    Displaying Black

I suspect the January OTA did some fixing of this. I used to get the greenish grey wash effect when I lowered my brightness past 50% when I first got my Pro 1 in December, but I don't get it anymore and the black rectangle in David's post above looks fine at all brightness levels.
  2. I believe there is a "flashall" batch file in the zip, although I didn't use it because before I give up and flashed everything, I was trying peicemeal flashes to try to preserve userdata. I am not much of an expert on doing this (I had help from folks over in the unofficial discord channel). Just wanted to be clear about that. 😉
  3. I appreciate people posting these updates as either I've fallen off the email list or people who have received their phones no longer get updates. Lol. I may have my phone, but I'm still interested in what is happening and want to see everyone get their phones.
  4. I wish I could help you. It happened to me back at the beginning of January (posted in this thread). Right after it happened, I managed to brick the phone, so I restored factory images from October, took all the OTAs including the new January one and the SMS problem went away. I didn't do anything differently. I wondered at the time if it was tha January OTA that fixed it, but I assume you have that, It's unnerving not knowing what caused or fixed it because I realize it could happen again, but so far it hasn't. The only thing I can think of is to try different "Preferred Network" en
  5. The only thing I can't quite figure out in your test setup is, if you have Netflix, CBS or YouTube. a Roku box and a big TV, why you would ever be casting them from the phone. 😉
  6. AT&T uses VoLTE, Probably the MVNO is capable too. However, I have no idea how you know when you are or aren't using it.
  7. I have an LG smart TV with WebOS, but I cast through my Roku box (probably Chromecast works similarly). When I look for devices to cast to, the Roku box just shows up (in fact, mt TV doesn't, but I don't think I ever set anything up on it for casting). So my very uneducated guess is that anything that is on the same network as the phone and provides streaming service to the TV will work. I only cast from one source and that apps built in casting capability works flawlessly. I have no need to cast Netflix or YouTube or stuff like that-- they are already provided by the Roku box.
  8. Yes, just as mine shows as a Moto G6. That will always be the case, it will show as whatever phone it was muled on (or at least some Verizon approved phone from your past) as the Pro 1 (or QX1000 is not in their data base and likely never will be unless F(X) Tec works that out with Verizon. That's not likely to happen with this phone. Could happen with a Pro 2.
  9. This isn't a criticism, just a statement of personal preferences. I much prefer the natural flow of having shift reassigned to, well, shift, for the number row and such, not only because that is what I'm already trained to do, but because the shift keys are easier to use than the Fn (arrow keys). The color coding doesn't even really enter into my thinking. I'm not asking you to do this-- I already have that with FinQwerty. I know several people have been wanting the F Keys, so I imagine there are going to be folks quite happy with your efforts. It's great to see the continuing com
  10. Not exactly a protective case, but it sure does add some texture, This is a matte black DBrand skin intended for a Note 10. Didn't have to do a lot, The camera fit fine and the microphone hole was *almost* right. I trim the width and that's about it. My production skills with trimming are not the best, but the matte black color hides most of my flaws. It definitely gives the phone more grip while leaving the nice feel of the phone in your hand. I wasn't brave enough to try a cutout for the F(x) Tec logo. 😉
  11. Or Verizon ignored them. 😉
  12. No. Most sites will tell you that because these IMEIs are not in their data bases. There's a whole process F(X)Tec would have to go through to make that happen. It doesn't mean the phone can't operate on their network, You can try putting in the SIM. It may just work , or you may need to talk to customer service. I believe people have been successful with T-Mobile itself. Check the first post in this thread and then read through the thread for details.
  13. I'm not sure. I'm thinking Hello Kitty has a Pro 1. 😄
  14. I'm a little puzzled by this comment and may be misunderstanding. You can get to settings via the gear icon on the start menu and once launched, you can pin it to your task bar. As I've said, the task bar is really my Windows UI. Everything I use fits there. There's some very old legacy stuff like Device Manager that won't pin, but you can find it by right clicking on start.
  15. No, the orientation thing is handled in the slider settings. The only things you lose in a new launcher are the assignment of apps to keys (which I decided didn't matter to me right now because it has the flaw of adding the key-presses from the held down key to any app that opens in input mode (like an app asking for a password or a document in an editor) and the particular way the launcher is set up to not stretch and distort widgets (which I don't find worth it without more features in a launcher).
  16. Overcome By Events... sorry, I should have just said "outdated" 😄
  17. Is this of any use? I would have thought the update would have already been provided OTA, but I don't know (and no longer have Windows 7). Since I had Nexus devices when I had Windows 7 I have no idea if it could read larger cards or not. 😄 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/976422/the-capacity-of-a-secure-digital-sd-card-that-is-larger-than-32-gb-is Or is that page OBE?
  18. I haven't used it since years ago when it was "Classic Shell" but you can try "Open Shell" and see if it does enough for you. https://open-shell.github.io/Open-Shell-Menu/ I only use Windows for very basic stuff anymore and have no patience for tweaking it any more. I have all the programs I use on the task bar (including the depreciated "Command Prompt" DOS box they don't want you to use anymore) and, really, the task bar is my UI.
  19. It has been disabled because of some problems it created. They are working on it. Don't know time scale, With the phone closed, yeah, power button or fingerprints. With FinQwerty (not to sound like a broken record) the Sym key will wake. I know the default keyboard started out with the Esc key being wake, but I'm not sure that didn't go away later. Been too long since I used the default layout so I'm fuzzy on some things.
  20. I do think there is a way to get rid of that notification, but I don't remember how.
  21. Uncheck all keyboard language boxes and you will be back to default where ? and / will work again. Finqwerty is really a better solution, IMHO https://github.com/anssih/finqwerty/releases
  22. Fairmail is pretty good, but the trick is, even though it is open source, you have to get it from the Play Store or it won't be able to set up Gmail. Apparently Gmail makes a playstore check so if you get Fairmail from F-Droid, it doesn't work with Gmail accounts. But it is quite good and free (which it sounds like you want).
  23. I don't know if Swiftkey does the auto-capitalize. I uninstalled Swiftkey. The conveniences it provided the physical keyboard did not outweigh how awful it is at swyping with the onscreen keyboard. Since I now only use onscreen keyboard (portrait) when I'm going for speed, having an onscreen keyboard that slows me down is a deal breaker. I'm sure part of it is I have been using Gboard for years, but it is also that Swiftkey is just not as good with swyping. I've been told it's better at international typing, tho. I don't miss the auto-capitlize because, with a physical keyboard,
  24. Don't know if Eske gave him the idea, But Anssi asked me what I thought of the idea back in December and I told him I thought it was a good solution (which I continue to think) so you might have to blame me too. 😄
