  1. You type the slash and question mark by holding one of the yellow slant arow keys and typing P or L. Same with all yellow symbols, unless you use Finquerty which makes all byt / and ? work with shift. Not clear what you are doing with the short cuts. You set them up in settings and then they work in the launcher (but not in programs-- I think, it has been a while since I used the default launcher)-- of course, this was never a selling feature... a hardware keyboard was. 😉 The only problem I found with the shortcuts, back when I tried them out, is that if you had a shortcut open an app
  2. Wait, has there been a new April update applied to phones being shipped now? I'm confused. This is stock, right? And is your bootloader locked?
  3. Okay, this may have just hit the too annoying stage. It just did it again, third day in a row. But I learned something new this time because it did it while I was using it. The phone isn't turning off. The first thing that happened was the screen froze (wouldn't respond). Then the screen turned off. Clicking the power button did nothing. But plugging in a USB cable got me the musical note that told me it connected to my computer and the green light came on showing it was charging. So it seems that it's the case that the screen is turning off and refusing to come on so the only thing I
  4. It should have been. Have you installed all updates. The date on the last one should be 06 March,I believe, with a SEP 2019 security patch. Did you reboot after each install?
  5. I've had my Pro 1 for 6 months now. I use it without a case or screen protector, just a black matte skin on the back to give the back a little texture. It has been dropped a few times. It shows no wear and is still as solid as the day I got it. The hinge has loosened a little over time, as I would expect, but everything still feels properly aligned. I think this phone has a long life ahead of it. 👍
  6. Any android I have ever had, including the Pro1, starts back up again when it is forced to shut down by holding the power button for a long period. It is particularly good for an android device that is being bit glitchy, like a bettery pull used to be, back when you could pull batteries.
  7. I'm having something curious happening, but I'm not sure that it's the same a being described here. Every so often, I just find my Pro1 off This is recent and I need to collect better data on when it happens (pulled from pocket vs picked up on table). It's just off (I think of reboot as meaning it comes back on on it's own). It never turns off when I'm using it. I just find it off. Sometimes it's once every couple of days, sometimes it's once a day. I do think it is often when I pull it from my pocket (but need to start paying attention to make sure), but if the power button were ge
  8. Seems an awful waste since a) I have no idea why you think you are entitled to a refund for a smashed phone and b) unsmashed, you probably could have sold it. But if the therapy was worth $700+, glad it was cathartic. By the way, very little of the above has been my experience.
  9. The Pro1 is my first keyboard phone, so I'm not missing any phone I ever had. But I especially don't miss my Nexus 5, which was my favorite slab phone ever and was the only phone that made me not miss my Palm TX anymore. 😉
  10. I honestly think you are jumping the gun—not that they shouldn't be faster, but they have a limited staff still working from home and it takes them a while to get through all the email that comes in. You can try invoking @Erik here and see if he can elevate it. I believe from others' experience that you will get the refund.
  11. No problems here, but I also didn't use the Test 12 Boot image as it didn't seem like anything was being changed there. I just flashed the Test 12 ROM and Gapps and the Magisk.
  12. Having a backup phone is always a good idea. Get a basic, inexpensive Android phone that can get you through and then become a backup. I spent 7 months on a Moto G6 I picked up for $99 when my Nexus 6p died while waiting for my Pro 1. Just a thought...
  13. Yes, several of us have. The question is for how long. For a number of us, it doesn't last. But if you are on their network with a phone that has VoLTE provisioned already, you already have the mule, so you might as well try and just see how it goes. T-Mobile can be the backup plan.
  14. The relevant threads @EskeRahn is referring to are these: As @Craig said, the upshot is that AT&T and T-Mobile are pretty easy if they have good coverage where you are. Verizon id very tricky-- involves having to have a mule phone (a phone that Verizon has approved for VoLTE) and then transferring the SIM. Often works very smoothly at first if you follow the instructions in the Verizon thread, but hads broken down for several, usually affecting being able to send SMS. You cannot use CDMA with Verizon (which is why you need a SIM that has been enabled with VoLTE). I
  15. And I went 3 months with no problems. 😉 Good luck. Really, I'm hoping it's all fine for you.
  16. Key commands are listed on the overview tab on the website.
  17. I've basically solved the Landscape versus Portrait problems with Nova-- I am these days using my Pro1 about 95% in Landscape. I pull it from my pocket and just pop it open, whatever I want to do. Nice grip, don't have to worry about curved edges and, at this point, with much practice, easy to do. So I design my Home screen landscape and don't much care what happens in portrait. I was using Launchtime, which had all apps sorted into category tabs, but it ended up having a few quirks I didn't like. But I loved the scheme-- essentially it was Palm Launcher from Palm OS days. So I designe
  18. Moot point, I think. 😉 I agree with @Slion that things are difficult right now. And yes, if you need a phone, you may want to get one to use for now (when my Nexus 6p died, I spent 6 months on a cheap Moto G6).
  19. Welcome, dumarcm. You won't really get much in the way of answers here because we don't know-- which is both good news and bad news. All we can do is make guesses without much data. On the one hand, they got one good sized shipment out prior to the Chinese New Year and were ready to roll when everyone came back-- except that's when the virus closed down China. But we know they can do it. We just received an update HERE that they now finally have 100% of staff in factory and probably most of the parts (moving pieces around in China is still a bit slow but improving). If they now get
  20. These things are always dependent on where you are. I went through the SMS failure twice with Verizon. Worked great when it worked and I might have gotten it working again, but AT&T is so good where I am and most places I go, I lost my motivation for fiddling with Verizon. I do very much hope you do somehow not have any problems with Verizon in the future.
  21. Whereas. I love that feature. It's how I get my em-dash 😉 Also, it doesn't fire accidentally on me.
  22. Seems strange to evaluate it by app. I know the chart is just what you want the keyboard to do and not an overall comparison of keyboards, but folks my want to know that I tested sticky shift with two word processors, a text editor, and an email program. AOSP stick shift works in everything I tried. I don't have Gmail on my phone as I never use Gmail to do Gmail, but it seems clear to me that sticky shift works with the AOSP keyboard. Why there is an exception for Gmail someone else will have to figure out. 😉
  23. On Lineage, I get sticky shift with the AOSP keyboard. Since I actually don't care about any of the other red Ns for the AOSP keyboard, it is my choice. The my main knock with Swift Key aside from the red Ns is that it really sucks at swyping for those few times I use an onscreen keyboard, which is becoming less and less. It's just so easy to flip out the hardware keyboard. Gboard is far and away the best at swyping with almost supernatural accuracy, but AOSP is good enough and gives me the symbol menu.
