    Avatars?

The link "Edit Profile" on mine is pointing to, looks like this (almost) https://www.fxtec.com/user/?profiletab=main&um_action=edit If I execute that link I get the edit. Could one of you with the issue, please try? ADD: This reduced version seem to also work (for me) https://www.fxtec.com/user/?um_action=edit
  2. It depends a bit on what you mean by "google apps", as all the Android system apps in principle are Google apps. But I assume you mean stuff like their maps, mails, drive, photos, youtube, chrome and many others, and YES you can disable these (even without the need to use ADB from a PC - that is a big axe for non rooted devices) And remember that if not enough, they also promised that it is rootable, so that allows you to do practically anything. :) PS Also remember that due to a really odd Android thing, you have to explicitly stop a running app you have disabled, otherwise it will c
  3. There has been a discussion on the size much earlier in the thread, so moved your comment here. I too hope for a Pro2 of lesser size. If the Pro1 gets a big (excuse the pun) success, we will have a higher chance of later variants also. I'm quite sure they thought long on what size that would would suit the most users, and that is where they have chosen to start.
  4. Just tried to pair the Pro1 with an old Iphone BT keyboard I dug up, and look and behold it worked!! (Not that it makes much sense though) So why it did NOT work with the Android phones I tried earlier I do not know.... ADD The same old thing also worked on my Samsung S8- , so all points to the problems I have seen no longer exists??
  5. One very very crucial detail is missing in this spec-compare: The keyboard.... And not just a fixed keyboard but a sliding landscape one!!! One thing is the price of the keyboard and the development of it alone, like say a BB Key½, but we should also remember that logically 'splitting' a standard phone in halves, keeping it well balanced is not an easy thing! This is not just a keyboard 'drawer' tugged underneath a phone, it is more like a screen and some other components cut out of the unit and moved to the second half. And this has to be done with a strategically placed cable that is placed
  6. I can see it was resent. :) BUT If you still do not get it, you might want to check if you are using an email provider that has a filter where it can get caught, before your local email program ever have a chance of seeing it as real/spam. My email-provider uses a system called "SpamTitan", and ocasionally I experience that the filter have been overzealous and caught real emails in it's quarantine.
  7. Agree. Just like the BB Priv that was also 'overpriced for the rest of the specs', I still bought it. The Moto Z series similarly, if you just look at specs, severely overpriced. But had the Keyboard Mod been realised I planned to buy a Z-series device for it, despite the overprice. (And yes, that way around, a device for the keyboard, not a keyboard for the device!) (And before the Priv, I bought some different Keyboards for Iphones, and then an Iphone for them - but HATED Ios)
  8. First of it is 650 and not 700, but that is almost splitting sticks. But seen from my perspective this IS a niche product, and will never be a 'mass product' selling millions (I would love to be proven wrong though...) In my view it simply is a limited segment that type that much that they can see the benefits of a real keyboard over the software substitutes. AND even if they do see it, there is a trade of in size and weight that have to be considered. So for those that type sms, email, browses etc with a mean of say 100-200 strokes a day, and use their device primarily for calling and e

  10. The problem with sarcasm in a forum like this is that it is often taken for face value. Humour is very much cultural dependent.
  11. If I do not recall incorrectly, they already stated that. How the exact procedure will be I do not know.
  12. A nice idea in principle, but perhaps something like this would be better for a home environment: https://www.irdroid.com/irdroid-v2/ The dongle looks quite large, and the risk of breaking the usb-port sounds like a high risk for the functionality..
  13. Interesting that you got an Iphone keyboard to work with android, that failed on my attempts. The type of keyboard you used looks like similar to the ones I played with, so maybe Samsung had some smart trick to work with Iphone keyboards? I do not quite recall what phones I attempted to connect to. It was my own SonyEricsson (Neo) Pro, but also some of my friends devices at the time.
  14. I think that part is pushing it a bit. For those writing in languages with A-Z only, and that do not use numbers much, (or always look at the print of the keys anyway), the shifted layout might be beneficial. with a better balance in the strech from right and left. I'm not in that target group either though... So despite never writing in German (I hardly speak it), I will most likely go for the German unshifted QWERTZ layout, as I can easily ignore that the Y-key got a Z printed and vice versa. And similar for the national letter keys, that are different in Danish So if not enough sup
  15. I experimented a bit, and as I tried it I could get the keyboards available for Android to work quite well on Ios devices, but not the other way round! They REGISTER fine by bluetooth, but keystrokes are ignored. I have tried at least five different models. You can see a little blah blah on those I wrote here a couple of years ago.
  16. Thanks for the nice post edlinfan. And nice tinkering. I tinkered something for Iphone 6- my self that worked well, had it not been for the horrors of Ios, I might still have been using it.... I can confirm that the pro1 indeed offers an option to have it in landscape while open :) And Alt-Tab and Alt-Sh+Tab is supported too (The last triple-combo hard to do hand-held though) I see no reasons why Home/End could not be assigned to a combo. Could be the yellow-arrow plus some arrow key. Frankly I never even tried the pane functionality, imho even these huge 6" screens are too small
  17. Might work, my point was that the edge needed to get a grip, could be in the way for the sliding when opening, and it almost certainly would limit the options of opening to push-only, as it would by hard to get a grip on the top part for lifting of the back edge...
  18. Looks awesome indeed! But if it should hold on the slightly conic bottom 'half', it would need to grab over the top phased edge, and that could make it harder to open... See this profile image from the Android Authority Preview
  19. I guess the difference between $649 and your $700 could cover a more exclusive case. I hope there will be one available as an accessory.
  20. It has been said at several places that this does not have an IP-rating. I do not know any particulars on the warranty, but for those in the EU (assuming UK is still in in July), there are law bound warranty. But I hope someone from the company can tell you more.
  21. I'm quite confident that all these characters will be available software-wise, when Czech is selected - no matter the print on the keys. I have already started on a little pc tool for customization, though I still lack the info on what files are used and the format of those. But I hope for complete flexibility, and sharing of layouts, so even the smallest minority can fit them for their own preferences, using the print that is closest as a base. E.g. The German QWERTZ would be quite close to the Scandinavian, so even if Scandinavian print is not made.... I do not not know enough on andro
  22. Remember also that Scan can easily substitute Den, as the difference is just additional print that needs to be ignored on two keys for Danes. And as suggested earlier a large portion of those wanting US/UK are likely to have never even bothered with this thread, and thus did not vote.
  23. I have tried to Google for some brightness on the "Elephone U Pro" that uses the same display, but not found any numbers. But a subjective compare of the S8- and the (pre-production) Pro¹ (both cranked up to full brightness and no blue filter or the like), the Pro¹ is clearly brighter. ADD: Tried to put them at auto and shine a bright led torch at the sensors of both (placed head-to-head) and here my impression were that they were of about equal brightness. (The S8- is known to go for a higher brightness in auto, than if you just pull the bar to 100%, the Pro¹ does not do that. If you cr
