  1. Turns out I just underestimated ConnectBot! It can indeed open multiple sessions at once, and even makes switching between them really simple: one just needs to swipe the screen to left or right to jump between open terminal windows. Awsome but (seemingly) undocumented feature. I now made three shortcuts to my server, so I can comfortably open up to three different terminal sessions to it. JuiceSSH seems nice, but unfortunately it is not FOSS, so I do not want to use it. I am a little picky about that. Thanks anyway!

  2. I read Fxtec was accepting suggestions for new keyboard layouts. Has anyone suggested a blank keyboard layout? That way you can remap keys however you want without having to worry about letters matching up And you don't have to worry about letters fading over time

  3. From indiegogo.com: "By contributing to a Campaign, Contributors are supporting an idea, project, or cause they care about and want to help make happen. Like anyone getting in on an early-stage project, Contributors accept the risk that the Campaign may experience changes, delays, and unforeseen challenges, or that a Campaign, and its Perks, might not come to fruition." That seems pretty clear and honest to me. What are you complaining about?

  4. As you read from others, you will not get any official reponse on this forum. IGG rules (as far as I understand them) allow Fxtec to either choose to refund backers or keep the money nontheless in the case their project (the Pro1-X) fails. Now, they seem pretty serious about not letting the project fail, but modifiy the Pro1-X such that it can still be delivered. So (again, as far as I understand those things) the "project" (the Pro1-X) is still alive and well, and refunding (all) backers is not even in question. As I have previously stated, I believe the Pro1-X will be the best

  5. Solved it. It was the car stereo, not the phone. I went through the menus and found a "clear bluetooth settings" option. I did that โ€“ and the Pro1 connected without problems afterwards... ๐Ÿ™‚ (The pic to prove it is here!)

  6. Now that I finally got a phone, I can confirm that the Brodit 711042 doesn't quite accommodate the thickness of the device (and just holding the keyboard part with it doesn't really work, either), so I got a 511307 and it's good indeed!

  7. You could use termux, which allows to spawn several sessions, and open an ssh connection in each?

  8. Reboot worked. I though that I did that, but I guess not. Sometimes I sit and think, but mostly I just sit. Sorry to bother you guys. BTW: I only had my phone for a couple of weeks, but I love it.

  9. Ah that sound the problem several have encountered with the earpiece. It seems to be a mechanical issue, try to check if the display part is tight together at the earpiece end. Some have reported that they pressing it can hear it 'snaps' back in place and the works. Could that be what you experiences? If it fixes it, perhaps check that the screws behind the stickers are not loose.

  10. This prototype keyboard (from the video in the manufacturer's February Update), which, rather than a slider, is a separate clamshell design the phone itself somehow has to be attached to, is still missing the kneecaps keycaps. As far as I can see, this is an affordable lower-end phone that exclusively runs Linux. After different experimental versions it will now ship with Plasma Mobile on Manjaro.

  11. For the IndieGogo Pro1 X, I don't think there is. I seem to remember there was a precedent already that was answered with no, this is IndieGogo and we don't refund, you can sell the device after you get it. Which is the way IndieGogo campaigns usually go (after a short period of refunds being available through IndieGogo itself, if I understood that correctly). I would advise people who try to argue that companies financing new products through IndieGogo would need to offer refunds according to European law if they ship to Europe to talk to someone who is well versed in European law,

  12. I agree. But the Pro1-X backers *chose* to invest in a crowdfunding campaign instead of ordering a phone through the normal Fxtec web shop. Doing so they -- according to IGG rules -- provided money to Fxtec and, to a certain degree at least, freed them from the obligation to finally deliver the product. That is investing in a "common goal". That also direct FxTec orders are cancelled and transferred to Pro1-X's now is a different story. However IGG investors knew (or should have known) they took additional risks from the start.

  13. I really believe that this kind of discussion is fruitless. If we agree on the common goal of keeping keyboard phones alive, there is no choice but to back the (few) companies like Fxtec. However, there being no choice sadly does not mean there is a guarantee of success: not every transfer of money is a purchase whose object can be claimed. Think of it like this: If I donate money to WWF to help them save the Amur leopard, and then the cat goes extinct nonetheless, would I get refunded? No, of course, I wouldn't. And I still donate every year.

  14. Again, being no lawyer, I doubt this. Backers have a well-defined contract with IGG, see here. IGG is a US company, so its contracts with customers are bound to US law only. IGG may choose to cooperate with international partners on a project, including partners from the EU or Britain (Fxtec). However that does not mean that backers have any direct contract with that partner. I think the picture that Fxtec is "selling" the Pro1-X through IGG is wrong. They gather money though IGG in the hope that it will be sufficient to actually build the phone and then (and only then) deliver

  17. Sounds good! Suppose I'll be switching to ConnectBot for my SSH tasks now, too.

  18. This is possible even without a blank layout. ๐Ÿ™‚ I chose German as initial layout because it was the closest layout to original QWERTY one, but with US layout as main one and I have some keys remapped to accommodate my national layout as second (Alt-Gr) function. That is perfect for me, a blank keyboard would be much worse and also I have backlight which is a good feature.

