  1. Haha, no, I hadn't 😄 Ok, for me, on LineageOS 17.1 the camera button works for both starting the camera and for shooting, including AF on half-press!

  2. Slow change does not seem to be a problem (it should be usually static) and it is specific to E-ink panels generally. However, it would have the advantage of having practically any kind (also custom) prints for every users. I hope this solution is not patented anyway...

  3. Surprisingly, this worked. Thank you! I first flashed the original image as described here -> And then I installed uboot-installer 0.54-beta by cloning the repository and checking out this branch here and then running npm install npm start The first attempt failed as the Pro1 wouldn't boot into recovery mode, but after restarting the phone, exiting the installer, going back to the boot menu and restarting the installer it worked. It just took a long time before I got into the start menu. @Raksura pinging you here as you had a detailed list of what worked and what d

  4. I must say that I really do not understand your question. The whole point of a laptop is that it does not rely on an external display, mouse and keyboard. I believe the whole convergence thing in phones is much overrated. In my world, whenever I am close to a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, a PC is most likely attached to those anyway. There is simply no need to bring my own (less powerful) computer to them to be productive. IMHO, a portable computing device makes sense only if it is self-sufficient: It's task is to allow you to be productive precisely in the case you are far from

  5. I's an X250. It has traditional USB-3.0 ports, not USB-C, both on the laptop as well as on the dock. That's probably why it (luckily 🙂) does not fast charge.

  6. Sorry I mean 16.0 (too used to seeing 17.1) not sure I would recommend now as 17.1 is available. But here is the link

  7. I doubt. Plastic would soften long before solder itself. It should have a melting point much above 100 degree Celsius. (It is around 183 degree Celsius for lead-based soldering which is prohibited to use for mass-production of consumer electronics and above 200 degree Celsius for lead-free solders...) Right, USB connector may be replaced with another one, but it has a lot of connections. Also, if the connector breaks ("comes off"), then PCB traces are potentially insured so replacing the connector is not easy...

  8. The only thing I'll add to the discussion of the USB port is that it is possible that heat from high speed charging could cause a problem with how the usb port makes connections to the separate PCB it is on. It could cause enough heat to soften the solder. The port sits on top of 24 *tiny* connections. They aren't the type that connect out the back of the port. I'm not saying this is definitely true, but just a possibility. It does get very hot when charging at full speed. Oh, and if the usb port does break, and you can't get one from fxtec, in theory, a new port can be soldered onto

  9. It exists. A rather old Samsung thing ("SCH-U0750" also labeled " Alias ™ ² "). I found one on ebay for a modest price (if I remember right the shipping was half the total) It works fine, and the idea could be adopted to say a Pro2 or 3... Sure the change of layout is a little slow, but acceptable, even for showing symbol-layouts.

  10. I have also ran into a similar issue. One of the microcontrollers I use was unavailable in the factory (at PCB assembling company) and it was also unavailable at Farnell but I could order it from Mouser ...so I had to solder it by hand (TQFP-144 package). Currently, it is available also at Farnell and Mouser, but another microcontroller is still unavailable till April or May (pending order). Also there is a power-related IC I could only backorder (it was unavailable at PCBA company and at suppliers above), then it became unavailable again and currently there is a pending order whic

  11. On my phone with LineageOS 17.1, the camera button doesn't open any camera app, but does work for shooting (including autofocus on half-press). [Edit: see here!] That said, I can open the camera app (my preferred one) by double-tapping the on/off button, so I'm not missing much there.

  12. The USB port is on a separate tiny pcb, (attached to the main board via a cable) ....And if they had added them to the spare parts sold through IGG, I too would have bought a bunch, as this on all phones is a weak point with much wear and tear. May I suggest what I have done> Use an magnetic plug. Sticks out a few mm, but spares the port a LOT of stress. (can be bought for trifles, you should decide if you want charge only, or data also - charge only are the cheapest and there are more offers) https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2368-magnetic-cables

  13. We send the screen part, not "just the screen" - that cannot be removed without a heatgun, potential damage and it's not something we provide. The screen part that we ship includes the frame around it, so it's very easy to swap. The hinge mechanism is not included, as you don't need that to swap the display.

  14. You can aquire root rights through adb (DevOps - USB debugging - Rooted debugging) without rooting the phone. Run adb root from your computer and delete "/persist/data/fingerprint".

  15. That's a matter of definition. if the letters on the keys have to match what they type, that could be awhile, if ever. In the meantime, check out the fine work of @Anssi Hannula on FinQwerty. It makes almost anything possible. :)

  16. So looks like we will never see this fixed in stock since we are most certainly not getting Android 10 now that Pro1X switched to another SOC.
