I got the Sugru I ordered today, and started experimenting with a car key, where the rubber has vanished over the last twenty years. For some years I have used it wrapped in fibre-tape, and tied up with a strip - I will spare you the image of that.... Removing that and here is the key next to one that is still pristine: (To please @abielins and to get the Sugru to stick better I tried to clean it with some spirits, but some paper fibres stuck, please forgive...) I then took a small package of the Sugru And tried to shape a new key-head. It is much like clay to work with. I

Well even if we only want to shift a few, we would still like them aligned, so the sheet make sense. But It could also be making a standard qwerty on a shifted one, and that would change a lot of keys - though it perhaps would more sense in starting that from qwertZ, where most are correct from the begining.

Well I guess the best thing would be a transparent ark with mild adhesive on the print size (think like a large piece of writing tape) with some guide-marks, so all labels can be applied in one go, and in parallel. And then most likely one by one should be pressed firm in place by the heat of a finger. As the keys are not flat-topped, labels are not easy, but perhaps some suitable flexible material, that gets shapeable by the heat of a finger, can do the trick.

Well the lower of the two above was take all the way back in May, and thus with the Pre-production unit. So was already quite good that early. 😁

So to summarise: strictly reading there will be about 18% left as @jlavi calculated, if we put a pessimistic (mis?)interpretation 30%. At the least that give us a range of what is left as what Erik called "The remaining, relatively small percentage of unshipped, mostly very recent orders ". 🙂

Well when 70% are to be served, that will mean that ALL countries that has orders would be on the list. Even if only one order. With normal rounding 70% of 1 rounded would be one.

Well we could academically construct scenarios where this would not be fair. Say a country were all orders were paid yesterday, then 70% of those.... Or the opposite a country with only very early payers... Of course those are very unlikely, unless we are talking countries with extremely few orders, and if so it will affect only marginally seen from a broader perspective.

Well if you assume that there in this country are "super early" (almost) only, And those are not IGG backers, well then it does sound like around a fifth will have to wait. On the other hand for countries where all were super late to order, here some seems to be included. And no, I have no idea why they are doing it per country. A GUESS could be an attempt to compensate the US that did not get the ones they ought to in the first batch??? Erik explained on the why, before I submitted, see above.

Unfortunately the images in the listing are grossly faked - or should we be kind and say not what they sent.... And to make things worse the cables do not do charging (well they technically do transfer 50mA). I ordered two from different sellers and they both arrived today with the same issue. Tried three chargers, And both the Pro1s, and the various rotation-options so just stay away from these cables! (The labels said "YXF135586_1" and "T32503C" on both, they are produced half a year apart, so not just a bad batch)

Nice idea. And at the least in principle it should be possible to scrape off the black on the relevant keys, so backlight could work too, if the labels had the letters transparent, and the black main part intransparent. Could be a nice and fairly inexpensive alternative to dedicated prints. On the preproduction unit the underscore was very short, and I scraped a bit to extend it, and though it could have been done with more accuracy it works.

Please try to understand, this is NOT about disabling the fingerprint sensor, but to only have it active when the display is on, that is a press on the power button is needed first.

Luckily it is not ONLY up to the individual to abide to the law in all countries. There might well be legislation requiring a device to have limitations build in. Just as certain devices are not allowed to be sold without special permits. (e.g. lethal weapon in many countries). E.g. in Denmark the Scooters sold have to have the maximum speed capped. Of course you are still not allowed to exceed the speed limits for the model say down hill, that part is the users responsibility. I believe there is an EU legislation that require phones to not go above a certain volume without expl

I would be a bit worried on using SD for SWAP, as an SD card got a limited number of writes. Not an extremely low number, but if the swap is needed, it is likely to be quite active. At the least is should be something to be very aware of when choosing the particular SD-card model to use.

i disagree. If you want to have it out of the box, all that is required is a question during the initial setup OR simply changing the defaut, as it would be better for about anyne not using a case. So would clearly be an improved feature IMHO.

A bit off topic, but talking MTP-filetransfer you might be interested in this for doing incremental transfers. I use it for rather efficiently fetching copies of new screendumps, photos and other. Note that not all can be seen through MTP (e.g. SMS and MMS missing), so use it combined with a backup tools EXcluding photos and the like, as these tools typically can only do total backups.

Other apps can do that, BUT the problem is that some apps seems to look at and draw relative to the physical display and others more benign relative to the logical remaining display. So to really work, it has to go deep enough to also modify the answer for the physical size. So I assume the best would be if it went into the hardware driver.

Maybe that would require a special outdoor licence. 😇😋
