  1. Is this still supposed to follow right after this first batch? The size differences between the two batches must be massive. Let's be honest, you probably did not make the first one this small when you could've shipped something twice the size a week or so later. This does not add up at all. This is assuming you handle batches as batches, with no intermediate shipments of parts of a batch (which wouldn't be one batch). It doesn't sound like a great idea to have the next shipment be a big one, at least from the waiting end. There are likely financial incentives to do it this way, though. I
  2. Indiegogo + QWERTZ, nothing. Edit: This is old, but I'd have expected this small batch to cover all Indiegogo-coupon orders after this statement in all honesty.
  3. The part where they adjust the UI for TV display caught my eye. Wouldn't it be possible to use "adb shell wm size" to adjust the HDMI output resolution then? I was under the impression this wasn't an option, at least not system-wide. However, how exactly does Android handle such a scenario? That would mean the second output isn't a mirror... does the phone render everything twice in this case? I'm probably worrying over nothing, but pushing 2160x1080 over HDMI sounded less than ideal, even though supposedly some apps can be set to output differently. But overall this is probably someth
  4. I researched the company Chen shot the last video at. And as it turns out, it's actually not the one we think it is:
  5. The next update video came faster than expected, wow.
  6. The OpenPandora story is usually a bit longer, with orders taken in 2008 and first, but far from all, delivered in 2010, most later. My Pyra pre-pre-order is nearing 4 years of age, but that was really set up on a "when it's done" basis as many of that community wanted to throw money at it as soon as possible. And even then, the payment for that was only half the price so far. It's also getting there kind of. Funnily enough with an update video posted one day earlier than here. My Pandora still works fine to this day. Even the battery is still in a decent condition. I hope the Pro1 will a
  7. EU order with Indiegogo coupon. You'll be hearing from me if necessary. I've been waiting for keyboard hardware from these guys for a good while now. I'm a patient man.
  8. Closing in on the outer edge of the 18 - 24 option, but still there. Something to keep in mind for all age groups is that there's... let's say the average person and but also the nerds. The latter might not apply to 100% of us here, but many I'd guess. There are also many people in the higher age groups who are totally tech-illiterate... but I guess they're kind of dying out slowly over time now. No offense, old men. I don't get people who can do all their computing with just a phone or tablet... though I heard they exist. Everyone else should at least be using a hardware keyboard on som
  9. I can't believe I missed this when I first watched the video. * *I'm just poking fun, please don't hurt me over this.
  10. I think it's a bit pretentious to mock people asking about where the product they paid for months ago is. I can hold out and there are no sliding alternatives, but sugarcoating the situation doesn't help either. It's been promised to be just around the corner many times now.
  11. I'll be honest, this little update came with a minimal disappointed. Everything is "on track" to start shipping to customers tomorrow. Except it's suddenly just the ones outside EU and US at first, while you made it sound like the phones would've been at the warehouses there by tomorrow already before. Let alone that before it also seemed like you weren't fully sure how to handle those "rest of world" order shipping at first, but now they're the first to ship. This all makes sense logistically, but I don't want to lie and say I'm feeling extremely happy about this update. I'm being very ni
  12. You can skip the email if you send me a shipping confirmation instead at this point. The 29th is almost there and you still sounded confident so far... though to be honest you sounded confident each time we had a delay, but things look good so far. I'd prefer if you'd just drop the PR layer in-between (you are dropping some info on the forums here at least) but I guess you have your reasons.
  13. Limited editing will be an issue once the device is out and you get stuff like community megathreads where information and whatnot will be collected in the first post. To be honest, in most places you have no editing limits and it's not an issue. With destructive edits being a rare occurrence. And even then, from what I can tell, these forums have a feature to log all post edits complete with the content changes (default off I think), so even in the worst case there would not be an issue restoring the old content if necessary.
  14. I too would be interested in such a Game Gripper if it comes to existence for the Pro1. Bluetooth gamepads are fine and all that, but a non-clunky way to hold the phone and the controls is appreciated. I like the concept of this and how you don't need to be super careful carrying it around either.
  15. I suppose it will seem obvious, but I request the ability to change user or at least display names. Most old users are locked into using the one of shop system which is directly based off of our email addresses. This is pretty bad.
  16. Has there been any progress on this? Was this part of the software licenses that were waited on? This shouldn't be delayed for, oh no, but I'm curious if anything happened with this by now.
  17. Last time I checked on some software for generating touch inputs in place of any hardware input, I kinda didn't find anything that wasn't looking extremely shady with privacy concerns, worked on modern Android, worked to begin with or wasn't tied to a hardware vendor's system. In the past I faintly remember such software mentioned for other devices, but it's been years. What app would one actually use these days? It would likely need root, which is fine, but I still didn't really find anything useful.
  18. I suppose that might be true. Truth is I'd really rather see a bunch of assembled phones in one picture rather than these parts that may as well have just been a different table in the same room at the same point in time. Even the pre-production slideshow video from May managed to show a couple of units together. Why not now when they're supposed to have even more? Are they packaged on the spot? Then show me a bunch of boxes, I'll even believe you when you say they aren't empty. How to put this the right way... I'm not doubting them still, but this is such a non-update. They've "ramped up
  19. That would be cool if that was an update. These are mostly the same photos as the ones we've seen two weeks ago on Chen's twitter.
  20. This new shipping date leaves some questions regarding the batches which were previously mentioned. Assuming the first batch is really done and it only needs the license approvals, have you decided to merge the batches in terms of delivery or may some devices ship earlier than the given date? It's safe to assume that around the end of October there will be more than the first batch ready after all. But especially since these devices only lack the software licensing, what makes you so confident to give us such an exact estimate? I'm assuming the time frame needed for the license approvals is p
  21. That's a fun one to mention (and a bit complicated). It was painful, but after the new project lead took over, things got better. He did fulfill all orders he had taken eventually, but that was one of two companies who took orders and the UK one went bust. The first units shipped May 2010 after they took orders in September 2008... if you think about it, that's shorter than the timespan since I backed the Moto Mod. The tight-knit community also collected funds to pay for some of the orders of the company that went bust. Not everyone got theirs, I suppose, but most did. I got mine in 2011 a
  22. I gotta admit, I'm not really liking the look of those stickers. Repairability is neat, but I feel like I'll never open up my unit so I'd almost prefer them to be not there just for me. From a logical standpoint, my take is a bad one, I get it. So Eske, I take it you hadn't messed with them yet and they stand out like that from the start, right? Really wish they'd be a bit closer to the case color, but from the photo it also seems to depends a lot on the lighting. Mhm.
  23. The Android Open Source Project is licensed under the Apache license, so they don't have to release the modified source code. It would be nice if they did, of course. What they do need to do is note that they modified the launcher, but not even what they changed.
  24. They don't exactly have time to post on Twitter either. Those marketing posts are automated as you can see by looking at the tweet source. They had to prepared beforehand, sure, but the recent ones read like that job was outsourced. But as "they're busy" repeatedly comes up... what are they busy with to the extent of not being able to update the project status? Organization is hard, but it's not like they're screwing the phones together themselves in this very moment. I doubt everyone at Fx is doing the last software tweaks themselves either. I give them credit for making this device, but
  25. If you look at this alternative source link, you can see it was already completely approved. The photos seem to suggest that the FCC ID will be present on the back of the devices, but can't be seen on the photo, which makes me unsure if that had already happened or they were waiting until the approval. Might just be very hard to see though. The FCC certification itself seems to have been requested on September 4th... which is very late to be honest. This could've been done in a much earlier stage of development. Not a lawyer or in the US, but I believe you cannot legally sell consumer hard