  19. I like the originality! However, I myself haven't been able to do proper touch typing on the QWERTY variant, with the keys being so small, meaning that every so often, I look back at the keyboard to check whether I'm about to press the right key. That's going to be extremely difficult if you can't check to see which key is which. Furthermore, getting the feel for a new keyboard layout always starts out slowly, so I wonder if you could even learn the positions of the keys you decide to map manually at all, with such a tough start. Also, you'd lose the backlight.

  21. JuiceSSH allows you to do this if you goto exit the terminal is asks if you want to run in background say yes then you can spawn another session to another server or the same one. It then lists them in the notifications pane and you can switch between them.

  22. My suggestion is if Fx Tec could consider imate Jasjar design. Not only makes it versatile design and you can use it as tablet, phone, lapotop mode and closed for screen protection. but also more easy to replace screen and battery. But having said that all, i still love Pro1 design

  23. Hello. Is there any chance to get a refund? I've contacted the Fxtec team via IGG on February 11 but still got no response. As I said in that message, I'm using a BB Priv and its storage pisses me off more and more when it comes to modernโ„ข apps that intensively use the storage, the phone just overheats and throttles. Pro1 (X) was my hope and I've backed it but then they suddenly say "oh no we're out of CPUs so suffer with your current phone a bit more". I'm aware that Fxtec could be in a trouble but I still want the money back to buy something else as a replacement for my curr

  24. Isn't that... what they did? :))) My Pro1 feels like a N950 only way better and, personally, I think black is the only way to go for electrical devices. ๐Ÿ˜„ I don't want my phone to catch everyone's eye... that's how s**t gets stolen. :))) (joking) I get what you're saying, but besides component availability, as stated above, there would also be patents and legal issues in the mix.

  25. Basically I think the display of N950 is unavailable. (I am also have a bad feeling of the long-term availability of Pro1 screen anyway, however, I don't know what the manufacturer tells about it). Basically the industry is moving forward and unless you are a big manufacturer, it may not worth to request a custom-made display, so that means you will depend on the manufacturer of the display or a display what another phone manufacturer uses elsewhere... similarly as the SoC. So you have to cook from what is available and there are no wide possibilities.

  26. YES! It snapped! And now there's normal call audio... Best thing is, it isn't even as loud as I feared. Sounds as if it was low enough even for the workplace, whenever I'll return there. All good! (Why can't I give you a 'thanks' and a 'like'? ๐Ÿ˜‰) __________ While I was following this forum, I thought when I would have read about all the issues and hints and tricks and solutions and workarounds, I would immediately know what to do when something would occur with my phone-to-be. Far from it! I've already forgotten even what was discussed quite recently...

  27. On my phone (LineageOS 17.1, 15 February 2021 update), in-call volume is zero, and that doesn't change with with moving any volume sliders. The phone rings, I accept the call, and I don't hear anything. To hear the incoming audio I need to explicitly switch on the speaker โ€“ which then is too loud, and cannot be changed with any volume slider, either. Is this what you're experiencing, or is this different?

  29. Yup the Camera connector had come off, I had dropped the phone, it must have landed just right. its the one indicated with the arrow, there is another connector just below and to the right in the photo, once I disconnected that, the Camera connector popped up from the board. But it looks a bit askew in the close up photos.

  30. Just got my Pro1 bacjk from repair. Superb. Not a ghost touch anywhere. Immediately installed the update of AICP and aside from a rookie mistake and a hiccup in the connection to my computer for a moment, everything went smoothly. I love this ROM!!! @tdmThank you! Thank you also FxTec for the great repair.

  31. The line is when they take the money to Las Vegas and blow it on hookers and cocaine. And then they realize they need more money, so they delay shipping in order to solicit more funds, so they can provide refunds to people who threaten to sue. Thus, the organization becomes a ponzi scheme where new investor money is used to pay off old investors. But I don't think that's the case here, hopefully... >.<

  32. I Signed up in the last 14 days. And i dont really blame Fx tech for this bad stuff happens. But I dont think this was communicated in the right way. As soon as they knew there was a problem i think this should have been communicated and they are looking for other options, at least i would have waited then! So did request a refund mostly for circumstances. But i dont see them as dishonest. I wrote it on the IGG as well, that i will likely still get the phone, just think i rather get it off Fx when its ready!

  33. Hoping to revive this thread, quite some time has passed and there's been some progress in Google Camera (GCam) apps. I recently got this phone and I've been trying many GCam versions, only to notice the majority of versions all have an upside down viewfinder. If it weren't for this, these versions would make the camera function exceptionally well on the F(x)tec Pro1. The most promising version seems to be MGC_8.1.101, given that it is the latest version of the Google Camera combined with the fact that it has a wide range of (developer) settings inside. However, I have not been able to find an

  34. I think getting a refund before they file for bankruptcy is key now. The love for the keyboard is zo big, everyone is making excuses in the name of fxtec. I cant see any valid excuse. As a company owner you have to get your shit together. if oneplus' first phone was a shit show like this, they would never have survived. I know they won't respond for the refund for at least a month so... can someone link me to someone that can push it through?
