I think this thread needs reviving. 😉 My dog Helga (Small, brown, a Bulldog-Pit mix) and her BFF Lulamae...

As someone who could not have been happy on stock without FinQwerty, I confirm @tdm's assessment. FinQwerty isn't needed on Lineage, at least if you are using U.S. QWERTY. Can't speak for other layouts. I can't say if FinQwerty would work on Lineage. Never tried either.
-
I didn't quickly find an on-point thread using search unless we hijack the " mapping different chars to qwerty keyboard thread." Might be better just to break the posts out into a new thread, something like "Pro 1 Keyboard layout issues and questions." Feel free to come up with a better title. 😄

So "/" and "?" are "device specific features?" That is what is incorrect behavior and incredibly inconvenient for the user. Luckily, the yellow symbols on the top row can be redirected to shift, but the insanely placed "/" and "?" cannot since they are on a letter key which is already making use of shift. I can't even imagine how they came up with such a scheme nor why they thought it would be a good idea. It's a human factors nightmare.

SatStat just confused the heck out of me. 😄 GPS Test showed a quick first fix time (00:05 the first time, 00:08 the second) with about 9-11 sats in use out of 18 in view. Most are yellow and orange, occasionally turning green briefly. On the Average SNR slider, floating around 18. I take all this to mean connection is quick but signal is not strong? I'm past my pay grade here, lol. Sorry, I'm not all that technical so it is hard for me to help.
-
I don't know what you use to determine fix-- I only ever use Google Maps and it always does a good job of telling me where I am and where I have been. If there is some app I need to tell you exactly what you need to know, let me know and I will test.

Can you run/install GrapheneOS on the Pro1 ?
Hook replied to internationaltraitor's topic in General Discussion
I would assume someone with a Pro1 would have to port it. There's certainly not been any talk of that that I've seen anywhere. -
I don't use anything that requires safetynet on Lineage, which apparently includes my banking app. I am rooted and I don't bother hiding it.
-
Lineage is definitely not alpha. As of the official version, I wouldn't even call it beta. It is a full and stable alternate version of Android tuned to the Pro1. It will now get security updates as they are published and tweaks will happen as new things are discovered. And, no, dual boot is not possible on the Pro1

Hmmmm. Interesting. Do you know that your SIM is VoLTE enabled? And I assume you have VolTE coverage?
-
Except, on stock with a VoLTE enabled SIM, you can switch those sliders on and for those who have succeeded with Verizon (including me during the period it was working), that is how you got Verizon to work. So, yes, it must be capable. That's not to say it couldn't b badly implemented. I have no idea.
-
If you have your last phone still and it is VoLTE capable, use that phone to get them to enable it and then transfer to the Pro1. That's a trick used with Verizon. Might work for AT&T. On the other hand, they may not care what the phone is-- they don't for Prepay.
-
Again, I'm not really technical on this, However, if you dial on the phone pad *#*#4636 #*#* and tap phone information, down at the bottom of the screen are a series of switches for provisioning of VoLTE and Wifi calling and such. These have already been switched on in the current test and official builds of Lineage, so you really shouldn't need to do anything. However, I think it depends on whether your SIM has been provisioned for these things. If you are using a very old SIM, you may need to talk to yourcarrier about replacing the SIM.
-
I can't say for stock and I'm not sure how to test what my pro1 on AT&T is using for calls. I have wifi calling enabled with wifi calling set as preferred. It makes calls fine. VoLTE is provisioned. I have ATT Nextgenphone selected as my AP and preferred network set to global. I set preferred network to LTE only and it still worked fine. I don't know if any of that proves anything, but I'm fine on AT&T here.

Without assessing how genuine this proposal is (no insult intended-- it is just possible this is spam), this is a user forum and you won't get an answer here. You should email any inquiry to [email protected]. Nothing will happen from posting here on this matter.

at&t AT&T dropping support for 3G and Pro1?
Hook replied to lizardgai4's topic in General Discussion
I have AT&T Prepay-- they don't even keep track of what phone you have. I suspect you have a contract plan. It's possible, if you took a sim that was previously used in a contract phone, that they still think you have that phone. They are almost certainly not aware you have a Pro1, nor do they know what it is. The Pro1 supports 4G just fine. -
Indeed, what @tdm and @Tsunero said. I ended up leaving Verizon and going to AT&T. Hope you have such an option.
-
I'm certainly not seeing anything like that.
-
Yes, you are correct. I did try doing it as if it were one of tdm's updates and got roundly put in my place when I tried to sideload it with the Test 22 recovery 😄 . SO, yes, booted into bootloader and used fastboot to flash the boot image to the active partition, rebooted to recovery and then all the adb sideloading went well! I'm up and running. Thanks!
-
So, forgive my noobness, but if I am updating (preserving data) from Test 22, can I just adb sideload the new nightly, then use the advanced menu on the phone to reboot into recovery (which should be the new recovery image) and carry on with suaddon and Gaaps, or do I need to fastboot flash the new recovery first?

I've been thinking about what you said here and I think it's a misperception of the Pro1 (although I won't pretend I'm entitled to speak for Chen). I don't think the Pro1 was ever marketed as a "premium" phone and it isn't. First, notice that their marketing motto is "Function is Key." The Pro 1 is much more a descendant of the Nexus phones than a Pixel, iPhone or Samsung phone. It is a very solid midrange phone (with good specs) strapped onto a premium keyboard. My theory is that they really had to do that or we would be looking at a $1200 phone. They poured everything into the keyboard (

I think I'll give bit a try. I don't need Verizon, it has just kind of turned into an obsession. 😁
-
I wish I could figure out why Verizon is not working here. Did you have to change any settings? I'm thinking of doing a fresh install wiping user data and see if that somehow does the trick. Will be a pain, even with backups, if all that work ends up not being successful. The SIM works fine in the mule phone but not at all with test 22 on the Pro1.

For what it's worth, I've always reinstalled MindTheeGapps (addonsu too) when I've updated. It's probably superstition, but I know it will work every time if I do that. Always did that with Dirty Unicorns even though they would claim I didn't need to. But then, every so often people who hadn't would have problems. 😉 I'm kind of a manual guy. Even on my Sammy Tab S with Lineage, I use TWRP rather than use the updater.

Not necessarily a bad guy, but a little touchy. 😉 Look, yes, communication is not F(x) Tec's strong suit. And, yes, they often don't get things to happen when they say they will (in large part because, being a very small company in the UK, they don't have full control of the whole operation-- which is also part of why they hesitate to communicate). However, we are just a user forum. None of us work for F(x) Tec and we don't know any more than you do, so why get upset with us. You can try invoking @Erik who does work for F(x0 Tec. I would speculate that the shops had pre-orders as
