Well. Congratulations. It worked. When I pressed, there was a snap noise. Now call volume is working again. This forum and its members are brillant.4 points

Nope, no S/N number on the box. There is a serial number on the device, though it isn't the same as on the sticker. The sticker serial number is actually a number that identifies either what sequence the device is in manufacturing or in assignment to shipping. There is no consequence of not having it that I can tell and curiously, I have been told F(x) Tec has no means of retrieving that number. I asked. Which means they make no record of device numbers and who they are assigned to. I don't believe you need that number for any warranty issues. I don't have mine-- it wore off bef3 points

Okay, so it has been about a week with my Pro1. Software I decided to go with LineageOS, because it seems that it will be updated more frequently. LineageOS on the Pro1 works perfect, no unexpected shutdowns or crashes. Using keyboard shortcuts and arrow keys to scroll (especially with the modifier to scroll to top/bottom or ctrl-tab to switch tabs) in Chrome just feels so right. I am waiting for the Vimium Firefox extension to be compatible with Android to enjoy browsing with vim mapping. I use most applications in the Terminal (Termux), for example vim for coding or aerc to e2 points

Time to set up: Yes it takes a bit of time to set up total launcher, but there is a back up function, so you build it only once (hopefully, I have not tested it yet!). On any new phone, the set up of the home screens is what take most time, and I never found good solutions to back it up (e.g. for saving some time after factory reset, or even when changing phone). Setting up landscape - portrait I contacted the developer of total launcher. It is possible to copy and paste grids (incl apps) from portrait mode into landscape mode. 1. select the objects. 2. press the copy2 points

@tdm, can you please add that after installing the winusb via zadiag, the device should be rebooted into EDL otherwise it will result in an "Unknown Error" Another note, if anyone gets "Cannot open device", it means you haven't "Resintalled" the driver via zadiag. otherwise, it worked!!!2 points

Have you tried applying some pressure to the earpiece? It's basically a small speaker that sits in the frame. If I recall correctly they work on pressure contact. It could be possible the pins do not bend as well as they should (like a spring action). Applying some pressure could restore the contacts briefly. Then it would be a relatively easy fix. Either contact support and wait for a new screen, or open it up and re-shape those pins. Worth a try I would think.2 points

I've had to enter some APN settings manually to get mobile data on my carrier to begin with. Saved fine on stock, so I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. Perhaps some cache issue?1 point

I had a hardware trouble with that. Did you try a phone call using hands-free Speaker ? This could be a microphone issue. You can install Phone Doctor, and test your hardware. This was my issue (no more microphone), and I just take off 5 screws, remove the screen and clean the small connector from the microphone. Since it works without issue.1 point

The clack is a thing yes. But with a bit care, it's doable to do it as soft as possible. SO hates me for it though hahahaha1 point

That is interesting. I use password or fingerprints for unlock, and does not see it on unlock. I wonder if it is a general issue when used 'unprotected' or it's some software you have installed that triggers the issue? We have had people reporting random boots most likely related to when a WiFi signal is seen as very weak. I wonder if what you see could be a milder version of that? Could you try to temporarily stop WiFi, and see if this has any effect on the bug.1 point

Just a quick tip for anyone in future. If you go to Settings -> About Phone and tap "Device Name" it allows you to edit that text so you could tag the serial No. onto the end of the device name.1 point

I have also this with fingerprint, feels like its random. Any solutions? Have my Proยน as daily driver for couple of days now, coming from Symbian, Maemo, Meego, Sailfish. So lot to learn with this Android/Lineage. Gonna donate to @tdm for his awesome work1 point

If it's not outlined, its the same procedure as installing gapps. Reboot to recovery (I do so from restart menu, theres a setting to enable the advanced restart menu), select apply update, and adb sideload either lineagesu or magisk. If you're starting with installing lineage, after sideloading lineage in recovery, you select advanced reboot to recovery, then sideload su and/or gapps.1 point

Well, I would also prefer a portrait keyboard, maybe rather non-slider at the cost of having a smaller screen. But even a Priv-like slider could be better. Nokia 9110 was an interesting concept, essentially trying to offer the best for both portrait and landscape. It would be cool to have both portrait and landscape QWERTY and to choose the best one for the current situation, but this would take some space and it might have been some even more niche product than the Pro1... But I don't expect any new model anytime soon. You can see many people waiting for production of the curren1 point

This tool saved me. Thanks! I had to try different OS's and machines before i finally got everything to work, probably due to my own incompetence though. *Please note that EDL-mode needs to be restarted on the phone for each try. *also, try a USB2 port since USB 3 may have issues. (A usb2 hub can do the trick) This should be more advertised (is it "stickied"?), it's an essential tool. (Unless you are a hardware developer, and have the tools to unbrick it)1 point

Hey guys, I'm on vacation in Greece and noticed that I can't use roaming data. I googled a solution: manually enter the APN settings. Unfortunately, when done and hitting "save", it's not saving. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I kind of want to be able to use my 4G while on the road...0 points

Hi I have two keyboard issues with my Pro 1 (original Android 9, not LineageOS): There is no keyboard backlight. I read that many users complain about low-intensity light, but there is absolutely none in my case. The only key with (the low-intensity) backlight is CapsLock (when turned on). Open keyboard is not detected. When writing on the hardware keyboard, a software one keeps showing despite the fact I have "Show virtual keyboard (keep it on screen while physical keyboard is active)" turned off. Applications such as "Null keyboard" are workarounds, but it is very annoying.0 points

Hey folks, I finally got mine about a week ago (after 11 months). Great phone, just not what I need, and am going back to my galaxy S8. Ebay link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/F-x-tec-Pro-1-128GB-Unlocked-Dual-SIM-Physical-Keyboard-phone-slider-Qwerty/283978267834 I thought I'd post it in here, in case anyone wanted one sooner, etc. It's been opened and turned on by me, but factory reset after I spent about an hour checking it out. All accessories still in box, and looks like new.0 points

I did run a test with the app TestM Hardware. The earpiece did not work. Not sure whether it confirms this is a hardware problem.0 points
