'm a technician, If you are not familiar with electronics, have someone that are do it, and as @VaZso said, the faster the better, especially if there is a risk of salt or other minerals in the water. If the water is clean disconnecting is not a must, though still recommendable. My next step would be to see if I by a lucky chance could get to the water, and remove some of it with say a cotton pin, or e.g. a corner of a piece of toilet paper. But again it is delicate business, so important you know wha

  8. Also combined with LIGHT heating (say 40-45 degrees) could help get the moisture from the phone to the rice.
  9. A single water drop that comes in the wrong place can cause havoc on any device though of course very unlikely. If you were unlucky and the snow was contaminated with salt from the road, it can have caused more problems than pure water by itself. I have used the device in very mild rain (took an incoming call), so it not just the first water drop it sees that kills it.

On 2, that is in the launcher. Press and hold any blank space on the home screen, Select Home settings Select Keyboard Shortcuts
  11. Well others clearly use better voting robots, there is a factor of ten to the number one now....
  12. Nice. I'm (among other cables) still awaiting this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362332003394 And I hope it will be slightly more compact. The images/rendering are not that clear on the size, but it looks very compact.
  13. Yes. That is the difference between real life and advertising images. 😇
  14. A small hint for punching the mic-hole. Make a tiny hole first from the inside, to get the place right. And then punch from the outside, against a hard piece of wood, to get reasonably neat rounded holes
  15. I like the type with the small flap, as it is less a nuisance than the larger flap on the first case I modified (similar flap to the one @Maplesteel got above) How much to glue all depends on how much you use the camera. Two benefits of only half The camera lenses are completely protected except when actively used It is a bit easier to access the buttons and fingerprint reader, when the flap is not glued close One deficit It is a bit more cumbersome to get to the camera, as you'll have to turn the flap all the way round to expose it.
  16. ....forgot to punch a whole in the outer back for the secondary mic.
  17. Here my attempt, with inner part removed, rotated and glued back. Note the uneven look of the inner back around the camera when opened for photo, as this part was previously glued to the back, before rotating. Cut-outs for buttons and fingerprint reader on one side, for 3.5mm and usb at the ends. Plus a cut for the secondary microphone, and finally hole for notification LED and speaker
  18. The motivation: Convenience and less tear on the plug. Especially in a car a magnetic holder with wireless charging is really convenient. But it sure has its prices too, as it heats everything, and the worst possible scenario for a battery is charging while heated. So in reality we should avoid it on any device that does not have an easy user replaceable battery. Everything are sait to be held together by screws, but we are yet to see how easy it actually is to swap a battery. This is also why fast charging should not be used in everyday usage. I tried to rant a bit on the whole thing h
  19. I'm a little confused by this, as you also turned it up side down. How comes the camera is not hidden? Ah! Think I got it. Gently remove the inner case from the flip-part, and glue it in at the same place turned the other way round!! I just tried that, On a new case - currently drying....
  20. Shaking does not effect anything. also tried thee 'figure of eight' type of motion usually good for calibrating orientation sensors.
  21. My GUESS would be to prevent hearing damages if you absent minded pick it up during silence and a high sound then is trans- and emitted when the speaker is close to your ear.
  22. Ah, sorry, got confused, you replied to a reply to @zurvan2.
  23. Maybe he is using Fallback? similar to the Esc, if the app does not supports Escape, it falls back to Back (Haven't got Termux installed) But I think we need @Anssi Hannula in the loop here. 😉

  25. I see this too, I can easily reproduce it: Place it vertically at an edge on a desk, Tilt it SLOWLY to flat. Wait a bit. Lift slowly back to vertical resting on an edge. To fix: Just start a program like e.g. AndroSensor that IGNORES the phone's auto-rotate setting, and rotate the device.
