So I ended up building my own phone. Backstory: A few of you know me for my hardware modding adventures. I've replaced the broken USB port with a new port. I've then removed the fingerprint sensor to replace it with a secondary USB port for a more comfortable landscape mode. So, it appears that I was able to repair my Pro1-X's radios. Previously, telephony and mobile data wouldn't work for me, as documented earlier in this thread. WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS had always worked perfectly. It turned out that my Pro1X was missing most of its "antenna" connector springs. My main antenna (aka. Make your displays last longer I've recently ordered a bunch of those 'b-ware' displays and out of seven, two were in good condition and one is usable (~20€ each). That's okayish since there are no good displays to order anymore. For anyone in Australia using 3G and worried about the impending shutdown of Telstra's 3G network, I finally figured out how to enable VoLTE. I am with Aldi Mobile (Telstra) and have been using the "GSM/WCDMA preferred" up until today (and have needed to use dodgy hacks as mentioned in this thread of enabled/disabling speaker phone when performing a call). My Primary use of a phone is SMS, and the secondary email, and the third web-browsing. All of which benefits from a keyboard in the right direction. But I certainly agree that many many app-developers are too sloppy (or too incompetent?) to bother about landscape. That is a very mild wording. They got swindled. They paid and the company neither delivered the chips nor their money back. And as this was the company that had most of the blueprints of the Pro1, it meant that FxTec had to start over. They could have just folded after that, and said that our money was lost, but idealists as they are, they tried to recreate a new phone in the same form factor from the money left. Overall I think this is a quite good analysis. That they managed to grow the (SD835) Pro1 from the ash of the Livermorium project almost seems like a miracle from today's perspective. The original Pro1 was indeed far from perfect. It had its QA issues, and also some design flaws. It's hard to say whether these antenna connectors were broken when shipped, or due to disassembly on your part. Have you've heard the antenna rattle inside the phone when you first received it? Would that be the reason why you took apart your device to check? The antenna springs are indeed fragile. Not like other devices we see in the market, they normally have antenna pins pointing upwards, not sideways that contacts the frame. This can be especially seen in devices that have metal enclosures. The antenna springs on the Pro1-X are surface mounted via SMT, and the glue is to fix it in

I went to Hong Kong for that specific reason, is to coordinate with the warehouse and shipping partner and make sure our stock arrived safely. I understand your concerns about us being silent for the past months, there just wasn't much to tell everyone. Though, now I'm pretty confident we'll get devices shipped out asap. I send yesterday a request because my FXTEC 1 plus was not starting (empty battery). I received the cellphone one week ago. Today i received an email with the hint to recharge the phone with a rubber band (it worked!), and my question for the spare screen and the spare battery i ordered was also answered: After all devices are shipped. Rii 518BT keyboard arrived to today. The quality is better than I expected. The keys do not wobble around but is quite loud when typing compared to Pro1. The feel is very "clicky". Also, the layout will take some time to get used to it. Especially the back key is on weird location. Android automatically manages Scandic layout quite well. Here is first mockup with iPhone 11 Pro case that I had in a drawer. It is too short but I am still waiting couple cases that I ordered earlier for this project. Thanks to everyone here in the forum and FxTec tech support I have finally a beautiful AND working Pro 1x back in my hands!! There was even a screen protector in the box for me to apply, like a mint on the pillow. Much appreciated! It was at first frustrating to not have a way to test the keyboard without downloading some app. i resisted the prying grip of Google playstore by loading Firefox so that I could ditch chrome. So I could get Gmail and Facebook without using the apps. The keyboard is elegantly designed and nicely backlit. Internet access is good. Having the tilt when the keyboard

You are right we should not jump to the conclusion but it certinly sounds like a reasonable explanation why it is working for some and not for others. And on this one I wonder what havoc that could make, depending on where it 'lands'?. It does not have to be a 0 to 3.8V short circuit to cause trouble, could be 'anywhere' exposed.

I wasn't able to 100% confirm that all units shipped out from the previous warehouse were working. Given the timeframe I had, it was quite impossible to check them one by one... Though, I understand your concerns and will reach out to those who did unfortunately receive a depleted Pro1-X and to offer support whenever we can.

I've moved to a new address between the last update and now. When I saw the most recent update, I sent a e-mail to F(x)tec asking if I could have my shipping address changed. Interestingly, they responded and changed the address very quickly, and I even got a message from Indiegogo that the shipping address on my order was updated. I mention this because I've heard people on IGG claim that they couldn't change their shipping addresses with F(x)tec. The fact that I could do it quickly feels like an indication--albeit a small one--that they genuinely are hopeful things will work out this time.

Hi all, I am late to the party. I didn’t expect to receive this device and it showed up at my door late last week. I am really struggling to install Sailfish on the qx1050. I followed the instructions in the first post of this thread and I can’t get past the “Powered by Android” boot screen. I tried both the March 2023 (Sailfish 4.5) and October 2022 (Sailfish 4.4) releases. I booted to the bootloader, ran the flash.sh script. I have no clue where the original thread ended up. I posted a couple of cases I got a while back that are perfect, but y'all didn't want the funky designs and colors. I finally found a black one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085B37D84 All you have to do is GENTLY remove the rubber phone holder, use a few pieces of double sided carpet tape (lemme know if you want a link) and mount the phone. Camera hole is perfect, no button interference, and great protection.

Hi @Laska, The keyboard driver for the Pro1 has been completely rewritten by @tdm when he did the original port of LineageOS. The keymap file in LOS 16 is located in /sys/bus/i2c/drivers/aw9523b/6-0058/keymap. However, any changes to that file are not persistent across reboots. If you have root, the easiest way to make changes persistent is the following: Install the app Run Userinit from F-Droid. Execute Run-Userinit once and grant it root privilege. Next, place your modified keymap e.g. in /data/system/keyboard/keymap (you may have to create the "keyboard" folder

Still loving my Pro1. Haven't even had to put in the new battery yet. I use my phone a lot. Like surfing and videos. I turn data off when not in use, keep wifi on at home because wifi calling. I put it in Airplane mode when I am sleeping (because sleep).

I've been using the Unihertz Titan Pocket since last Thursday, and I do believe I'm sold. The 3.1" screen takes getting used to, but Unihertz has thrown in a bunch of customizations, from display resizing to key remapping.
