  1. There was a significant shipment in Nov/Dec 2019-- that's when I received mine (shipped in Nov, turned back by US Customs, reshipped from Hong Kong and received about Dec 10th). There were quite a few people who received devices then, as I recall, though I have no documentation and am too lazy to pore over the threads. 😉
  2. Sideloaded (as I always do) the 07 SEP update. Went very smoothly. Don't think there is anything new except the 05 SEP security patch from Google. However, no hiccups.
  3. No. You could have a second line, but I assume that requires a separate number. Also, do you have your Verizon sim working in your Pro 1? If so, lucky you and it may break. I had it working for three months, but it finally wouldn't let me do SMS and I got an AT&T Pay as you go SIM. You might take a look at this thread:
  4. Pay-as-you-go, which I have always done (never had a contract) in the US is now a reasonable option finally well supported by even the big telecoms. The downside of the wide support for it is that it is harder to find plans that allow you anymore to just pay money and take as long as you want for what you paid for. Most require a monthly reup, although you can let the account go dormant and revive it when you need it-- you will just lose any rollover the account might have. Investigate the smaller companies (called MNVOs)m such as Ting and many others, as they will offer the best prices. H
  5. By the way, I believe the relevant date for warranty is when it was shipped, not when it was ordered.
  6. You can download a flashable Magisk from here: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/ You flash it as in step 3 of @tdm's list above. Then you just download the Magisk Manager as I recall. Been a while since I used this as I switched to addonsu, but I'll probably have to go back to Magisk I think with LOS 17.
  7. Yes, thanks. That is what I do exactly. 🙂 (I do the same procedure with my Samsung TAB S with Lineage.)
  8. Ditto here. I only sideload and I always reflash MindTheGapps even though it is said you don't need too (also reflash addonsu). I've never noticed any lost settings... then again, I don't use many Gapps (Maps and Contacts are about it).

    Setup without Google

Wait! What? I'm supposed to drive more carefully if I'm an old fart... 😏
  10. I've never ever had to format an SD card (Windows, Android/Lineage. Linux), even when passing the card between platforms. This includes the Pro1. I just insert the card and away I go. I'm not a technical person, but have just assumed they come ready for FAT32, but I don't really know. This is just my experience.

F(x) Tec advertises alternate OSes as a feature of buying the Pro 1, as well as promoting them on their twitter feed, so you can be sure it doesn't void warranty. They also provide the means to restore stock (it restores an older version, but then you take the updates): I've done the restore to stock a couple of times, so I know it works although I am now on Lineage.

    Spare Parts

Nothing yet about spare parts from F(x) Tec. My guess is they can't get into the spare parts biz until they catch up on orders and have stock on hand. You can certainly try asking them, because anyone here is just guessing. Nice that you escaped your potential disaster with minimum consequences. 🙂
  13. Exactly this just happened to me. I'm so grateful a search for "battery drain" pulled up this post. I'm not very technical and probably would hav never discovered Android Auto was the culprit. But I was losing 10% an hour or greater and my phone was heating up. I was frankly getting ready to do a factory reset because I couldn't stop it and couldn't figure it out. But the search turned up this post and I tried it. Uninstalled Android Auto and the drain stopped. Reinstalled, and all was still good. When I reinstalled, I also discovered Google Maps was crashing, so reinstalled that, but
  14. For future reference, a reboot to recovery is on the advanced menu in the Lineage Recovery itself. Glad it all worked out. 🙂
  15. Yes, you are right, it is quite normal. I was just trying to alert agent008 in case this was his first sideload and he thought another problem had popped up. 🙂
  16. Ummmm, what exactly is not quick about a pulldown quick tile? Probably faster than launching an app. (I am operating from DW saying it is there on Stock, I'm not on stock myself to test). It should be simply lower the shade and tap.
  17. Reboot to recovery is mandatory after sideloding LOS because that will switch you to the correct slot.
  18. Note that, on my computer, after issuing the adb sideload command to flash LOS, the % tally stops at 47%. It just sits there like that for a long while with occasional text popping up on the phone. You have to be patient, it will complete. Make sure you reboot to recovery after you have flasjed LOS. Also, when you try to sideload Gapps, recovery will complain and ask if it is safe (it's some signature problem I think). Just say yes.
  19. I will just say that manual sideloading of the 20200824 update went smoothly. I always sideload, have never trusted OTAs (not because I have ever tried them, so I don't actually have a good basis for not trusting them). So, AFAICT, there is nothing wrong with the nightly zip. (I also always resideload addonsu and Gapps-- I don't trust the "Preserving Gapps" stuff. 😉
  20. I've never used Busybox, and I don't actually play around with the root folders (which is why I never noticed), but Root Explorer, despite having root, will not remount /root as r/w. As you say, most other app level root functions work fine (SU in terminal, TB backups, etc).
  21. You *always* need to reboot to recovery after sideloading LOS so that recovery can switch the slots.
  22. Two things to try. Press the top and bottom of the screen and see if something snaps into place. Then check behind the screen (with the keyboard out). Are any of the screws not tight? They are under black stickers, but if they aren't tight they are probably pressing up on the sticker.
  23. It may not be a solution you want to do, but as far as I can tell they don't happen on Lineage.
  24. Nope, no S/N number on the box. There is a serial number on the device, though it isn't the same as on the sticker. The sticker serial number is actually a number that identifies either what sequence the device is in manufacturing or in assignment to shipping. There is no consequence of not having it that I can tell and curiously, I have been told F(x) Tec has no means of retrieving that number. I asked. Which means they make no record of device numbers and who they are assigned to. I don't believe you need that number for any warranty issues. I don't have mine-- it wore off bef
