To be honest, I've never done a manual OTA .zip install in the way the people at the beginning of this topic were talking about. My guess is that will undo your /system updates and your boot image updates (magisk) and you will be left with stock without root. You can then reroot and re-uninstall apps from /system. You can download it like the people did at the start of this topic and pick it that way. I have no idea how that interacts with Magisk though. The point of Magisk is to have a system-less root. Why did you need to update /system?

I am rooted with magisk. I am doing a backup of my apps and settings before I do the update (just to be safe...that has nothing to do with being rooted). I'll then tell Magisk Manager to disable root, do the OTA, not reboot, and then tell Magisk Manager that the OTA is done, then reboot. If the OTA is flaky and forces a reboot in the middle of the update, I'll lose root and will have to manually re-root the phone. I'm hoping that doesn't happen. I should be able to report my results in the next hour.

I guess I'll bite the big stick and go for it as well. 😂

I just tried it and I still get audio crackling on stock if I plug in and unplug the USB.

I tried the USB plug-in/unplug on stock and it didn't fix the cracking audio in WhatsApp playback of audio messages.

I clicked around in that video to a few different places. I didn't see the FPS. Is it shown somewhere?

I have noticed that when in WhatsApp, if you play audio and then let the proximity sensor turn off the screen, which stops the audio, when you restart playing, it is often better sound quality. Obviously different than USB, but similar in that doing something changes the quality. I can try the USB trick with stock in a while and report back.

All my tests are from app shortcuts.

I am just trying to understand what state the Pro1 is in vs the Samsung. Are you saying the app won't even give you the option to use 640x325, 720p, or 1080p? What options does it give?

Thanks for that. If I knew they could not all be active concurrently, I forgot that. But even if it can't use them all at the same time, why are you saying it will never use the fast cores? If it is in the Wikipedia entry, I didn't find it, but I didn't read every section.

Okay, I just tried it again and it is behaving differently than before. I have no idea why. It shows blank in the thumbnail. Tapping that gets a black view with a camera icon. Tapping the thumbnail again (which shows the last photo, not the last video, even if the video was more recent), brings it to single photo view of that photo. UPDATE: After some period of time, it does show the last video in the thumbnail. Tapping the gallery view icon brings me to Google photos gallery view, with the video not displayed immediately, but after a few seconds, it shows up.

This is on the BSG GCam? So if you take a new video and don't take any photos, once you tap the thumbnail, it brings you to the Google photos gallery and you see it there?

I am not sure how to read this. Are you saying that not all the cores are being used on the Pro1?

You said the Pro1 was being run at a lower resolution. What does it do when run at the same resolution? Is there an option to turn off the sound, other than through the volume buttons of the phone?

It has been reported before, I think by an independent reviewer, that the phone is slower than another phone with the same cpu. The theory was that some sort of code optimization was done for android with the other phone and not with the pro1. As a test, you could try the LineageOS firmware and see if that makes any difference. Thanks for reporting.

I have an SD card installed in the big slot and the sim in the smaller slot. My phone seems to show that as sim1. So that would mean that sim1 is deeper.
